The hotel is located next to the University campus. It is around 15-20 mins away from the center of Reykjavik. We rented a car, so the free gravel parking lot next to the hotel was a big bonus. The room is quite small and not very decorated but clean and comfortable. We had access to the shared kitchen which was nice for storing our groceries in the fridge and making sandwiches for our hikes.

The room has 2 twin beds opposite of each other. There is enough space to put them together to create a "double bed", which would be a nicer option for couples. It would be nice to have some soap in the bathroom.

The rooms were clean, quiet, with very comfortable beds. Having our own private bathroom was important and it was equally clean. The common kitchen was a lifesaver given the exorbitant costs of dining out. We were able to buy a few groceries and cooked our own meals vs going out. The kitchen was massive in size that allowed more than one cook at a time and people shared the cleaning. It also encouraged meeting fellow travellers and gaining tips and tricks for being in Iceland. The location was excellent within walking distance to down town Reykjavik and had lots of free parking. A very comfortable stay and one I would go back to and recommend to other travellers.

There wasn’t anything to dislike since it was exactly what we expected and more. Perhaps a hairdryer in the bathroom would be the only thing.

I stayed here before and after my hike of the Laugavegur Trail. Only a short 15-minute walk on a paved walkway from the main bus station. Perfect for catching the bus to trail and the airport. Reception staff were available and helpful. They stored my luggage until check-in time. Clean basic room, comfortable bed. The shared kitchen made it easy to make coffee and have breakfast before heading out. I rented a locker on-site where I stored a bag while hiking the Laugavegur Trail. While cheaper options may be available at the car parks, I returned late and was glad I didn't have to walk further. The student bar was open late and offered cheaper options than dining out. I'm very glad I stayed here!

The room was spacious and clean, and everything needed for a comfortable stay like towels. There were also common kitchens that looked clean and you were able to make food. The room was very quiet and had nice blackout curtains. You are also able to leave your suitcases or bags to a locked storage room after checking out.

The rooms did not have wifi which is quite inconvenient. The shower didn't have any shampoo or shower gel but that is no real problem, but more of a good to know. Hostel is a bit of a longer walk to the center but a bus goes straight in front of the building. Some of the residents/guests were very loud in some areas even during the later hours.

The property was located close to both BSI bus station and to the city center/downtown area. The city is extremely walkable, although hilly, so we found this to be a perfect location to meet our needs. The staff was responsive and communicative and went out of their way to be helpful. For instance, my friend and I both forgot charger adapters and were able to borrow one from the front desk. The facilities are nicely appointed and clean. It was a great value as we were able to have a two bed room for the night with a private bathroom, compared to many of the pricier places to stay.

The Student Hostel was the perfect place to explore Reykjavik and visit the university. The room (we had the deluxe one) was small with two beds and a desk, but it was all we needed thanks to the large storage spaces. The room came with linen and towels. The location is perfect, everything can be reached by foot (University, City and the BSI Bus Terminal for trips). The rooms was quiet, the beds comfy and the bath was functional with a good shower. The staff was excellent and super helpful. We had several questions and all were answered perfectly. The common kitchen is a great place to store food and meet people. Value for money is excellent and I highly recommend it for a stay in Iceland.

We stayed for a week and I would have appreciated a cleaning at least once. The shower had some hairs from the previous people, but that was removed easily. Apart from that, room and bath were clean.

Convenient location and the laundry facilities were a lifesaver a week into our two week trip! It was clean and quiet and the kitchen was convenient for preparing food. It was nice to have a private bathroom as well for a good price. I would stay here again if I go back to Reykjavik!

Very well set up with great communal areas - excellent communal kitchen/lounge near our room, comfy beds & good en suite bathroom. A friendly & very helpful staff member helped us checkin after a flight arrival in the early hours & Google sent us to the back of the building! University cafe nearby is very good value for breakfast & lunch. Well located for walking to Reykjaviks sights & easy free parking near the hostel - recommended for independent travellers

The Hostel is very central, Reykjavik Center is very near by foot (not even 10 minutes), the hostel in itself is modern, nicely decorated, calm, had a fantastic kitchen and the staff was really nice! The beds were super comfortable, we love that there was a sink inside the room, making things as skincare or brushing the teeth more private and it’s nicely separated from the beds with furniture in the middle. 5 points for the window blackouts as well, since at this time of the year it’s important to have darkness in the room at night. Showers/WC were very nice and private. Lovely stay! 😊

the room was very hot and the one window we could open was very small. would have been helpful to have a fan.
