We really enjoyed our stay at Happy Planet. The room was clean, of good size and had a small and practical balcony. Buddha was very polite and cooked tasty meals for breakfast. Savita, the owner, was very helpful and resourceful, she gave us many suggestions where to go for sightseeing, shopping and dining and arranged transport when needed. The location is perfect, it is quiet and close to the centre (10 mins by rikshaw), all necessities are around - a hotel & cafe, juice and snack stall, ATM, pharmacy, small supermarket, fruit shop. I would definitely visit again.

There was nothing to dislike.

We stayed for over a week at Happy Planet and enjoyed all aspects of our stay. The owner communicated with us well ensuring a smooth check-in and stay. The onsite caretaker was professional, organized, and took care of us well. The breakfast was delicious and varied every morning; the location was perfect, next to great cafes and restaurants; and the room was spacious and clean with plenty of closet space for two. This place was a great value for all it had to offer and gave us peace of mind during our stay.

The lowest setting on the wall fan was still high for us and faced the bed so we often had to get up at night to turn it off when we got cold. There was also a lack of ventilation in the room which made it stuffy and the fan necessary.

We were completely satisfied during our stay. The location allows for easy access to major streets where one could hail a tuktuk (our preferred mode of travel in Indian cities) or take an evening stroll, yet it was very quiet. The room was large enough and had great storage so that we could easily unpack our suitcases for a 5 night stay. The bed was comfortable. Down a small flight of stairs was the dining room and lounge area to which we had access at any time. We could store items in the fridge there as well. Breakfast was simple and quite good, made fresh when you sat at the table. We met a number of travelers from outside India and had some delightful conversations. The staff is exceptional! Saavite, the owner, is extremely helpful. She was always available by phone and often in person. She offered excellent advice, arranged travel, and was helpful in every way. Buddha, the gentleman who was onsite daily and cooked breakfasts, was a delight and extremely helpful. We highly recommend this property as a home base from which to enjoy Chennai.

Everything was fine.

I was here during a storm, and the streets were flooded - so not a great time to do sightseeing, but i did work on my laptop - and my room was perfect for this. It's calm, huge with a lot of space and a small balcony. The bed is big and very comfortable. As well as the communal space. Buddha made a great tasty breakfast every morning and was nice to talkt to (so where the other guests). It is located a bit outside the city center and a short Tuktuk ride away from the main attractions of the city, but you will find everything you need, just around the corner. I was very happy with the accommodation!

Nothing, all was good (exept the weather...)

Had a lovely stay here for a month with my wife and parents. The place was clean, the breakfast was great and the neighbourhood was safe. The host Savita was very friendly and helpful. We had a few additional requests that she sorted out with no complaints. The caretaker Buddha was also so friendly and helpful. In the area there's a gym, grocery store and many food places - all within walking distance

clean, incredibly spacious, functional ac, quite and peaceful despite being right next to a busy street, access to refrigerator and kitchen. lots of storage space - ideal for long term stay

No POS for credit cards. Payment eithee through cash or upi only. Limited facilities. It would have been good to access yoga mats or some basic exercise equipment. Maybe some recreational stuff like board games. Lots of space & potential in the living room to liven it up a bit

Fine place to stay. Very helpful with transfer from the airport (INR 700 by prepaid taxi, ask driver to call the owner for directions) and get me going on my first day in Chennai. Highly appreciated. Room was spacious. Private bathroom next to the room. Simple but delicious homemade idli breakfast. Quiet neighbourhood, with a some places to eat just a couple of streets walking. Uber worked great in Chennai for both tuktuks and an 'intercity' taxi to Mahabalipuram. Thanks!!

With a fantastic location, this accommodation ticked all the boxes for a wonderful stay! Super large, comfortable bed, spacious room, clean bathroom, a cute little balcony, daily delicious breakfast and the ever helpful and smiling Buddha (the caretaker) made our trip very memorable!

Hard to think of any negatives. We truly enjoyed our stay.

The place has been very comfortable for our quick one day family trip to Chennai. Maintained very clean and the breakfast provided was good. The host been very responsive with our booking details and guidance on few question we had on location and reaching the place and kind enough to extend the stay by an hour to accommodate our request. We relied on Uber for most of our travelling need and the we had no issues in getting cab/auto at short notice from this place.

Quiet location, construction next door notwithstanding; breakfast and coffee in the morning was a good way to start the day; Savitha was only a phone call away and she was there a few times during my stay. When I needed the sports channel on the TV, Savitha took care of it immediately so she was a hands-on manager

There is construction going on the next plot so expect noise, inconvenience and some pollution in early 2023. Buddha is the live-in caretaker but occasionally he needs a break too. I saw other guests asking for coffee/tea so in the morning hours, preparing a pot of coffee or tea and leaving it in the common area would be helpful to all
