Breakfast was superb with an incredible variety of products. Staff were super helpful and rooms were bright, clean and spacious.

On the last morning, my breakfast experience was awful. It opened at 7am with one staff member was still setting up the breakfast at 07:15. I waited 20 minutes for an orange juice and 25 minutes for a cup of tea and had to ask for it 4 times. Staff started to filter out around 07:15, even though the restaurant was filling up with guests. I noticed no management at this point. Sadly this spoiled my overall trip. 7am breakfast means 7am. Overall very poor governance.

We had 4rooms and I stayed with my family for 10nights when we attended an event in Chennai. There were many other people who had come for the same event staying here. The location of the hotel is very good and there are good places to eat nearby. The staff is welcoming and any request we made was promptly attended to. The breakfast was tasty specially the South Indian food. Mr Nazir and his catering team took good care of us and one day even arranged breakfast for all of us as early as 3.00am. We dined a couple of times at Chap Chay the oriental restaurant in the hotel and the food and overall experience here also was very good.

The standard rooms are a bit on the smaller side.

The Rooms are Well Appointed. The food was exceptional. In room dining was top class. Every item on the Buffet Breakfast was exceptional. Tasty and Healthy too. The Waiters were very friendly and helpful. The Car Valet Service was terrific . EV charging facility was so helpful.

The system of charging beforehand when you check in was not customer friendly. Also the system of asking to be paid by credit card at the time of food delivery conveys the message that you don’t trust the guest. Also front desk people have no idea of what EV Charging facility is at the hotel. This needs to change as many time a good EV charging facility is reason for choosing the hotel .

The room was clean and comfortable. The entire hotel is beautifully decorated and feels very luxurious. Breakfast was absolutely wonderful. The restaurant gets busy but the staff work hard and quick to fill up the buffet. The staff are incredibly nice and friendly, particularly the lady chef at the restaurant at breakfast who kindly explained different foods from the buffet and seemed genuinely happy to be working there. Also the lovely lady at reception who fixed our sarees!

The pool is lovely but there are only two loungers but otherwise everything was great!

The breakfast buffet was great at the Colony! I loved the Mysore vada and the baked yoghurt! Very unusual tastes! All the dishes I tasted at Chap choy were great! Staff in the restaurants and the hotel in general were extremely polite. Mr. Nazir was exceptionally helpful.

The day I checked in was Sunday 4th of May and the Colony was fully booked for the brunch buffet. I would have appreciated that there was one person designated to make sure that guests who had not booked their tables were discreetly guided to another area where arrangements were made for them. After all we were guests who were living in the hotel and should be given preference too. I was requested to move from my seat AFTER I had started my lunch. It was done very politely by Mr. Nazir who immediately set up a table for me away from the crowd and I was given great service:) I suggested that that could have been avoided had they put a RESERVED sign on tables which were booked.

Nice upscale hotel in Chennai. The staff was very polite and did their best to help with whatever I needed. Breakfast was awesome and the rooms were modern and comfortable. The gym is very small but has enough equipment.

The area is upscale, but not very convenient if you want to explore the city. A cab is necessary if you want to go to the center (walking also does the job, but that part of Chennai is not very walkable). Also, excluding breakfast and the hotel restaurant (which were amazing), I think you can possibly find similar accommodation in lower prices.

- Breakfast was fantastic and very creative; definitely the highlight for the property - There's a rooftop pool and bar, but it is modestly sized - The staff tries to help - Area around the property is quite walkable to some nice joints (forgot the names - but a nice South Indian place, an Ice cream place, etc.)

- The room was ill-equipped - had to call multiple times for simple things like hand soap, iron and ironing board, etc. - It was expensive for the quality of the overall property/experience.

Very beautiful property, conveniently located. The staff was so pleasant and helpful. I loved the room, it was huge and comfortable.

I wish the breakfast had more variety especially non vegetarian stuff, it was quite a shame we had discovered there was so many things you can order (its on a separate menu card but we didn’t see it till the last day). The desert counter should definitely be relocated into the main dining area, it feels a bit strange to leave the area just to get to that section.

The hotel and our room was modern and clean. The breakfast every morning was wonderful and had a huge variety of options. We also took advantage of a lovely Christmas dinner would have like to have taken advantage of the nice atmosphere of the poolside bar. Staff was very accommodating and helpful. This was the first place we stayed for a three week trip to India and it was a perfect start to ease in to our travels.

The neighborhood was not particularly walkable. When we did manage to cross the street, we were able to get to a grocery store with many international options to satisfy a picky 6 year old eater!

Beautiful Hotel with all the modern amenities in heart of Chennai. The property is centrally located but off the main road so it offers a bit more privacy. The hotel kindly accommodated our family of 5 adults with two rooms and an extra bed in one of the rooms. There are 3 restaurants and we ate at the buffet on main floor which offered a variety of veg/non veg, Indian and western foods that met the needs of our group. We had the opportunity to enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner and the food was quite tasty. Above all, the service at the RainTree was top notch. Everyone from restaurant staff, housekeeping to front desk was extremely friendly, personable and efficient. If you are visiting Chennai, I would highly recommend the RainTree Hotel.
