Before coming, our booking was upgraded to another Skallywags hotel location, just near the beach! Super comfortable to reach from the port, like 5 min walk. Our villa was super comfy and clean, there was everything we needed, like shampoo, soap, fan, refrigerator, drinking water, big mirror! The view from a villa was beautiful, to the greenery garden. The stuff was amazingly kind and supported. They helped us with all our questions. We even get free coconuts from one of them! Their breakfast were delicious. Moreover, portions were also huge! We will definitely be back to this place again!

Actually, everything was great. The only thing that there were sometimes mosquitoes in the bathroom, but it's not a big deal.

Scallywags provides a high standard of comfort. The room is spacious, everthing works well. Excellent bed and bedlinnen, cushions.Perfect for a secluded get away. The pool is lovely, often like a private pool when nobody else is around

Smugglers is in the middle of the village next to a mosque! The route to the hotel is not well posted. It is in a tiny back alley. Since breakfast is served at Scallywags by the beach, it is always quite a walk of 10min+. The breakfast menue was unfortunately scaled down due to season. Some of the staff members definitely need more training apart from improved language skills.

Wow! Just book it! Lovely bed, lovely towels, bathrobe, fantastic rain shower with hot water open to the Sky but with anti insect netting. Great AC, a small dipping pool. TV with a few movie channels. 2 min walk to main shopping area. Breakfast was pretty awesome. Their lunch was brilliant too, with free salad to go with it.

1. They didn't tell me when booking that their restaurant was a 10 minute walk around the coast. Not a deal breaker, but might suck if it was raining. The breakfast was pretty awesome 2. The smoke alarm battery needed replacing. Couldn't reach it to rake it out, so it beeped all night on my last night. No one's fault, so not a biggie.

Good location. Access to Scallywags resort area. Good value for money

Couple of things were misrepresented- 1) The picture of the bathroom shown on the booking page is different than the actual bathroom. Part of the bathroom is open to sky which some guests might not be comfortable with considering we could hear a big sound of gecko outside our room on one night. I was always worried stepping in the bathroom in the middle of the night 2) The breakfast although good was served at the scallywags resort ( again nice place by the beach) but is a 10 min walk from scallywags smuggler which wasn’t mentioned on the booking page

We loved our quiet and comfortable room. The outdoor bathroom was a unique experience that we enjoyed. The breakfast menu at the Beach Club had a great selection and the views were outstanding. Just know that breakfast is a 10-12 minute walk from Scallywags Smugglers to the Beach Club, but we had no issues with this.

As mentioned by other reviewers, the rooms would benefit from better lighting, especially reading lights. There are three keys to enter the property,and it would be very helpful if these were color coded for the doors to allow for easier access.

Great value. Our go to place on Gili Air. ❣️ We stayed in the Smugglers accomodation area in the centre of the Island. Didn't use small pool area but nice and quiet. Good supply of lotions and potions. Fridge was handy. Good size room. Clean overall. Bed was super comfy. Slept well. Can hear prayers early a.m. but quite peaceful. Good size shpwer. Hot water. Air con was silent and good.Only 10 min walk to breakfast and beach area. Brekky had a good selection and was very tasty but we preferred it when it used to be buffet 😋 Free sunbeds on beach in good condition for guests and customers. Great check in - not 24/7 but answers whatsapp pretty fast. Great attitude from all staff. Thankyou 🙏

Cups in room needed a better clean. Room kettle did not work but we had our own + cups. Water dispenser in room empty but no biggies. Still 10/10 🙏

Rooms were large and had great amenities including safe, robes and filtered water jug. The aircon worked well to keep the room cool. It is in a quieter area but there are still a few restaurants around. The breakfast was good and served at another Scallywags hotel by the beach about a 10-15min walk away. There are no staff on site so when you arrive you have to message staff to meet you but they arrive in about 10 mins.

The wifi was not good! If you have to do some work using wifi I would not recommend staying here. We could also see used water jugs in the fridge that had not been washed from previous guests.

The location is walking distance to the harbour. The room was spacious and it felt nice from the very first step. We (guests) had free access to the beach club and the sun-beds. The staff were very responsive. Scallywags have a several services. They helped us with the fast boat transfer and also private snorkelling tour.

We did not know that the breakfast was served in another facility which was 10 mins away by walk. (The walk was pleasant and the breakfast was at the beach) Wifi connection was very poor.

Booked this last minute with low expectations and it really exceeded our expectations. The room is big, with a fridge, kettle, water tank, shampoo etc, dressing gown, beach towel, safe. Really quiet and private... Sure there is the mosque close by but personally it didn't bother us! What we loved was the breakfast - the fresh mango juice, coffee and breakfast. They had sunbeds and we could go from there to the beach front & snorkelled with turtles, fish... Priceless!! Oh and the staff are so kind. They were so lovely at the breakfast and the young guy who cleaned our room for us. We extended 2 more nights. Thanks !!

Scallywags with definitely be my go to every time I visit the gilis! The facilities, the staff, the service was all fantastic. I stayed at smugglers and had a beautiful room with a private porch/patio area that was very zen like with statues, trees, and wooden deck. The room was a good size with high functioning air conditioning, a refrigerator that was already on and cold with cold water pitchers in it, and there was a 5 gallon water dispenser which was great as well. The bathroom was clean with plenty of towels, soaps shampoo, and conditioner, a rain shower and the ceiling to the shower was open air and you could hear the birds singing. The bed may have been the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in with great pillows and a down comforter I slept in almost everyday. They also had black out curtains as well if you wanted pure darkness and you couldn't hear morning prayers at 4am atleast in my room. The pool was always nice and cold because it doesn't get too much sun which is a blessing on gili air because it is hot all day until dark. The food was also spectacular with great service although from smuggler its a 5ish minute walk to the beach club but it's a great walk when everyone on gili air is friendly. I really did enjoy my time at scallywags, I even extended my stay a night. I highly suggest it and I'll be back for sure. Mahalo nui loa
