Just returned from a 10 day stay at Villa Capung Mas. Hubby and I were looking for a quiet off season break from work. We couldn't have found a better location for just totally relaxing, yet close enough to the more lively Ubud we all know.... It was unbelievably quiet during the daytime with just cicadas and frogs to serenade us at night. The property is located behind Jl Bisma and comprises just 6 bungalows set in lush well kept gardens. The swimming pool sits overlooking a spectacular steep-sided forested ravine, and although there is some building work going on down below, it’s unobtrusive and not in the least disruptive. Our bungalow (we stayed in Room 6, classed as superior double), which consisted of a large bed/sitting room and an equally large bathroom with both bath and outdoor monsoon shower, was well appointed and immaculately clean. Breakfasts were enormous and there was sufficient choice in the menu to allow us plenty of variety: Indonesian meals, eggs with bacon and sides, smoothies, juices, tea and coffee etc. Served to order, choice of locations, eg, gazebo in the garden, bedroom verandah or in the restaurant. Even in the swimming pool apparently although we didn't try this! Our world became pleasantly very small: pool, gardens, verandah during the day, the superb local Warung Gauri situated immediately by the Villa entrance for dinner, and Casa Luna – short 500mtr walk away for a nightcap and a piece of cake! I have to say, nothing was too much trouble for the four staff members who looked after us so well. Very quickly we were on first name terms like we were old friends; Dewi, Putu, Adit and Jaya. They made our stay so much more pleasurable. Room cleaned on demand, little errands run, useful advice, etc. On our last day we were sent off with a packed breakfast of pancakes and fresh. Big thanks to you all, see you again for sure!

Amazing pool view. Staff was very helpful and super responsive to requests. Garden area is also beautiful. Location seemed perfect for what we were looking for. Hotel is really close to main roads and attractions, but a nice couple minute walk away from the hecticness.

These villa rooms were located on stunning garden grounds. So close to busy Ubud but just far enough away for such a quiet and peaceful stay. My son loved feeding the fish in the morning and we all loved our daily breakfast. The room was large and we loved the garden style bathroom with a massive bath, shower and seperate toilet. It was a perfect 4 nights! I was worried about the path from the road as cars cannot directly access the property but the walk was short and no issue at all (coming from a heavily pregnant lady). When we left they even carried our luggage on scooters which was awesome!

Beautiful garden, huge pool, spacious room with good air con and tea/coffee facilities. The villas are well spread out, with foliage between each villa for privacy. Location was super convenient! Walked to many restaurants, spas, yoga (Honeymoon Yoga) and Ubud centre. As per other reviews, you do have to walk to hotel from the street (cars can’t reach it) but it’s a pleasurable stroll on a wide concrete path amongst rice paddies. Staff were really helpful and lovely! Breakfast was a little hit and miss but mostly happy!

The lighting in the bathroom was a bit dark, the fake plants in the bathroom were a bit worse for wear (from open shower). Grounds were swept daily but the pool area was in need of a good scrub, both inside pool and around the pool. Nature Consideration: As the property is in a beautiful natural setting you do get some ants, wasp (or similar), mozzies and geckos and can hear frogs as well. We had a monkey visit our villa on the roof at night as well. This did NOT bother us BUT it may affect others :)

It's difficult to describe just how wonderful this place is, it may be the best hotel experience we ever had. From the moment we arrived the staff did its utmost to make us feel at home. The garden is simply stunning and the villas are spacious and provide every comfort. It's also very quiet to be so close to the center of Ubud. The staff was very helpful with information about the surrounding area or possible daytrips. To top it all off, the breakfast has an a la carte menu and everything we tried was delicious. It was a bit like paradise on earth!

The breakfast choice was very good and the food was presented very well. The staff were very helpful and pleasant to deal with. The terraced gardens are quite beautiful and feature quite a few ponds which house huge Koi (Carp). On our last day we were able to feed the fish. Vill Capung is situated behind Japan Bisma and the access is along a path at the side of rice paddies and vegetable gardens. There are small restaurants which are dotted around the local area. The Villa is a peaceful haven, away from the hustle and bustle of Monkey Forest road.

Having to share the narrow access pathways with motor scooters as there are water filled ditches at the sides of the rice paddies and paths, and the lighting is quite dim. If you are elderly, it is worthwhile carrying a good torch (the Villa provides a torch) with you at night or use your iPhone torch to see where you are walking. Also be aware that the lovely gardens in The Villa are accessed by many steps which may be a problem for some.

This is a small group of villa’s hidden away from the hustle and bustle of Ubud’s main streets but less than 5 mins walk to bars and restaurants. The villa was nice and spacious and very clean with a gorgeous semi-outdoor bathroom and the staff were always very helpful and on hand whenever I needed anything. Nothing was too much bother for them. There are quite a lot of breakfast choices and they serve great Balinese coffee. I alternated each day between the omelette and the nasi goreng. Every afternoon they would also bring around a small afternoon tea which provided a nice little sugar hit when you’ve come back from a tour or a massage and you’re sitting by the pool.

This is not a bad thing but the villa is a little hard to find when you first arrive, especially at night. it is best to ask the taxi to park near the Guardian Pharmacy on JI Bisma. You then walk down the laneway diagonally opposite the pharmacy. At the end turn left and then first right down the path through the rice fields to the villa.

One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever stayed at! Every detail is designed with taste and great attention to detail. The maintenance is incredible. The rooms are super spacious, and the bathroom is simply breathtaking! We received outstanding hospitality from the staff, who welcomed us with warmth and care. Breakfast is chosen from a menu with plenty of options, and the possibility of enjoying it on the veranda adds an extra sense of privacy. The location is fantastic! The villa isn’t the cheapest, but it’s absolutely worth every penny.

Keep in mind that there is no direct car access to the villa. If you have large suitcases, you’ll need to walk about 200-300 meters. It’s not a big issue, but it’s good to know in advance.

The rooms are in need of maintenance, sealing of cracks and around windows and doors The bath tub needs to be re enamelled and cannot be used in current form With the poor sealing, multiple ant heaps which might be a problem for some Finding the villa itself can be a challenge- it is located down paths from the road itself, Our driver was very helpful and confirmed the path but it is an 8-10 min walk. With large bags this might be a challenge as you carry your bags to the villa along this path.

We had a wonderful stay at villa Capung Mas Ubud. The villa is a little walk (2mins) off the main street Jalan Bisma and privately set among the most stunning gardens . The cottages are traditional bali and there are currently on 6 villas so its beautifully private and quiet. We had a villa next to the pool and stayed 4 nights - most of the time we had the pool to ourselves . Agung and the rest of the staff went out of their way to accommodate anything we needed including laundry/ late checkout/ pool towels and more. The villa has its own filtered water fountain- comfy beds and great aircon. We will definitely stay here again. A private and peaceful oasis in the heart of Ubud.
