Incredibly friendly, attentive and helpful staff - it’s rare that I’ve been so uniformly impressed by a team like that. Beautiful grand building and a huge bedroom - we were upgraded on arrival. We particularly enjoyed having a drink and meal in the Cellar Bar, although more formal dining options were available in the brasserie.
Our bedroom was on the fourth floor in the eaves. Whilst it was very spacious, it only had two small windows which (understandably) had only limited opening. There was no air conditioning in the room. As a result of both the above, the room got uncomfortably hot during the night (in April) albeit eased a little bit by the electric fan provided.

Beautiful setting - the building (exterior and interior) as well as the grounds. Just stunning!
Breakfast was included and it was fine/mediocre. We stayed in numerous places in Ireland with way nicer breakfasts. Again, it was sufficient but expected more/better from a place of this caliber Toilet was broken and annoying to have to go down multi stairs to use the public restroom. No one onsite came to examine it and seems they reached out to a plumber but we didn't see them (24 hours)

We wanted to spend part of our holiday in Ireland in a country house hotel and Cahernane House met (or exceeded) all of our expectations. The hotel is simply lovely, the ambiance is genteel, and you literally feel as if you've gone back in time to a much more elegant and graceful world. The lush and beautifully planted gardens, which you glimpse while coming down the long driveway from the main road only hint at the attractiveness of the setting. If floral patterned wallpaper, chintz fabrics, and Georgian-period furniture set your heart fluttering, then staying at Cahernane House Hotel will satisfy your 18th Century soul. But not all is so last centuries; our bathroom was tiled floor to ceiling and had a modern, walk-in, no-step, over-sized shower containing Elemis beauty products. Of course, you would expect complimentary dressing gowns (bathrobes), slippers, a towel warmer for the fluffy towels, tea and coffee making, etc., etc., but did I expect the Elemis lavender-scented pillow spray? I did not, but using it made falling to sleep in the very comfortable bed that much easier. Breakfast, which we had included in the room rate, was cooked to order (no grab it buffet here) by staff who ensured that your tea, coffee, juice, toast, etc. was refreshed as often as you asked. A drink in the hotel's ground floor pub was the perfect ending to each of the nights we stayed and, on the last night, the group of locals at the next table started singing, but we were in Ireland, so that was in fact expected.

My bed was AMAZING. I had been travelling for over a week and slept in a variety of beds, but this was by far the best and I had a fantastic night of sleep. Love my garden space outdoors, I sat outside with a coffee and enjoyed the beautiful back lawn. The breakfast was also very good.
The woman who checked me in could have been friendlier. I felt like I was bothering her. The staff at the more casual restaurant where I ate dinner basically ignored me for about 30 minutes. Not a peep, a how are you doing, nothing. This was out of character for Ireland.

Clean, friendly staff. Comfortable beds. Lovely selection of food for breakfast
Path from car park to our accommodation was gravel. Difficult to roll suitcases on it. Lady at reception repeatedly asked if we are ok to carry them in the path as she has hurt her back and can’t help us. We found it a little awkward. A concreted path or a pavement suitable for suitcases would have been a solution to this.

This was our favorite hotel of the trip! We wish we could have stayed more than one night. Our rooms were huge and each was unique. The shower was amazing and the bathroom had heated floors! Grounds were beautiful and we even saw a majestic stag in the field from our window. We got in super late but were able to have drinks in the wine cellar even after the bartender left.. the night porter was available to get us more if needed. There were bikes available to use but we didn’t have time to take advantage. I want to return to Ireland just to stay here again!
Nothing!

From the moment you walk into the hotel the history and the quality surround you. The attention to detail, the quality of the food and the great staff make it a relaxing and pleasurable experience. My partner and I will have long lasting memories from our visit.
A quieter fan in the room would be useful, it's a minor thing but it was a humid day and we needed the fan to help cool us in the evening.

Comfiest beds we’ve ever slept on. Nice to have a door opening out to the garden.
The Cellar Bar menu was adequate for dinner but quite limited and there was no ambience. At breakfast, you need to ask for a proper coffee or you’ll get drip filter by default. Not good enough at these prices. Also, it wasn’t clear whether breakfast was table service or self service - pastries and jams were in another room. Toast had to be ordered separately and took ages.

Turning into the long driveway was a magical introduction to the Cahernane house. It felt like I was arriving at a manor. The check-in experience was easy and my room was fantastic. While it was too cold to enjoy, there was a little bistro table outside of my room – alongside some cows. The grounds are beautiful and the location is amazing – the perfect start to my ring of Kerry journey. It's a bit far from downtown Killarney (to walk) but there's good shopping and pubs in downtown.
The building is cozy and large, but some of the common spaces felt a bit outdated/not very welcoming. I liked to stay in my room vs. spend time in the lobby. Also, the Cellar Bar was a bit slow and not as good as I anticipated.

Beautiful old house with a welcoming roaring fire in reception. Our bedroom was gorgeous and spacious and the views were outstanding. Breakfast was held in a beautiful dining room. The breakfast was substantial and delicious. I went for a pre breakfast walk in the most amazing countryside. I loved every minute of my stay at Cahernane house.
personal preference is for a cooler bedroom.
