Room was lovely and clean, well equipped for our family. Staff were absolutely brilliant, everyone we interacted with was both friendly and professional. The reception team in particular were so accommodating and pleasant to deal with. The pool was a great bonus for our kids.

Food in the restaurant was a little pricey for the standard of what we got. I would also suggest self-service coffee be made available for the breakfast buffet - when you are in a rush in the morning, it would be great to be able to get your own tea or coffee straight away without having to ask staff.

All was fantastic, large comfortable bed, hot powerful shower, spacious clean modern room. Great value and a really lovely building.

We were asked upon check-in if we could like to add on breakfast, which we did. Breakfast was served until 11am and despite being there at 10:30am there was limited food left. I had to ask for brown bread and the selection of hot food was minimal. There were also other elements no longer available (fresh fruit). This was disappointing considering we were within the timeframe that breakfast was supposed to be served and that we had paid for it. This was the only downside to an otherwise lovely stay.

Loved the family room it was soo spacious and comfortable. Very clean and facilities in the room were excellent. The staff and food in the bar were exceptional. Very attentive.

Reception staff were not very engaging when we arrived. They didn't give us any information about the pool and dining facilities available. we had to ask about the leisure facilities and dining on arrival. Also the pool has hair in the water which was slightly off putting.

Breakfast was beyond expectations, gluten free options and a wide range of hot and cold breakfast. The spa was wonderful and great value for money. The room is spacious and comfortable, lovely shower, comfy bed, TV and small desk. Did not avail of the dinner service, but was permitted to order food from a local takeaway and eat it in the room!

Located a bit far out of the town with no bus service, staff did offer to call a taxi for me.

The hotel foyer was beautifully decorated, spacious, and luxurious, with ample seating to enjoy the lively atmosphere. The staff were friendly and helpful, enhancing the overall experience.

The breakfast room is part of the bar, which isn’t ideal. For a hotel of this size, a separate restaurant that could double as a breakfast area would be more appropriate. Returning to the bar for breakfast after having just left it a few hours earlier isn't the most pleasant experience.

The reception was very quick, practical, polite and showed all professionalism and kindness. The room is sensational and the pool is absolutely wonderful. Very clean and no harmful cleaning products. Everything was wonderful.

The sockets near the bed are different from the Irish standard. It would be interesting if they changed them or put in an extension or adapters so that we could use the sockets near the bed.

The hotel was very clean and well maintained. It was lovely and warm with lots of parking. We were there for a local wedding and they had a night porter present which made checking in easier after a long day. Staff were lovely.

The fact we paid for breakfasts (which is fine) but then being asked for an extra charge for a coffee like a latte / flat white etc. Feels a bit Ryanair like and left a poor taste in my mouth to be honest. Never seen that before

A slight mix up at check in which was resolved very quickly excellent reception staff. Our room was a typical hotel room good size clean with everything you could need. The bed was superb one of the best nights sleep I have had in a hotel. The food in the restaurant was superb highly recommend.

Very very disappointed with the breakfast. We arrived down for breakfast at 8.15am. The spread looked brilliant unfortunately the hot breakfast was cold with some components such as the potatoes and black pudding inedible considering the quality of the food the night before this left us with a downbeat feeling on departure for our 200+ mile drive home.

The Great National is located close to Ballina town by car. It is easy to find and has good car parking. The hotel is very quiet and nice and looks to have been recently refurbished as it is absolutely spotless. The complimentary newspaper is a nice touch and they do an excellent coffee and lunch. The bar staff are very friendly. I enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend The Great National.

The bedroom was very warm and I could find no obvious heating controls to make the room cooler.

Lovely hotel, just on the outskirts of Ballina, yet 5 min drive in. Quiet, excellent to relax. Staff in each part, including cleaning staff are great and very accommodating.

Just minor personal details such as sockets by the bed, extra hooks for towel by the sink in the bathroom and extraction ventilation in the bathroom.
