The property itself was very nice. It’s a large hotel with many different sections. The ac worked great. There was a nice balcony on the 2nd floor for all the occupants use that was delightful. Although, they don’t want you to put up the umbrellas because of the wind, and it is quite sunny up there. The breakfast was included and was a typical hotel breakfast, scrambled eggs, bread, pastries and fruit. There is an elevator in the building as it’s been renovated, so access to the rooms is nice. The staff were nice and someone is at the reception desk from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm. We liked the location as everything seemed to be no more than a 15 to 20 minute walk.

The room was clean but felt somewhat barren. The bathroom could use a shelf and a few more hooks for towels and things. The major down side to this hotel is the parking. It is in the old section so getting your luggage to the hotel is challenging and then you have to park the car in a parking garage and walk approx. 15 minutes uphill to the hotel. This is not unusual for hotels in the old city but it could be problematic for anyone with mobility issues. They charge 5 euros for a beach towel if you want to go swimming, there is a swimming platform close by.

Great location on the small island of Ortigia. Staff was very helpful. If you have never been to Ortigia before the hotel can be hard to find. The staff went out of their way to help us locate the hotel and added our rental car license plate to the ZTL zone. Rooms were big and clean and the building itself was gorgeous. Just 1 block away from the sea where you can swim, blocks away from restaurants, 10 minute walk away from most everything else on the island. Breakfast was great with a nice spread of fruit, pastries, beverages, etc. Perfect place! Would definitely recommend.

Only one niggle: I was happily surprised to discover a washing machine in the room. However it smelled horribly of mold so my excitement was quickly extinguished.

We loved this place, it’s a huge old theatre that’s been renovated into several large apartments. Our space for 2 adults and 2 babies was enormous, with a private terrace. The breakfast was better than we expected with buffet style continental, bacon and eggs and they made fresh coffee to order. They even had robes and slippers and fragranced toilet roll. It was so clean and in the best location for local shops, bars, restaurants and the beach. Food and local crafting was awesome and we even went and watched a traditional puppet show a couple of minutes walk away. Highly recommend you book! We will certainly stay there again.

They charges €20 per night for a cot which felt excessive compared with other places. For the quality of the place we were willing to pay. Could also do with a new corkscrew.

Wow! The images online do not do justice to this very interesting hotel. I thought the name Magic Lantern referred to Alladin’s lamp but no. It’s much more interesting than that. It is in reference to the name given to historical projection devices invented in the 17th century for entertainment and education. The common areas in the hotel house old projectors and framed images from old classic movies. So cool! The hotel evidently hosts film nights occasionally in their small theater. The inner architecture of the place is very interesting with rooms leading on to other roomsand it has a very Mediterranean seaside feeling. The decor is simple and just perfect I thought. Very arty and well done. I was not expecting such an interesting place.

Bed/mattress could be updated for comfort.

Annamaria and her crew were brilliant communicators. Annamaria especially, always followed through with our queries. The location was absolutely beautiful and centrally located to all amenities and sites of interest. We took the offer of the hotel’s car valet which worked brilliantly for us. The room was very large and comfortable with a kitchenette and best of all, it had a balcony which my husband loved. The hotel itself was spectacular and authentically renovated. The daily breakfast was delicious and plentiful and Tony, responsible for the breakfast, was charming and friendly. We simply LOVED our stay at Lanterne Magiche and we plan to recommend this hotel to friends.

Newly renovated place in calm neighbourhood, nice breakfast and room as well as the rooftop terrace with a great sea view! The room was spacious and comfortable.

I booked the studio but was not informed by the hotel nor booking.com that I will be charged an additional fee for a friend who came over for drinks. It was a bit awkward to get told that staff have observed non guest appearances twice, where explanations have to be made. At least inform upfront about accommodation guidelines and rules.

We stayed here only one night but felt like home. Special thanks to Anamaria at recpetion desl who helped with our reservation, gave wonderful recommendations and orientation of Ortigia. The suite was exactly as on photograph, spacious, clean with free toiletries and towels provided. There was even charming balcony looking to the quiet street. Next day we enjoyed wonderful breakfast and we were able to leave the luggage next to reception desk before leaving to next destination. We hope we will come back soon!

Great Location. The staff was very friendly. And, it had a nice breakfast with the stay.

I booked a room with a suite with a "sea view." The pictures on the website of the suite were actually from two different suites. So, our room only had one view down a longer alley, and you can only see a bit of the sea. I have attached a picture. Because I wanted a true sea view and it was important to me, I should have asked more questions or booked a different room or property.

Location - just in Ortigia Island of Siracusa. Large comfortable apartments, pretty good beds. Rooms were impeccably clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. I like morning walk along the sea to parking place (Talete) which is about 10-13 min from the hotel. All major sights of Ortigia as well as restaurants are in walking distance.

The only negative issue I see is lack of wardrobes or spaces for guests belongings and textiles. It is not easy to find hotel for the first time - but this is not negative, it is just matter of fact - Ortigia is labyrinth of little streets and lanes.

The location is great, on a quiet pedestrian street. It was easy to stop the car nearby for loading and unloading and valet parking was available as well as easy off-site self parking a short walk away. The whole island of Ortigia is easily walkable so the car would only be required for excursions off the island. We were two couples and one had a smaller room with a lovely balcony with a sea view, the other a large room with kitchenette and clothes washer. Both rooms were comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with many choices. There is also a roof terrace with lounge chairs that anyone in the hotel can access. Access to swimming in the sea off the rocks one block from the hotel was a plus!

Hot water could "pause" during the morning shower rush before breakfast but returned soon after.
