Excellent location & very helpful staff who waited patiently for us to find our way there before closing for the siesta period. The rooms in the main hotel are really spacious. Breakfast (for an extra cost) was good.

The external public areas are lovely but the rooms are shabby. We started off in the annexe (not main hotel) in a room that looked out at a nice courtyard but the room itself was dark and the bathroom 'tired' looking. The chairs in the courtyard needed a good clean so it wasn't possible to sit on them. We were able to move into the hotel itself into a lovely big space but it needed a refresh: the toilet seat was wonky and the sofa sagged. The bedroom with two beds was cramped (no need for such a large wardrobe in it).

Breakfast at €8 excellent value and being march there was a log fire in the breakfast room. the architecture is very interesting. The sofas in the suite were very comfortable as were the beds with duvets. I would recommend it and definitely rebook the hotel again

The lighting at the top of the wooden steps to the top bedroom. I would suggest at night it might be precarious for someone with poor eyesight coming down to the bathroom. There was no light in the small kitchenette cupboard to see to pour boiling water from the kettle. Suggest one table lamp in lounge seating area would improve the ambience and facilitate reading. Toilet seat was wobbly needed fastening. That said I would definitely stay again

I loved the look and feel of the property. The hotel has tons of character. The room was very spacious and comfortable. It came with a small kitchenette. Breakfast, which included eggs made to order, was only €8 in the renovated historic dining rooms. My off season rate was extremely reasonable. The only thing I didn’t like was the poor internet reception. That might have been because my room was in a different building from the main area. I was worried while walking over that my room might not be as nice as others in the main building, but it was wonderful.

The hotel is like a small museum to spend your time in Syracuse. The atmosphere is cozy and peaceful. It is close to all the attractions in Ortigia, but it is on a quiet little street away from the main streets and it makes it reyally relaxing place. The team is kind and attentive and you have enough personal space without being deprived of support for your needs.

There is no view from the hotel but it's normal in the narrow streets in the old town. The sea is a street away and the views are quite close. The facility is really old and it has its specifics - no elevator, old shower cabin and kitchen corner. But you have all that you need and the rooms are spacious and nice.

Quiet, large one bedroom apartment. We also had a balcony with an ocean view. Breakfast had the usual cheese and ham plus a whole array of baked goods. Eggs were prepared upon request

One of the stuff persons was friendly and knowledgeable, the other less so.

This is a gorgeous property. We stayed in a 2 bedroom with a kitchenette. Everything was spacious and well equipped. The bedding was scrumptious which was important as we were there in February. This room even had a little courtyard off of the main living space. The location was excellent being about a block to the sea. Perfect for a seaside stroll around the island. We found many dining options close by both casual and upscale. We parked at Talete which worked out well as it was about a 15 minute walk.

We liked everything about it! The location was superb, like a secret gem! The building is historical, very beautiful. The most ancient mikveh in European is at the same building, so much worth the visit.

Although our room was lovely, very stylish and had a lovely terrace amidst the roofs, the bathroom could get better care. The shower head was not holding well, and the cabin was missing a door. Still it did not take away our satisfaction during our stay.

Alla Guidecca is an upscale boutique hotel in an extremely charismatic location. If it is offered at a competitive price, suggest you stay here. Comfortable, well-maintained, ample space, perhaps even romantic. The best pillows I have had in all my travels. Alla Guidecca is perhaps 1 km from the bridges crossing onto the island or Ortigia. It is in an old city, that limits vehicles, has stairs, you have to carry or roll luggage, sidewalks in places are very narrow or non existant. Visitors should be fit enough to accept these challenges. After a long walk and carrying luggage up many stairs, you are rewarded with scenic views and a very comfortable place to stay.

Usually at places with a mini kitchen some cleaning products, scrubbers, dish cloths are provided by the establishment. Mine had none. Generally guests will leave a kitchen in a cleaner state if these are provided. Also, usually when a mini kitchen is offered there are some basic things provided by the establishment, e.g. salt, pepper, a few packs of sugar, tea, ect. Even a hotel room has these. Also guests, buy and leave things they not completely consume, often condiments, coffee, etc.. My unit's cupboard was bare. Not sure if a bare cupboard policy is Alla Guidecca's, or just my mini kitchen. A wine glass would have been nice. Wine in a juice glass is just not right.

Spacious apartment in the old town. Big terrace with see view. Comfortable bed. Fridge and "kitchen counter". A quite nice bathroom.

Our superior room was NOT located in the main building, but next to it, in an another house. 45 steps on the 3rd floor. (but forr us, it is NOT negative, as we had sea view.) Very poorly equipped kitchen. No detergent, sponge, tea towel, sugar, salt, anything..... Take care: the water is NOT drinkable. :) Take care 2: It is NOT a renewed room, at all. It is definitely NOT a boutique hotel, but the place and the price (55 euros/night) was fine. Do not expect more from it. Despite of the "negative" issues, for this price, it is fine, because of the location, and the view. I would definitely choose it again for this price.

Our room was enormous, and included two bedrooms, plus another room with a sofa, table and chairs, and a tiny kitchenette (fridge, sink, stovetop). The location was excellent, with great walking through the narrow streets and alleys, easy access to the sea and the many good restaurants in town. The building itself was very interesting and had many pieces of lovely old furniture about. Not to mention what remained of the old Jewish baths beneath the hotel. Breakfast was very good.

The glassware in our kitchenette was soiled and there was no way for us to clean it (soap or dish towel). The mattress was hard, though that's a personal choice. I could have done without the very modern oil paintings in the room. I didn't like them personally, but they seemed jarring in this historic place.
