The place is a decent 3-star hotel with a reception, so you do not have to inform about the precise time of your arrival, which can be of help in situations with late or cancelled trains to the city. The hotel is located in the area popular with students, so you will find many osterias, bars and restaurants with reasonable prices. The breakfast was tasty and sufficient, the lady in the basement breakfast room was happy to bring you another cup of cappuccino. Everyone was smiley and friendly.

When booking a hotel, I have three key requirements: central location, cleanliness, and a comfortable bed—and Hotel University delivered on all three. The room was spotless, the bed was very comfortable, and the overall experience was great. Additionally, the staff were consistently friendly and helpful, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. If you're looking for a well-located, clean, and comfortable place to stay in Bologna, this hotel is definitely worth it!

One thing to note—the shower space is quite narrow, but this seems to be a common issue in many Italian hotels. It wasn’t a dealbreaker for me, but something to keep in mind if you prefer more spacious bathrooms. Also the pillows were on the thinner side, which some guests might find uncomfortable, but there were plenty available, so I stacked a few to reach the comfort level I’m used to.

Great location to all the main attractions in Bologna! The room was clean. Air con in the room which was great. About 20 min walk to the train station. Bed was comfortable and I appreciated the extra pillows in the closet. My room also had a small fridge and kettle.

When you enter the stairwell to go up to the room, the hotel felt hot and stuffy. You could also hear some outside noises but this is probably unavoidable in a busy city like Bologna

Liked the location, the fact that it was small and cosy, that it was quiet and welcoming and that I had heat - as I travelled in December, so quite cold outside. The place was also easy to find, on foot, from the bus stop, so all the better. All in all, it's a nice stay if you have a couple of days or a little over and if you're looking for a nice, quiet, cosy place to rest your head.

The location was perfect, being easy walking distance to everything we wanted to see in the city. The hotel accepts pets, and we were especially impressed at how welcoming and kind all the staff were to our dog. In fact, in every respect, all the staff were excellent. Having the secure underground parking was a real bonus and the breakfast was superb.

I honestly cannot find fault with this hotel.

Location is great.. 15 min. Walking distance to Bologna Centrale which is the transportation hub of north Italy and 7 min. Walking distance to the heart of Bologna. The room was clean and comfortable.. Front desk staff was helpful and friendly...

Breakfast was good but it needs more variety. Each person has only one cup of coffee or tea is not acceptable :(( maybe it's not a rule of the hotel, but the lady who served us drinks had said that it's the way and this could be her own opinion.. however we had to deal with her anyway..

The location is one of the main benefits of this hotel! You are roughly a 10 minute walk from the main square and only about 20-30 from the central train station. There’s lots of small bars and restaurants in the area too! It really comes alive in the evenings. Generally felt very safe especially with the lovely staff on desk 24/7. Most of the staff also spoke some English which helped with communication a lot. The breakfast was also lovely, no complaints there!

My only comment would be the shower head which did not stay up properly unless the water pressure was high enough, but this didn’t really impact our stay nor would it deter me from staying here again!

I was amazed by the staff always so nice and helpful, the hotel cleanliness, location, comfort, and value for money. Could not have chosen a better place. When I first booked, I thought this could have been a hotel mainly designed for students, but not at all. It is perfect for adults who are looking for a quiet stay. Definitely recommend! I believe the hotel should be a 4 rather than 3 stars.

The location was excellent, right in the historical center and very close to the main attractions, just a 15-minute walk from the train station. The receptionists are very helpful.

Everything was fine, but when I entered the room, I found two long hair in the shower and on the toilet floor, likely from the cleaning staff.

The location is amazing, central, at walking distance to main attractions. The room was clean, the reception staff very friendly and helpful. The receptionist provided all information needed and even more to make sure we are going to have a memorable stay in Bologna.

The breakfast quality could be improved. After "exploring" the hotel offer, we preferred to have breakfast at a downtown restaurant.
