We really enjoyed our stay at Steam House in Bologna. The B&B is located very centrally in the university district. The main sights are just a short walk away. The room was very clean and spacious and we immediately felt comfortable here. The rooms seem to come with air conditioning, but as it was winter when we stayed here, we didn't need that. The breakfast provided in the room was typically Italian. Overall, we had a lovely stay at Steam House and would recommend it!

we had room 5 which is along a corridor so further away from the bars at the front of the building, so nice and quiet. bed was comfy , shower was great, the breakfast in the room provided was meats and cheeses and then cereal bars etc with juice and water, i don't like a lot of breakfast so this was just nice. Valentino the receptionist was very friendly and helpful throughout the stay. off licence a few doors away, then a main Pam supermarket , left out the door then right at the main road cross then just across from there.

can't think of anything bad about our stay. we had to ask for extra pillows as only one each. maybe provide 2

The room (No.3) was enormous - decorated in "Steampunk" style so had a rustic/industrial feel to it. The room was cleverly "zoned" for sleeping, sitting and eating (with bed area, sofa & coffee table, fridge/food area with table and chairs). The bathroom was pretty spacious too - great shower! It was pretty central - not far to walk to bars/restaurants cafes etc and some of the main sights. Loved that they put breakfast in the room for you! This was done the day before, so you could please yourself as to when you got up/take your time over breakfast I liked that in was in what some might say was a "local street". It could be busy at night (even midweek - that was when we were there). But if you didn't want to partake in any of the bars - it felt safe enough just to head to your room. Also - quiet up there when the windows were closed. The staff were always delightful when we saw them!

It's a stretch to find anything to criticise - as I was pretty happy with everything. The only very minor comment I could make is that it would have been nice to have a less "processed" selection of breakfast foods. But this is a very personal preference and I appreciate they have to go with what the majority of people prefer. Also, as the fridge was available, it would have been very easy for us to pick up our own natural yoghurt. fresh orange juice and a few pieces of fruit. However - we didn't do this and ate what was left for us. Not all of it though each day - as it was so plentiful that we never managed to work our way through it. I'd say there was probably enough there to have breakfast then make up a packed lunch if you were that way inclined.

Location is great, exactly like I prefer - 15-20 min walking distance to the very center with most interesting points of interest. Room looks big with about 4 m ceiling and more than 25 m2 area. Breakfast was preliminary prepared as a set of crackers, and many different packed staff like milk, jam etc., also fresh bread and sliced bologna & chees. Small refrigerator, coffeemaker, tea pot, set of glasses and plates were available and operated

Check-in was organized by phone, it would be especially problem due to language communication, bad weather, or phone connection issue! We were lucky - we get in by phone

Room was very spacious for 4 of us, as was the ensuite bathroom. Beds very comfortable and the decor is attractive. The street was busy during our stay but once the windows are closed you can hear nothing! Management was very kind and allowed us to store luggage after check out, which made everything so much easier. It's a good location, walkable to city centre and with lots of shops, restaurants and bars within easy reach. There is a wonderful icecream shop a couple of doors down 😊

Good location. Can walk to all places of interest and loads of bars and restaurants nearby. The staff were lovely and friendly and helpful. The room was quiet and big and clean. All the things which are important to us got a 10/10.

Not much to dislike. It doesn't have a proper outside window so feels a bit subterranean. No idea what the weather was doing until we left the building. Shower a bit cramped but ok for us. Might be a bit awkward for a large person. Breakfast was convenient and adequate but nothing special. Fine for the price though. We weren't expecting a full on buffet!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Steam House Room & Breakfast. The room was beautifully designed with a perfect balance of modern and classic aesthetics, creating a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The location was ideal, situated conveniently in Bologna, making it easy to explore the city. The staff was warm and attentive, going above and beyond to ensure a pleasant experience. The breakfast was fresh, delicious, and a great start to the day.

The room is nice and clean, the windows are completely soundproof, the area is full of good restaurants. The breakfast is not the traditional one, but very nice from the hosts. Everything was perfect, thank you, we will choose this again.

Breakfast could be improved. There's a small breakfast area inside the bedroom with a basket and a small fridge. However most of the products are prepackaged which limits the options for people with allergies or food sensitivities. I understand this is the best way to avoid food waste but I think better food options could be provided like more bread and some fruit.

Steam is perfectly located in central Bologna, just 15 - 20 minute walk from the train and bus stations and then 7 minute walk to Piazza Maggiore, the main square in the city. Valentina is a perfect host and responds very quickly to any questions and also offers advice on good local restaurants (Anna Maria being one which I can vouch for!) The rooms we had were spotless with every need catered for! Towels are great - bath sheet size - and disposable slippers are provided. Breakfast is provided in your room with a selection of pastries, granola, bread, crackers, Nutella, jam and ham and cheese along with yoghurt, juice, milk, coffee and tea as well as bottled water. The mini fridge is great and having the breakfast available in the room means you can eat it at whatever time you like - perfect for me as I don’t eat til midday! The air conditioning works well and is quiet so can be left on at night when windows are closed. The bathroom is modern and in excellent order with soap and shower gel provided. If you need an extra blanket at night or decaf coffee, just ask and it shall be provided. There is a very lively bar downstairs but you can rest assured that once the windows are closed you can hear nothing!!! They are the best double glazed noise cancelling windows ever - truly miraculous how well they work! I will definitely be back to stay here whenever I am in Bologna!
