I stayed for 4 nights at Hotel Centrum Catania in August 2024. On booking, I asked for a room on a higher floor not facing the main street. Upon arrival, early, I was given a room exactly as requested (no 405). Despite not a big hotel (a boutique I should say) it is very good value for money. The room was a double, very fine and fairly large by Italian standards. The bed was large, good pillows, I slept very well. Big plus: minibar, safe, cable TV. AC was well placed (not facing the bed) and worked very well. Bathroom was large by any standards, although strangely enough the shower cubicle was small. Very good water pressure, good quality towels. Both room and bathroom were kept very clean by daily service. Breakfast was absolutely exceptional! The “dolci” (the sweet part) are homemade, varied and delicious! The service needs mention as all the receptionist I engaged with (3 + the landlady) were competent with recommendations, smiling, accommodating, helpful in any way possible. All these makes any stay a joy for the guest. Special mention to lovely Giuliana who recommended Trattoria del Cavaliere! Whenever in Catania I will gladly stay again at Centrum Hotel.

On the downside nothing really important. As said, the shower cubicle in my bathroom was tight (in an otherwise large bathroom). The lift is small and rather slow, but it is great it exists and works perfectly in Italy! Regarding the position, contrary to the name of the hotel, it is not exactly central, but not far from the historical center (5-7 min walk). However, it is helpfully located towards both the railway station and the main bus station (for Taormina, Siracusa etc). The bus stations for the airport bus (Alibus) are also fairly close to the hotel.

An excellent hotel within walking distance of the cathedral square. The breakfast was superb. It included scrambled eggs, a variety of cut meat products, cheese, and some baked sour dish. Then, yoghurt, a huge selection of cakes and sweets. Fresh and tasty fruit: watermelon, cherries, peaches, nectarines, bananas, apples, etc. The orange juice was delicious, and the coffee was made according to everyone's wishes. The staff was more than welcoming and supportive. The lady at the reception provided advice on all sightseeing matters, and she arranged for us a visit to one of the lidos for a short beach visit. Highly recommended!

The only issue I had was a weak wifi signal in my room. It worked perfectly in the lobby.

The location of Hotel Centrum is truly unbeatable. It offers easy access to all the major attractions, shops, and restaurants in the city. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a frequent traveler to Catania, you'll appreciate the convenience of being able to explore the city on foot. The room was impeccably clean, and the comfortable bed ensured a restful night's sleep after a long day of sightseeing. One of the highlights of my stay at Hotel Centrum was the exceptional service provided by the staff. From the front desk to the housekeeping team, everyone was incredibly friendly, professional, and always ready to assist with any inquiries or requests. They went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was nothing short of perfect. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of options and fresh coffee, It was a great way to start the day, and the attentive staff made sure that everything was well stocked and maintained. In terms of value for money, Hotel Centrum exceeded my expectations. from the hotel we also commuted by bus to Taormina and Syracuse which is short , smooth and affordable drive that takes you to the center of each city, 10 min walk from city center .

Our 8 night stay at Hotel Centrum was fantastic! All of the hotel staff were helpful, friendly, spoke English, and gave great recommendations on where to get bus tickets, restaurants, etc. They were able to arrange reliable taxi service for us. The location was walkable to both the central tourist area near the cathedral & the bus/train stations, and easy access to a pedestrian walkway to Bellini Theater to avoid walking busy narrow streets. The hotel & room were clean & we had one of the best bathrooms in Europe for a hotel this size (big & well lit). There was an elevator. The wi-fi worked well, it was quiet, comfortable temperature, had a refrigerator, there was plenty of light, space for luggage & clothing, and the TV was fine. The BREAKFAST was OUTSTANDING ~ a variety of homemade pastries, Italian cheese & cold cuts, savory quiche/appetizers, scrambled eggs, breads, cereals, fruit, juice & choice of expresso, cappuccino, hot chocolate or tea. They gave us some pastry & beverage prior to a very early taxi pick-up to the airport. One night after a long tour, the staff made a room service salad & beverages for us to have with some of our leftover pizza/sandwiches in the breakfast area & put the charges on our room.

We had no safety problems in the neighborhood, but returned to the hotel by 9:30 pm. There is a lot of graffiti everywhere throughout Catania. The streets were dirty, except for the Via Etna area & Cathedral Piazza.

I booked the hotel for access to the train station after flying into Catania before onward journey. My plans were disrupted due to an accident leaving Scotland and Paola helped move my booking to an alternative date with a little additional cost. On arrival, finally, we had a lovely suite and pristine sheets and toiletries. The bed was so comfortable and there was a terrace. Breakfast was good and all attention to detail was fantastic. A lovely hotel with a lovely team.

Nothing. The location you may think is not so nice but you are a 2 minute walk to Piazza Teatro with so many restaurants and a 10 minute walk to Via Etnea and all the attractions.

The staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and valued as a guest from the moment I set foot inside the door. I visited Catania 14 years ago and stayed in a teeny apartment over in the old town amongst the bustle of the markets and restaurants, but Hotel Centrum offered me a much more grown up and relaxing experience as a 40 year old woman travelling alone, who wanted to be near to the transport links for easy travelling. Upon arrival, I was offered an early breakfast, because I was leaving to catch a bus before 7:30am. As promised, at 6:45am they made me a huge jug of americano/ling black coffee (offered either cappuccino, espresso, americano etc)and let me just let me into the breakfast room to fill myself up with the delirious food on offer. The spread included: homemade cakes, tortes, freshly prepared and whole pieces of fruit, cereals, yogurt, tiramisu looking cream puddings, salamis, cheese, bread, cooked items, bruschetta…the list goes on! It was presented so beautifully and thoughtfully (unlike chain hotels clinical buffet arrangements). There were carrot and blood orange juices to refresh yourself with too. The room was spacious and very clean ( and cool with the AC!). I had a sweet little balcony to sit out on and enjoy a lovely cold drink on whilst gazing out at a fab view. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone anyone!

Perhaps some dairy free milk alternatives ( local almond milk even?)and it would have been amazing to have a vegan cake option ( an almond or chocolate torte/tart perhaps?), as I’m vegan and the others looked so good, but I wouldn’t hold this against them as the food looked superb for the vast majority who would definitely enjoy it! Plus, I was more than well-fed on what I could eat.

WOW !!! Excellent stay here. This was our first trip to Sicily and so glad we did. Hotel Centrum is ideally located and easily accessible to the Bus Termini and the Train Termini and a short walk to the main street in the city which is generally closed to traffic and packed with people walking. We walked our suitcases from the hotel to the train station to go to Taormina and we also did a day trip to Siracussa from here and highly recommend both those towns. Back to Hotel Centrum, room was a good size, bathroom was great, very clean and comfy. There are shutters and double doors to the balcony which kept noise and light out for a good nights sleep. There is a lift to get bags upstairs, you can can use all the time if you need to. It has charm and friendly and helpful staff 24/7 at the entry door. The breakfast downstairs is reminiscent of how a hotel should be, the spread of food was amazing. Guests are seated and offered coffe and then help yourself to juices, fresh fruit, hot eggs and bacon, bread, meats, cheeses, pastries, cakes and the list goes on. You won't leave hungry. They went out of their way to suply gluten free food for me including a large almond chocolate cake. I would definitely stay again.

Nothing to dislike with the hotel and we had a great 4 days in Catania.

A charming owner/manager who has travelled extensively and speaks fluent English. There was no problem about storing our baggage as we arrived several hours before check-in . The hotel is located mid-way between the central train/bus station and Via Etna (the main walking street) and is easy to find. An airport Alibus shuttle stop is about 80 metres away. The room was quiet and air conditioned. The hotel presents a fine buffet breakfast with many choices of delicious pastries.

Good location (close to the city center), if you are traveling from airport by public transport it's relatively close to the train station (900m) and bust stop for airport bus is right around the corner. Hotel offers you an opportunity to book a shuttle from the airport to the hotel, quite convenient. Very friendly and helpful staff. Room size is ok, bathroom comfortably spacious, aircon working well, breakfast really good (good variety of things to choose from).

We really liked the bathroom- spacious, light, had everything that you’d need. I liked that there was a safe in the room. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and couldn’t do enough for guests particularly Paola on reception who pointed out places of interest and places to eat.

The breakfast was good if you like a very sweet breakfast. There were savoury choices but not many at all. I would also have liked fresh juices as opposed to very sweet manufactured ones. The fruit on offer was not very plentiful or even fresh.
