I liked how close it was to the main train station. The Old World style furnishings were lovely. The good linens and fragrant soaps made for a Good shower * and a good night’s sleep.

*The shower door did not make a good seal and leaked onto the bathroom floor - and some water got on the wood floor of the bedroom. I spent about 15 min. soaking up the water and wringing out the towels. It should not have happened. For Early Breakfast, there was a dry piece of toast with jam-marmelade to go with the Nespresso coffee which was very good. It would have been helpful to provide paper napkins and bamboo utensils to spread the jam. Thank you to the Innkeeper for providing a napkin.

I received an unexpected upgrade to hotel Savoia. My overall experience staying at the hotel was fabulous. The hotel has been kept to a high standard which appears to be in its original build. Which is an experience in itself. Exceptionally clean and the food is of a high standard. (Breakfast and downstairs restaurant) However, the staff made our stay more enjoyable. Staffs friendliness and willingness to assist us inorder to achieve the upmost experience does not appear forced, comes from a place of genuineness. I would like to mention the front line person in charge of the breakfast who was exceptional at her job. Friendly, efficient and extended each morning her personal touch by delivering /remembering our drinks order. Best hotel service during our 5 weeks stay in Italy.

I didn't want to leave.

The room was as in the photo but the bathroom was a little tight, however, there was everything we needed. The breakfast was a generous buffet of goodies from scrambled eggs, pancakes, fruit salad, cereals and cold meats.

The bathroom was a little small but the shower was wonderful. The reception area as guests walk in is odd, I prefer a 'traditional' reception desk and a nicer lobby, but that is my opinion.

I had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Continental Genova. The location is excellent, right next to the train station, which made getting around the city super convenient. The facilities are also a big plus – the gym and SPA were clean, modern, and well-maintained, great for relaxing after a day of exploring. The cleanliness throughout the hotel was impeccable, and the staff were friendly, professional, and always helpful, which really made a difference in the overall experience.

The breakfast, while fresh and decent, felt a bit too simple for my taste – I would have appreciated a bit more variety or creativity. Also, the interior design is in an 1800s style, which, while clearly intentional and in good condition, just isn’t my personal preference. The furniture and decor, although well-kept, gave off a slightly outdated feel, even though the hotel is clearly refurbished and well maintained.

We were upgraded to the Grand Hotel Savoy (next door) to the Hotel Continental. Location is amazing across the street from the Genova Principe train station. Breakfast was wonderful - my parents were very happy with the wide selection, and my dad was most excited about a small "pot" of American style coffee available. Cappuccinos were great, and the selection of savory breakfast options were my favorite part. Bed was super comfy, and shower/water pressure was excellent. We were a bit sad we had only booked 1 night - perhaps in the future we could return!

It took 3 or 4 tries to get card keys that worked- we were upgraded to the Grand Hotel Savoy. Not a giant challenge, just frustrating as the other aspects of the hotel were wonderful.

The Double Room was ample for our 1 night stay. We requested a quiet room, knowing we were on a busy street near the train station. Our request was accommodated. No view to speak of, but quiet was our priority. Staff reached out to verify our arrival time, which they confirmed and accommodated. Very convenient location (you can see the train station entrance from the hotel entrance) and there were food options nearby. Given the proximity to the train station and situated next to the Genoa University campus, this is a bustling area. We loved the old-fashioned elevator! Note...one does have to go up a few steps to enter the hotel, and a few more to arrive at the reception area. Room was nicely decorated with convenient updates. The staff was pleasant. This hotel is connected to the Grand Hotel Savoia, which is very elegant and has a rooftop bar worth check out. Restaurants are located at both hotels, but we ate elsewhere while in other areas of the city.

Bathroom door was a little tricky to close...needed to be careful to keep sliding mechanism on track.

Location was great. Loved the sitting area near reception. Room was comfortable. Shower pressure was good. Bathrobes a plus. Near the train station Piazza. Within walking distance. Front desk spoke English well.

They didn’t offer us a map at check in. We were pretty obvious as tourists and not from the area. Maybe they only give out if requested. We sure could have used one. Day we were leaving noticed other customers were receiving maps at front desk. I’m being picky. Next time I’ll know.

We have stayed at Grand Hotel Savoi. Fantastic location, perfect for a long weekend and exploring the city. Close to the train station and the historical centre and the old harbour. The staff was kind and very professional. The breakfast buffet was 10/10. The rooftop restaurant is a beautiful place to watch the sunset from.

There seems to be a problem with the air conditioning system that couldn’t be switched off by us in the room. As we arrived it was freezing inside and one of us got sick. This was resolved after contacting the receptionist. The location is very loud in general, but we noticed very little from our room with the windows closed towards the courtyard.

This is actually a review for the neighbouring hotel (The Grand Savoia Genoa Hotel! due to being transferred from the neighbouring Continental Hotel next door who were full and transferred guests to the Grand Savoia. Everything! From the moment I arrived I felt pampered and was treated very professionally. The reception offered me an upgrade to a stunning executive room. For an additional €30. Upon entering the hotel I felt like I was sent back in time to a different era. The hotel was spotless and fresh. A very gracious serviceman helped me take my bags to my room. The prices of room services were reasonable given the nature of this 5* hotel. It was just such a perfect stay. Once in a lifetime awesomeness. I could go on all day showering this hotel with compliments. Oh the rooftop terrace with Jacuzzis was absolutely stunning with amazing views of the city. Regards, Heath

There was nothing not to like.

We were moved into the hotel next door, the Grand hotel Savoia. Unsure why. however, this hotel was beautiful and full of history. The pianist playing in the lounge bar each evening while having apperitivo was truely a highlight. the historical centre was only 5min walk away, as was the port and main train station. Lastly the breakfast was wonderful. Thanks to the lead host who made our breakfast very enjoyable. Overall, a wonderful stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Well the Grand hotel Savoia as this was where our room was.
