Hotel was very clean. Room service came everyday and our room was genuinly spotless. We stayed in a family room and both the room and bathroom were very spacious. The hotel staff were very kind. The Breakfast had a lot of variety and good quality, one of the best hotel breakfasts we had. The Garage the hotel recommends at the port is incredibly full and the port is very chaotic. We couldn’t find space in that parking area so the hotel recommend Piccapietra which was a lot more spacious and organised. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the hotel.

While the property is very central the surrounding area especially in the evening is quite sketchy. It took us time to get used to it as we stayed for multiple days, but still felt unsafe, even as a family of four if we came after 10pm. The AC was okay but due to the placement at the window it didn’t cool down the room as much, so some areas were cool while others remained hot.

Perfect location, we had a suite and it was a nice size for the three of us. We liked the furnishings, large windows, comfy beds, and everything was nice and clean. We also liked how the sofa was converted to bed each evening and put away each morning, which didn’t happen in other hotels we rented during our travel throughout Italy. We didn’t have breakfast at the hotel but enjoyed getting filtered water there and once brought some pastries and had them in that space. The space there was clean, had plates, cups, etc. oh and the front desk staff were super helpful. They got us cabs when we were away from the hotel; we just needed to text them via WhatsApp when we were ready to be picked up.

Breakfast had plenty of choice - fresh fruit, nuts, yoghurts, very good ham, cheese, fried eggs, bacon, bread, pastries, coffee machine etc.. Had 2 excellent restaurant recommendations from Stephanie on reception - we went to Il Tondin 3 nights (fantastic wine list and good food) and Le Collonne another night (would have been better if they hadn't run out of several dishes by the time the second sitting took place!). The location was very handy for the old town and surrounded by very narrow streets, but if you arrive by taxi then ensure in advance that the driver will take you to the door - ours dumped us a couple of streets away!).

The TV lacked an English TV channel (an all too common irritant in Italy and elsewhere).

The beautiful design and historic preservation of the palazzo. The helpful staff. The outstanding breakfast and access to the terrace and the fascinating library collection of art and architecture l. Even the music created a light jazzy atmosphere.

At first it took getting used to the pedestrian only access and the taxi pickup but again the staff made it easy to find our way in and out of the hotel. That is minor compared to the easy access to the sights in the historic district.

Very comfortable hotel close to the port area. Suitable for those not driving. Very helpful staff. Good breakfast.

Hotel is in a pedestrian area but we needed to get our car as close as possible. After a bit of pressure the hotel told us where the taxis drop hotel guests (50 meters from the front door) which we were led to by a very helpful staff member. It is possible to do in a Range Rover but not particularly convenient. We parked the car in the Port area car park - about a 7 minute walk from the hotel.

Hotel Palazzo Grillo, was outstanding and one of our favourite destinations ever. The whole package, the architecture of the hotel, the tasteful renovation and conversion from a Palace into a Hotel, the feeling of space in the communal areas such as the Lounge and staircases. Each storey is so high but we took the stairs to our room on the third floor because the stairs are so beautiful. Also the staff and breakfast were first class. In Summary one of our favourite hotels ever and not expensive for the standard of accomodation provided. Thank You - Colin & Karen

Nothing it was perfect.

Very comfortable room and beautiful interiors; felt like a very modern hotel compared to a lot of the older more simple accomodation available. Hotel staff were very helpful and we were able to park the car in a private car park. We got a hotel organised shuttle to take our luggage to the car park

The distance from the car park to the hotel is significant when you have large suitcases. The hotel does offer a shuttle to pick you up; I didn’t know about this when we first got there and we walked through some less attractive/unsafe areas to find the hotel. Was a bit hard to find hotel initially but once we were there it was great. If we’d caught the shuttle I am sure we wouldn’t have had this initial opinion.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel, a wonderfully tasteful renovation of a Genovese Palazzo. The foyer, lounge, staircases and terrace are all marvellous. As was our room, minimally decorated, but with wonderfully finished lime plastered walls, it was roomy with high ceilings and a lovely view out on the piazza below. Great bathroom, fantastic shower and the comfiest bed we have ever slept in. Fantastic staff also, five stars for everything!

I couldn’t fault anything about the property itself, but be aware Genoa old town is a bit shall we say “gritty”. It’s not without it’s charm, and lots of the shops and cafés are fantastic. However I would say that it may not be for everyone!

Excellent location close to old harbor and cathedral. Nice breakfast on rooftop terrace. Old building but functionally modernized. Very friendly staff who made good restaurant recommendations and was helpful in any way.

Some design flaws in having the AC unit under the front window. Since you needed to draw the heavy curtains to keep bright light from the plaza coming in at night, the air flow got restricted and the AC rendered only partly effective.

Cool modern hotel constructed inside a Renaissance palace in the historic centre, with access to one large salone from the original design. Breakfast room tucked into the attic but in good weather you can eat on the terrace, and come back 24-7 for snacks. Staff very helpful, printed documents I needed for work, prebooked a cab, moved our bags when we switched rooms. One floor of the palazzo is cut off from the hotel and used as an art gallery, but it's accessible some days and has interesting frescoes.

When we upgraded to a "junior suite" the room was a bit small and narrow, though we enjoyed extras like bathrobes. Because it is a rambling old building there are very few rooms with glorious views of the square. The great lounge (the historic salone) was sometimes booked for conferences so not 100% available for hotel residents.
