Our hosts, Chiara & Rocco, were gracious and warm, greeting us on arrival with beautiful smiles and taking time to provide detailed information for our stay in Matera. Chiara pointed out where we could park close by, for free. Our room was clean, bright, cozy, and beautiful. There was water in the refrigerator, shampoo/body gel in the shower, and plenty of towels and a pair of slippers for each of us. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The A/C unit worked great! Great water pressure in the bath and shower. The breakfast was incredible, consisting of local, fresh, and scrumptious fruits, salami, mozzarella di bufala, cornetto with pistachio, and cornetto with cream and blackberries, as well as Italian bread, focaccia, espresso, cappuccino, Americano, and cold water to cleanse our palates. The dining area was so homey, and the tables were set with care, love, and attention to detail. The location was outstanding, enabling us to walk anywhere we wanted to with ease. We can't say enough about La Pergola ai Sassi and enthusiastically recommend it. We fell in love with Matera and would definitely stay there again. It was a pleasure to meet such genuinely kind and caring hosts who truly took care of us!

Charming place with exceptionally friendly hosts. Chiara was responsive (we used a lot of Google translate Italian-English), helpful in booking a tour for us, gave us a little welcome tour of the are and restaurant recommentations. They prepared a lovely breakfast. The unit is close enough to the edge of the old town to enable parking not too far away. The room was very comfortable overall with nice bathroom/shower.

Could use a few more electrical/USB outlets in the bedroom and some extra pillows for sittting up in bed (minor things). Overall no complaints!

Location is amazing. Owners are even better. So helpful and treated us like one of their own! Loved them so much!

Beds and pillows are hard. We had a ant issue on the second night on the second floor where our children were sleeping but Chaira took care of it instantly and offered to have our children sleep in another room. Again a bit of a hiccup but fixed quickly!!

Owners really helpful. Two of our party were using crutches so they advised if a convenient drop off. They met us and help carried the bags to the hotel close by. Gave us access to our rooms around midday and greeted us with coffee and cold drinks. Nothing was too much of a problem. Great breakfast served early to accommodate our early departure time.

The hosts were very friendly and helpful but their English was as good as our Italian (not so great) The location was challenging and getting our luggage to the property was difficult due to the stairs but we did receive help from the hosts. We enjoyed the breakfast and the wine offered when we arrived.

Trying to locate the entrance on the first day..

It was the second time we stayed with our hosts Chiara and Rocco at this exceptional B&B in Matera. Everything was outstanding, the hospitality, kindness and care of our hosts, the quality of the room and the tasty, beautiful breakfast with local products. Hope to see you again! Thank you!

Great location for walking into the sassi. Comfortable rooms and very kind staff!

Breakfast is very carb-heavy - no eggs or yogurt and little fruit. Downside of great location is you’ll need to park a bit far.

One of the best experiences ever. The location is perfect, literally steps away from the Sassi but very close to the outside historic center so it is easy to park the car. Chiara and her husband are super nice, they gave us great info and tips. The breakfast is spectacular!

Excellent in every aspect. The hosts, the comfortable room, the generous breakfasts each morning, location and the ability to park nearby. Ticked all my boxes and more! Would highly, highly recommend La Pergola ai Sassi to anyone wanting to stay in Sassi di Matera.
