The host is kind and caring. Location is perfect to explore the center of Matera, plenty of free parking around the place, everything was clean. The breakfast is served at a specific time for each room.

If you want to sleep for a bit longer it is not possible due to weak soundproofing, you can hear every noise from the kitchen and other rooms. If you wake up at around 8am then it is fine, it is quiet till that time. Overall, good value for money

Nicola, the host, was very nice and accommodating. We coordinated our arrival on WhatsApp, he made us breakfast in the morning. The breakfast was sweet Italian breakfast but we were OK with that. The rooms are big and comfortable. The location is close enough to the city. Our communication was in Italian. We had a problem with our car and he was responsive on his phone in the evening too, recommending us taxis.

The accommodation was just a 10-minute walk from the city center. The room was a good size and clean, with all the necessary amenities. Nick, the host, was a very kind and friendly man. Every day, he prepared Italian breakfast with coffee and croissants for us and was always available on WhatsApp. I definitely recommend this place for a 2 to 3-night stay—just don’t forget that there is no Wi-Fi here.

The house is very well located, within walking distance of the old center. There is also plenty of free parking on the street nearby. The owner is also very friendly and sympathetic. He is very helpful. The house also has a kitchen. The owner comes by every day to make breakfast there.

Nicola was such a warm, welcoming gentleman and kindly tolerated my mediocre efforts to practise my poor Italian!!! He came every morning at 08:00 and made up a mokka pot of coffee for me; milk was provided but I preferred to enjoy a couple of caffe solos (when in Italy and all that!). Nicola set out local pastries from the bakery and there were also the wrapped shop bought type. There was ample choice of jams and chocolate spread and plain and flavoured yoghurts and cereals. Succhi di frutta (bottled fruit juices) also provided. A good brekky to start the day; to be honest, way too much for me alone but all so tasty. Nicola was also a great source of local knowledge to help me to see some highlights of the array of sights to visit in this fascinating city. 2 days was enough to cram in a lot but, as with so much of Italy, you could spend a year in a place and only scratch the surface of fascinating things to see and do. Free parking was a very short walk from the property, after being lucky enough to be able to park on the roadway outside to offload my bags beforehand. The room was large, quiet and comfortable with ample linen and storage space. At night with the shutters down it was nice and dark for sleeping and so quiet; very peaceful for a great sleep after a lot of walking around the stassi and the old city. Plenty choices of restaurants a short walk down the hill into the town to sample the wonderful regional cuisine. I drove the short 15 minute distance across the valley to view the stassi on the country park side opposite and was able to walk to the cliff edges to take amazing videos of the valley and Matera on the other side. 5000+ years of inhabited history...awesome!..and definitely no longer "the shame of Italy" of the 1950s. The room and bathroom were clean, and very well equipped with all that you need. In the mornings our lovely host delivered and served delicious, varied breakfast. Upon arrival, the host provided us with useful maps and explained how to get to the historical centre of Matera. Casa Cristallo is well located about 500 m from the centre of Matera. We were delighted, visiting this magic city. This is a real must-see place in Italy. We hope that someday we will return to Matera and Casa Cristallo!

Nothing to complain about!

Comfortable bed, but a little noisy. Older gentleman got us breakfast in the morning: yogurt, pastries, coffee. .. breakfast not before 8:30a.

Amazing place and hosts. Loved everything in my stay and will definitely stay again. Super clean, super efficient hosts, amazing breakfasts, and very centrally located (5minutes away on foot from the city center). Easy parking as well.
