This hotel was an amazing find- for value for money in Mennagio it is incredible. When I booked this, the nearest thing to it with the location and a view of the water was three times the price, and although it is basic so don’t expect luxury, it was pretty, full of character, did amazing food in the restaurant- and the most lovely lady running it that could not be more friendly and make you feel more welcome. It was a gem of a find that meant I was able to afford to spend 5 lovely nights in Mennagio

It’s an old fashioned building so can be a little noisy when people move around in the floor above, but not a big problem

This is one of the BEST local hotels / bnb I’ve ever stayed at. It has a warm cozy feeling, with being on top of a popular family-owned / authentic Italian restaurant, yet still having very spacious rooms. The staff was wonderful and even made room for me the two nights I ate downstairs - they get busy with reservations since it’s so good! They always greet you with kindness & care…as if you’re family! I had a wonderful room with a view facing the square / lake. The balcony was perfect. And the town of Menaggio in general, is by far one of the bests in my opinion. Has just the right amount of people / things to do for tourists, but NOT overcrowded like Bellagio. Everyone was also very warm & welcoming.

We stayed at that small family hotel for 4 night in early May. The position is superb, right at the center of Menaggio. Honestly, it is the best price/ quality balance for that town. The hostess is a nice and hospitable lady, who is ready to help. The room is a very basic one, yet neat and clean. The bed is comfy, the linen is pleasant and clean. Room cleaning is on everyday basis, no days-off. The gimmick of the room is the part-view from the balcony facing the lake and the embarkment. It was okay to sit there in the evening especially when the central life has faded out. Actually the hostess runs a small cozy restaurant downstairs.

The drawbacks certainly existed, not critical for us, yet someone might find them essential. The kettle was lacking in the room. We were aware of that and that was not a problem. The room was not soundproof at all. The wi-fi leaves much to be desired at times.

Like most people we decided to take a gamble as on booking.com the hotel has one star, however on trip advisor it has more. This hotel was GREAT value for money! Considering you’re staying in an expensive area, we were really impressed! The hotel is run by a lady who does all the hotel check ins etc and the restaurant. While her son cooks. She is incredibly friendly and welcoming! We were lucky enough to have a table booked in the hotels restaurant (as it was full booked every night) and the food was incredible! Lake Como has a common theme of being “expensive” however Menaggio and this hotel is definitely the place to stay if you’re trying to do this on a budget. We will 100% be returning!

Absolutely loved my stay at Albergo Vapore and the hosts' hospitality! The price/value ratio is unbeatable. The location is perfect right at the lake and the main square. The hotel is operated by a wonderful lady and her son who made me feel incredibly welcome. The hotel also has a delicious restaurant with authentic home-cooked meals. There rooms are comfortable and cleaned daily. There is a lovely cafe/bakery right next to the hotel. Menaggio as such is a great base and allows you to visit Belaggio and Varenna within a day, while still being relatively low-key and less touristic. My stay was absolutely wonderful and I will be back! :)

Albergo Il Vapore is located on a quiet square just back from the lakeside. The room was light and simply furnished with a view of the lake from the french windows - we loved just sitting and looking at the view. The bed was extremely comfortable and the restaurant downstairs was good - be sure to book in advance. Breakfast at the bakery/cafe next door was great - the pistachio croissants were amazing. Although the hotel is fairly basic the location and value for money are excellent and we would definitely return.

The bathroom is tiny and quite basic with handwash provided but no other toiletries.

We loved our stay at Albergo Il Vapore!!! The location was incredible, the two ladies running the hotel and restaurant were so lovely and the room was great - comfy bed, amazing view of the lake with a small balcony, good bathroom and shower, and although it was a bit hot to sleep at night, we knew there was no aircon when we booked and greatly appreciated the tall fan that was provided in the room. We also had two fantastic meals at the restaurant downstairs, and even when they were fully booked they made room for us as hotel guests - delicious pasta and aperol spritz, and some of the best prices in Menaggio! We would stay again in a heartbeat.

The room was a bit hot to sleep well at night, but it was nothing a cold shower and the tall fan couldn’t fix!

Best value in como. If you want a place with a lovely view, incredible location and lovely staff this is the spot. My partner and I both agreed that we were not going to be hanging out in the room very much so were looking for something functional that was close to the ferry (5min walk). Comfy bed and fresh towels each morning was great. My partners highlight was getting a cappuccino from the owner and having it on the balcony while reading her book in the morning. Didn’t get a moment to have a meal in the restaurant downstairs (everyone says it’s great). There were good restaurants around the area and lovely views. If we come back to como this is where we will stay!

We liked everything about our stay. Perfect location, rooms are simple but very clean, wonderful view facing the lake. The charm of this family run hotel is the owner- Signora Pinuccia very sweet, lovely and welcoming lady. She also has the restaurant downstairs where her son Simone cooks amazing food and we had nice evenings there. Overall Great value. Yes, it is not a 5 star hotel, but it has italian soul and charm, smiley faces, sweet and kind people - that's all we needed. Grazie mille signora Pinucia and Simone! With love from Georgia <3

We loved the location of the accommodation, from our balcony you could see the lake and you were in the middle of a little square so you could take in everything that was going on. Very authentic Italian place which we loved. The lady that runs the place was very hospitable, caring and she couldn’t do enough for us even lending us an umbrella for our day trip out. She also ran the restaurant downstairs which her son is one of the chefs, the food here was amazing and great value for money compared to some of the other places we ate at. The restaurant is quite cosy and is like being in your own lounge with other people which we didn’t mind at all, you could still have a private conversation or you could eat outside. Loved the fact that you could also bring your dog which just made us feel like it was a home from home, never heard dogs wailing or barking just nice that they allowed people to do that. Our room was lovely and clean quite basic but we didn’t mind this at all for the money. Would highly recommend and would Definately visit again :)

Nothing really the only small thing was that the floor was quite noisy so every time you walked around you made a creak on the floor and vice versa for the other rooms.
