We recently had the pleasure of staying at Olivedo Hotel in Varenna, and it was an unforgettable experience. The location is simply unbeatable—right opposite the ferry terminal, making it incredibly convenient to explore Lake Como and its surrounding towns. Waking up to the view of the lake each morning was a delight. The breakfast at Olivedo Hotel was another highlight. It was absolutely awesome, with a wide variety of delicious options that catered to all tastes. Whether you’re a fan of a hearty meal or prefer something lighter, the spread was more than satisfying. The staff at the hotel were also very pleasant. They were always ready to assist with a smile and made sure that every aspect of our stay was comfortable. Their local recommendations, especially for nearby restaurants, were spot on. Speaking of restaurants, the hotel’s proximity to fabulous dining options was a huge plus. We were just a short walk away from some of the best eateries in Varenna, making dinner plans effortless. Overall, Olivedo Hotel is a fantastic choice for anyone visiting Lake Como. Its prime location, delightful breakfast, friendly staff, and closeness to top-notch restaurants make it a standout option. I highly recommend it!

The location, across the street from the ferry, was great for people watching. Also, a short easy walk from the train station. The room was very large and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and well staffed. Check in and out was smooth and quick. We also had an excellent meal in the hotel’s restaurant next door.

Excellent hotel and staff. Full of character. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. The balcony view of Lake Como was simply stunning. Fantastic breakfast with hot and cold options. Great location for ferry, train station and lake views. Fantastic a la carte restaurant next door.

The only negative is that our room had no curtains to block out the light at night-time. Could be a big issue for light sleepers. Being so close to the ferry terminal, it does get busy with people and vehicles getting on the ferries. We did not mind this but others may prefer a quieter location.

The most charming and well located hotel we’ve stayed in!!! Absolutely loved every moment in this old style Italian hotel on the majestic Lake Como!! We had a balcony and gorgeous views!! The breakfast was superb - lots to chose from - including various eggs/bacon upon request. Delicious homemade lemon cake and fresh croissants!! Yummy fruit as well as cold meats/cheeses and cereals. All sorts of coffees and juice available as well! Very charming and kind staff. We arrived tired after a long day of travel and were delighted to be presented with a cold beer!! (then they booked us into a neighbouring restaurant as we’d arrived quite late! So kind & helpful)! A wonderful welcome to Italy!!! Had been dreaming of staying in this gorgeous hotel and it definitely delivered!! Loved looking out over the lake and also was so easy to arrive via train and then catch the ferry to various towns on the lake!! Highly recommended!!!

The location was exceptional, we got off the ferry and there it was! Our room had views straight out across Lake Como and to the snow capped mountains! We were easily able to take the ferry to Bellagio and Mennagio for day trips and the train to/from Milan is only a couple of hundred metres away! The hotel has been in the same family for generations and they have maintained it beautifully giving it a very quaint homely feel. It is extremely clean and the staff are very friendly and attentive. Breakfast was great with bacon/eggs etc cooked fresh to your liking. Thoroughly recommend staying at Olivedo Hotel!

Lake como is magical and this hotel from late 1800’s is magical too, wooden floors and antique furnishings makes you feel like you have gone back in time in a good way! The staff and breakfast was wonderful. The location was good, easy walking distance to the train and the ferry is right there! Varenna town is a very short walk along a gorgeous pathway around the lake.we had three rooms one attic room, and two superior rooms, the superior room has Juliette balconies which was wonderful for lake views and people watching. The attic room my (20 yo) son also had a view but the window is very low, he laid a pillow on the floor and enjoyed it very much. We would totally stay here again, we came late March and Varenna was amazing.

The staff was welcoming including a welcome gift and room was spacious with a great view. The breakfast was excellent as well.

The lovely lady who checked us in was superb. Super friendly and accommodating, allowing us to check in early as our room was ready. Staff also happy to store bags too. Charming old style building in a stunning town, full of cafes and restaurants within walking distance. Ideal location not far from the train station and directly in front of the ferry terminal to visit other towns on lake Como. We had a nice attic room with views of the lake. Nice continental breakfast but you can also get eggs cooked to order. Overall, very happy with our stay and would definitely stay again. Thank you :)

We stayed in the Annex, which is in another building but very close to the hotel. Room was very spacious, clean and had more all less all we wanted. View was towards the lake, even though the ferry station that's just across the street is not the best setting :) However, it was very easy and convenient to hop on a boat and go visit other places around the lake. Breakfast was decent but nothing special.

Very cold in the room with no possibility to increase the temperature. For the extremely high price of over €300/ night, we expected to have at least a decent coffee pod in the room.
