Thank you so much to Rita & the staff - they truly made this place feel like home for my family and 15 month-old baby. Every morning we were greeted with fresh cappuccinos, homemade croissants & other breakfast goodies. They had a spot set up for my son every morning to eat, and graciously cleaned up our bibs, plates, etc. that we brought every time. Rita also helped with logistics and giving us recommendations on what to do. The actual apartment was very nice & had everything we wanted! The view is outstanding & it's on the route of the Wayfarers path. Note: This hotel is above the Varenna city in a town called Perledo. To get up here, it's a 15 minute walk (at a brisk pace) and 500 feet of elevation gain. It's essentially at the top of the hike to the castle. We are in good shape so we thought it would be no big deal, but found we really only had the energy to do this once or maybe twice per day. The night bus was easy to catch but only leaves once it's full, so it wasn't as good of a solution as I thought it would be. I thought the restaurant on property was just ok. My husband liked it & others staying on property did as well. The restaurant staff was sweet as can be. There is literally nothing else around in Perledo except for this amazing restaurant that's new called La Serra Bistrot ($$$) in walking distance.

We very much enjoyed our stay here. From the very first moment we arrived at the train station, Rita (the owner) was there to pick us up and take us up the hill to the hotel, ensuring we didn't have to struggle up the hill with our bags. Once we arrived, Rita was very helpful in explaining how everything worked, things we needed to know and even arranged a taxi for us for after we checked out. The room was very spacious and had everything you'd need in it. With the amount of space available, it would have been nice to have a small table with a couple of chairs or something, but not the end of the world - there was just a lot of extra space. The hotel was not too far away from Varenna village and the lake. From the hotel, it is a 10 minute walk down a very steep hill. Going down was fine, just a little tough on the knees. Going back up the hill afterwards was much harder though. I'd recommend thinking twice about this if mobility is an issue. There is an option to catch a free mini bus back up the hill (from the train station) in the evenings though. This mini bus was easy to understand and was reliable for the couple of times we used it. The hotel is located in a small village up in the mountains called Vezio. This is a very nice little place which is very quiet, and we did not hear any noises or have any disturbances while we were staying here. Just be aware there is also not much to do up here other than visit the castle and the restaurant which is basically next to the hotel. Breakfast was pretty good considering it was included in the price. It was mostly continental with a couple of cooked extras. It was enough for us and certainly fuelled us for our travels. The hotel is also home to Rita's dog, Pippo. He is a good boy and very friendly to all guests. Rita made herself available via whatsapp for anything we needed during our stay, and other staff members were great too.

Walls of the rooms were very thin, so you could hear conversations, toilets flushing etc. in the neighbouring rooms. This didn't take too much away from our experience, and appreciate the rooms were still great value for money, but maybe bring some ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.

Rita and her team are very kind, gracious and communicated quickly and efficiently over Whatsapp. She offers pick-up at the train station when you arrive before 7pm. There is a free night bus which also leaves from the Varenna train station after 7pm each night which services the hotel as well. The breakfast was incredible. The room was spacious.

The path to Varenna can be difficult on your knees, particularly going down. My husband and I are fit and in our 30's and found the walk down more difficult than the walk up. I would not recommend this accommodation without a vehicle if you suffer from mobility issues.

Very attentive and personal service from Rita and her staff, which made us feel so welcome during our stay. Lovely clean and well appointed room in the courtyard with plenty of loungers, jacuzzi and pool. Really nice continental breakfast provided every day with a lovely selection of items, with the added bonus of gorgeous scrambled eggs. Rita also arranged transport from and to the railway station for us and be aware of the great addition of a free bus from Varenna train station every night from 1900 to 0000hrs (every 20mins)....saves a walk up the hill at night! Massive thanks to Rita for making our stay so special. We`ll be back!

Rita and co really do as much as they can for you during your stay. The location was incredible, the breakfast was great and the hotel dog really made the place a home away from home. The room we stayed in had everything we needed, including a fridge, iron, kettle and a bottle of wine! 😁 The walk down to Varenna is manageable, with lots of little breaks for the knees, but the walk up could be challenging for some. A car was arranged free of charge for our collection from the train station, and there is a shuttle bus that's also free that ran after 7PM. As and when we return to the lake, we shall be rebooking here.

It would be nice if there was milk in the room, to go along with the English breakfast tea. Perhaps a loaf of bread for breakfast could be included.

This stay is owned by a family and you can tell because they make you feel apart of theirs. I couldn’t fault this stay. It was my favourite by far. Friendly staff, clean rooms, free breakfast with a beautiful view (the Croissant’s are amazing), Great location town is just a 10 min walk down a hill and they have a bus shuttle that runs after 7pm to get a lift back up so it’s perfect. We also had dinner at their restaurant there and that was a great option if you don’t want to go into town and stay local. We loved staying in the guesthouse by the pool having some spritz and patting their dog pipo! (Who is the goodest boy) Thanks again for an amazing stay!

Excellent hotel up in the hills of Varenna, very peaceful and I can imagine it's an Ideal location in the busy months away from the main town. Rita was the perfect hostess, very pleasant and helpful, breakfast was fantastic and the room was perfect and a great size, would highly recommend. My friend and I only stayed one night so feel that we couldn't appreciate it as much as we would have liked! It's a steep climb up cobbles to the top but we enjoy a challenge! Just be careful as very slippery in the wet! Rita kindly offered for us to be picked up from the station or you can get a taxi 😊 Also a short walk up to the castle which is well worth a visit for the history and stunning views

The staff at this property were lovely, from picking us up at the train station to booking our return taxi. The rooms were spacious, opposite the pool, with good aircon and great extras like a fridge, washing machine and clothes airer. The pool was heaven to come back to after a hard day’s sightseeing in the baking heat and the jacuzzi was very relaxing. Breakfast was fresh pastries, meats, cheeses, cereals etc and was great to set you up for the day. It’s a bit of a steep hill into town which takes around 15/20 mins and you’ll need good footwear for that. There is a free night bus available from the train station from 9.30pm to 11.30pm to get you back up the hill. All in all we loved our stay here and would like to thank Rita, Kirsty and the team for looking after us.

A wonderful place to stay when visiting Varenna. The room was excellent—spacious, clean, and equipped with a washing machine, which is especially convenient for long trips like us when you need to do some laundry. The breakfast was good, and the lady at reception was very kind and helpful. I particularly enjoyed the trail walk down the hill to Varenna town, where I discovered an amazing restaurant. Walking back up trail to the hotel after dinner was an unforgettable experience

I found it convenient since we traveled by car. However, if you have a lot of big luggage, it might be a bit inconvenient. To reach the hotel, you need to walk a little, which we actually enjoyed as it was great exercise for us. 😊

We loved the location - spectacular views, it really does pay to be higher up on the hillside. It also meant we were away from the hustle and bustle of the town so it felt very peaceful. We were also perfectly located to follow the trail through the beautiful hills to Bellano. Breakfast was continental but great. We really loved the staff too - everyone was so friendly and went out of their way to help us. Rita, Roxanne and Kirsty, thank you all, you made our trip! Taxi pick up from the train station when we arrived was much appreciated. Oh and we loved the jacuzzi!
