Location is away from the crowd in quiet town south of Bellagio. Town has its own ferry station - with limited schedule. There’s only 1 restaurant and a sandwich shop in the town, so you need to plan ahead a little. Also, be aware restaurant needs reservations and was closed certain days - so plan accordingly. Bellagio is 10-15 minute up and down hill walk away along busy main road, which can be a little scary. Very quiet. Excellent room, spacious bathroom, and very clean. Self check in was very convenient! Excellent host, very helpful. Abundant breakfast with many options.

Both Laura and Giovanna were so hospitable! I really liked and enjoyed our balcony which had a very decent lake view. ( not all rooms have a balcony but I specifically booked a room with one and was very happy I did so). I also really liked being close to a ferry dock, San Giovanni. It did not have as many options as the main one in Bellagio but much less crazy busy with such short lines.

It was a little further walk to Bellagio proper than I had anticipated but once you did it the first time it wasn’t bad at all. We were fortunate and had very nice weather.

It is a nice stay for 1-2 nights if you are passing by and visiting Como Lake. The breakfast was tasty with high quality ingredients and it was enough for everyone. The host was very friendly and helped us with a lot of tips and information.

It is far from Bellagio city center, there is only one bus that comes every hour, and the only alternative is to walk for 30 minutes. There are no stores nearby and only 2 restaurants to choose from. It’s better to reach from Varenna (15 mins by ferry and then bus) rather than from Como (the bus comes once an hour, is full so you may not even catch it and takes about 90 mins)

We stayed in Locanda della Maria for 2 nights while exploring Bellagio. Upon arrival we were a bit confused by the ferry situation (we assumed we would get dropped at the san Giovanni port but that is not the case) so we walked from Bellagio port to san Giovanni with our bags (would not recommend this- it was super hot and a couple hills along the way) without bags this is a beautiful walk into the town but taxis are hard to come by In Bellagio so please make sure you understand the busses in Bellagio to avoid the mistake we made! The bus drops you at san Giovanni bus stop which is a 5 minute walk to the hotel. Despite this we thought the property was in a perfect location, very quiet and beautiful. Our room had an amazing view and the bnb was a short 5 minute walk to the beautiful san Giovanni secret beach, we spent a lot of our time here. The icing on top of the cake was the breakfast, we were offered a beautiful fruit tart, crossiants, fresh fruit, juices, coffee and a lot more, it was the perfect way to start our day and we will remember it for many years to come! We loved our stay here and would highly recommend it.

This place is beautiful, with the kind and attentive staff. Our room were very clean, comfortable and well equipped. The breakfast was awesome. The view from the balcony is belissimo. Location: very close to the beach, to the ferryboat stop and it's okay distance from the north part to the island. The arrival were very flexible and practical. We will remember our experience for a lifetime. Thank you for having us!

Locanda della Maria offers very comfortable and spacious accommodations with an excellent breakfast buffet that is as ample as it is good. A hint for first-time visitors - if you take a ferry to Bellagio, be aware that there is a local ferry that stops at San Giovanni, which is very close to the locanda. Otherwise, you have to take a taxi as it is a long walk from the main Bellagio ferry terminal. The local ferry has a limited schedule, so visitors have to plan around it.

There is only one restaurant nearby. It's excellent but serves a fixed menu that doesn't change every day.

It's close enough to walk to the bustle of Bellagio. But still pretty quaint, quiet and authentic. The hotel is down a cul de sac road and is therefore very quiet. I really liked this. Part of the walk to Bellagio goes along the busy road which can be a bit scary at times. The hotel is in an old property in the village and is has retained a lot of it's charm. Be aware that the rooms are up several steep stairs. ( it wasn't a problem for me but it could be for the elderly or infirm).

Rooms are a bit small but that's accommodation in old houses for you- to be expected.

The location is perfect for a stay in Bellagio in a quiet and convenient place. There is a ferry at the end of the street with a few stops if you want to avoid a 20 minute walk into Bellagio centro. The room is comfortable with a nice bathroom. The breakfast was plentiful with sweet and savory choices, eggs, yogurt, meat. Giovanna and Laura were very helpful. I would recommend.

Everything was very nice.

There's a convenient self-check in option with nicely written instructions for the rooms location and all. The room was clean, spacious with big bathroom. The air-conditioning was smart - wouldn't turn on unless windows are closed. The breakfast was great with a lot of options including Italian classics like croissant,Nutella, prosciutto and more. The lady at the front desk was very polite. There's a convenient touristic small street "train" that stops right near the property and takes you to Bellagio. Also, the walk through the Villa Melzi gardens is great option for reaching Bellagio center.
