We absolutely loved our stay at Il Belvedere in Torno — it was pure magic from start to finish. The beauty of the hotel and the little harbour of Torno took our breath away. We were a group of friends visiting Lake Como for the first time, and we couldn’t have landed in a better place. The location of Torno is one of the most beautiful spots on the lake — nestled in a narrower passage that still offers breathtaking, wide-ranging views of both the water and the surrounding mountains. It feels peaceful and authentic, yet close to everything. The hotel is family-owned, as is the neighbouring one, and that personal touch shines through in everything. Everyone we met — from the owners themselves to their close-knit team — was warm, welcoming, and genuinely cared about making our stay special. They went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, arranging everything from a fantastic wine tasting to great local recommendations for hikes and activities. The hotel feels brand new — elegant, fresh, and perfectly maintained. Our room had a lovely terrace with stunning views over the lake, and it was spacious and beautifully designed. On our first day, we did the classic Lake Como boat trip to Bellagio, and on the second we hiked directly from the hotel on a wonderful two-hour loop around Torno, finishing with a delicious lunch by the harbour. It was everything we hoped for and more. We left with full hearts and unforgettable memories. A huge thank you to the family who runs Il Belvedere — you truly made our weekend something special. We can’t wait to come back!

To be honest I have nothing to complain about only happy memories were made here.

On a long trip thru Italy and Switzerland, Il Belvedere stood out as the gem. It was our favorite hotel by far. Everthything was beyond our expectations, from our charming and very clean room, to the luxurious bathroom, two (!) balconies with breathtaking views of Lake Como. The restaurant here was also our favorite on our trip. Delicious and local food served in a beautiful but unpretentious way. We were also grateful to be in Torno rather than Bellagio; it was a much less touristy town. We will dream of coming back again!

This is a beautiful hotel with fabulous rooms, in a wonderful location on the lakeside, it is so well run with lovely staff who are all so friendly and helpful, the restaurant serves excellent food and across the way is a ‘sister’ restaurant which is owned by the same family and is also excellent, it is right next to a regular ferry service to Como and many other locations around the lake. Torno is very quiet and maybe a little isolated but the ferries and also the buses, which can be extremely full, mean you can get around the area easily.

Nice hotel with good breakfast. Friendly staff and very helpful. Conveniently located next to the ferry stop. It’s a very small village compared to other villages along the road.

Village is very small with just a convenient store and a couple of restaurants. To get to other choices you have to drive or take ferry. If you get around with the ferry, pay attention to schedule. You can easily get stuck north of the ferry stop and have to take the bus or very long way train and bus and ferry back.

- the room was very spacious and spotlessly clean - the view from the room cannot be better - it was just perfect - location cannot be better - the ferry stops literally in front of the hotel. And the village itself feels so authentic! - staff was very polite and competent - the restaurant of the hotel was absolute top notch

If you enjoy sleep-ins the noise of the boats / ferries may wake you up. They start from 8-ish in the morning and don't operate at night so no issues even for light sleepers like me.

The location of this property is right on the water, which was my one of my reasons for booking our stay here. The view from our suite was just breathtaking! The property also offered breakfast and there was a restaurant onsite that was very lovely with a beautiful open view of the lake. The people on staff were very helpful and accommodating.

I opted to book the Deluxe King Suite with a terrace, and while the view and size of the room didn’t disappoint, unfortunately the size of the bed did. The bed is advertised on Booking.com as a king sized bed but it is in fact a full sized bed. There was just barely enough room for two people to sleep comfortably. I addressed this issue upon check-out and was told the difference in sizing was due to the fact that European beds are a bit smaller than American beds. However, I think this should be corrected on Booking.com as it is misleading.

Everything about our stay was wonderful. The room was great and we had a view and a terrace that looked out to the Piazza. The staff were beyond wonderful and kind and helpful - from the front desk people to the restaurant people to the person who cleaned our room every day. They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. The town is lovely. We took a short boat tour on the lake with a wonderful guide. I'm so glad we stayed there and hope that we will be back.

We had an unusual situation where we were travelling for awhile before we arrived and needed to do some laundry. We did it in the room and dried it on the towel warmer but we should have asked about using a clothes dryer or laundry service. This was nothing against the hotel - we just never asked about it. We still got it all done! Thank goodness for the towel warmer!

Il Belvedere is located in small town called Torno on the shores of the Lago di Como. Location of the hotel is right on the shore and you have a look on the small marina with boats. Room had a lake view on the forementioned marina. Staff is exceptional: a) we were a bit late after the check-in time because of a crash on Milano highway but there were no problems, they even helped us with carrying luggage from the car to the hotel because parking lot is hundred meters from the entrance to the hotel, b) we were able to reserve a late dinner, c) on the short notice they helped us with printing tickets for Fiera Milano. Great service all together. Restaurant is cozy, dinner meals were delightful and wine was good. I would recommend it if you want to be away from the bigger cities like Milano or Como, right at the lake, with great view on the lake and surrounding mountains.

Everyone in the staff was exceptionally friendly and hospitable. From the minute I stepped inside, the lovely ladies at reception were expecting me and prepared for all the ‘wish list’ I had messaged them about prior to arrival. The dinners at the restaurant were exceptional- delicious, friendly staff and incredible views of the lake. During the day when you want to explore around the lake, the hotel is located in front of the ferry stop. And if you want anything outside the menu of the hotel, the cafe nearby has everything. Do not hesitate to book here, I will definitely be back again

The breakfast menu and coffee machine was not my taste, but thats my personal take. I enjoyed breakfast in the cafe next door instead.

The best service I’ve received in a hotel anywhere. The staff were friendly, attentive and genuinely appear to enjoy helping every guest have the best experience. The bedroom and bathroom were spacious, there was an elevator for bags, 2 restaurants, a great pizza place (hole in the wall) and a bar + ferry nearby. The continental breakfast in the morning every day was great and I recommend the veal Milanese + Ben Rye dessert wine for dinner. Top tip - make sure to call the hotel in advance with your exact arrival time to get a small jeep to pick you up as it’s difficult to access the hotel down a steep hill).
