I stayed at L'Essenza Hotel on the first and last nights of my August holiday in Sardinia. I chose the hotel because it was very convenient by public transport for Olbia airport (There is a bus which costs less then two euros and which drops you a short walk from the hotel). It was also only a short (8 minute) walk to the train station for my onward travel to Alghero. The hotel is located 1 minute's walk from the main street of Olbia where you will find lots of restaurants and shops and which is picturesque and perfect for your evening stroll. Despite this, the hotel is very quiet and not on a busy thoroughfare. The stand-out feature of L'Essenza Hotel has to be the staff. Without exception, I was greeted with a friendly smile and nothing was too much trouble. The staff in the breakfast room would welcome me warmly and offer coffee and eggs made to order. Breakfast was plentiful and varied with a selection of pastries, toast, fruit, yoghurt, cereal, cheese and cold meats. The breakfast room was bright and spacious with a lovely view from the terrace if you chose to eat out there. The staff on the reception desk helped me with understanding public transport options and also allowed me to freeze my cool-blocks in their freezer overnight, which was a godsend as it was 33 degrees in Sardinia during my stay. The air-conditioning in the room worked very well, the bathroom was spacious and well-equipped and my bed was comfortable and afforded a great sleep on both nights. The staff remembered that I had liked the room at the start of my holiday and allocated it to me again when I returned. Lots of lovely people in a lovely hotel.

There was nothing which I thought could be improved.

I have no words to say how amazing the folks are with us. All of them, no exceptions! We really appreciate their kindness, from the moment you get there till the moment we left. They provide us more than support, suggestions, but they were so supportive, so lovely. No words to say thanks and if we come back there, we will stay there for sure. To make it clearer: the breakfast is wonderful - I wanted to ask but I missed it: where is the croissant coming from?! Gosh! I wanted to eat 3, 4 each day. Federica - if one day I open an hotel in Brazil, you will be my manager. Please learn Portuguese! Hehe… I have not asked for her name but I am referring to the lady (I guess she is the owner). I will never forget that omelette - so good! Thanks a lot for your kindly hosting.

Gabrielle at reception was equally wonderful, always ready to assist with a friendly smile and great recommendations that enhanced my experience in Olbia. The hotel itself is a gem—beautifully designed, comfortable, and offering a stunning view of the Gulf. Breakfast was a delightful start to each day, with a fantastic selection of continental, Italian, and vegetarian options, The staff is exceptional, with a special shout-out to Estefania, whose warm smile makes every morning even brighter. Every aspect of my stay was carefully thought out, ensuring a perfect balance of relaxation and exploration. I highly recommend L'Essenza Hotel to anyone visiting Olbia. Maria and Gabrielle truly elevate the experience, making it more than just a stay—it's a memorable, heart-warming getaway.

The staff were delightful, from the morning breakfast team to reception and cleaning, everyone was so friendly and welcoming. They were kind enough to arrange a late check out for me too. The location of this hotel is close to everything in Olbia city. Breakfast in the morning was delicious too! Would recommend.

The room is small but manageable. I did not have the best room location wise. I was close to the lift so heard people coming in and out from the lift or stairs. The door to my room also felt like it needed to be resealed as I was able to see the hallway light which came in throughout the night, they did have a timer on the light in the hallway but with people coming and going it was coming on and off all night combined with the sounds of people. This all said it wasnt a super loud/busy hotel so this was minimal in my eyes but worth mentioning, if id have stayed longer I probably would have requested a room change the next night.

Comfortable, modern, clean, light and airport hotel with a lift. Very attentive staff . Receptionist were both first class. Nothing was ever too much for them. Very good selection of food for breakfast. Hotel located in a quiet street with hardly any traffic. Nice terrace and views. Nice to have a mini fridge in the room. Nice and big wardrobe. Big bathroom with modern equiqmeny it has been recently refurbished. Overall, attentive and friendly staff. Recommended.

There should be a kettle, with tea and coffee making facilities all the rooms, irrespective of the price of the room .

The hotel was modern and clean. Everything I requested for my room was provided. It was close to the ferry port, bus stops and train stations and to many shops and restaurants. The staff were friendly, efficient and helpful and sent a taxi when I requested (I arrived later than expected and could not find one). They also advised me what to see and do when the tour I had booked was cancelled. There were many choices for breakfast and the staff there were also friendly, efficient and helpful. As a dog lover the gorgeous dog, who was sometimes in reception, was a bonus.

Everything. Highly recommend this hotel and I’ll definitely book again should I come back to Olbia. Location was walking distance to so many restaurants, shops, bars cafes etc.. the room was modern, clean and perfectly sized. Breakfast spread was amazing and the view from level 5 was incredible. The staff are so lovely and accommodating to anything we asked for, we really enjoyed our stay. Thank you!

Nothing but only minor maintenance like toilet seat off balance, towel rail a little loose from wall and hand basin sink plug had to be removed to drain fully. But all easy 2 min handy man fixes.

The hotel is very central, located in a nice quiet street, and has a beautiful view from the terrace where breakfast is served. I usually don’t eat sweets in the morning, but they offered me a delicious peach cake and I did not regret. The cream croissants are delicious too!!! The presence of the owners make it a very homely place, almost as if I was staying with family and not in a hotel. I loved it and definitely recommend to anyone visiting Olbia.

Great location, comfortable bed. Great staff at breakfast and reception. Who were very friendly and attentive. Very Helpful for places to visit including buses and trains. Tips - take a 4 way plug extension lead if charging multiple devices. Also for hair dryer and straighteners. The hotel plug sockets do not all fit a standard euro adapter. They provide one number 3 pin adapter which you plug in to, so you might get stuck if you need to use multiple items. Also take mosquito plug in and repellent. Take a few clothes hangers

Not a deal breaker, but our room really would benefit from a floor standing shelf or drawer unit with a lamp and mirror above. Just for smalls storage and a place for drying hair and doing make up etc. possibly move the mirror above the bed headboard for this.

Front desk and breakfast staff were GREAT! -Guy at the front was really helpful recommending us beaches, letting us park the car 10 minutes so we could take our luggage out, and helping us with everything we asked for. -Staff at breakfast was very attentive. The moment we step in the room, they came up to us and asked if we wanted coffee, scramble eggs, etc.. Food was good as well.

-Cleaning staff was very annoying. Women were very loud closing doors and talking to each other (very loud). It was around 8:30 (very early for vacations)
