I liked that it was an all female dorm, especially as a female traveller. The beds were also good despite having less privacy than other hostels. The cupboards in the room were good too, as were the shelves next to the bed.

The lack of privacy was not ideal but did not create much concern.

I've stayed here before and knew if I ever came to Rome I would want to stay here again. And if I'm fortunate to come back to Rome, I'll want to stay here for a third time! A lovely comfortable room of a good size. The bed was extremely comfortable and it was nice to know there was access to the kitchenette although I didn't need to use it. The rooftop terrace had a lovely vibe. It was close to the station (Termini) which is fab for accessing all the major tourist sites, and there are loads of great restaurants within a five minute walking distance. The staff were all lovely and friendly, and it was really helpful that their English was so good, considering how awful my Italian is.

My only issue was the towel on the floor out of the shower which other guests (shared bathroom) seemed to think was OK to step on in dirty shoes. It was right by the toilet as well. I dont think this is the fault of the hotel, but it would be nice if other guests could drape it over the shower rail after use so it doesn't get dirty so quickly. Or perhaps the hotel could offer a shower mat to each room?

It was kept so very clean, this i love! Great central location, there are bus stops all around thank the guy who invented google maps! Helped me to find bus stops and guide me to all my excursions. Resteraunts and bars are all in short walking distance. The staff are very helpful and speak very good english. The whole place is very quiet and the other guests are so respectful. There is a lovely terrace upstairs on the roof where you can relax and catch some sun or eat your breakfast/lunch/dinner. There is a small kitchen for the guests to use wiyh a microwave and kettle and a fridge freezer, there are labels supplied on the kitchen counter so you can label your own food, so helpful! I really loved it. I will certainly come to visit again sometime.

There wasn't anything i didnt like.

I like that the beds were not bunkbeds and it was spacious enough. The property was clean and there were lots of showers and toilet… And they were segregated from males so that the rooms and all the bathrooms were just females which made it comfortable.

The only thing I did not like is that in the bathroom adjacent to room 203, when you lock the bathroom, on the outside, it is green, so that is signifies that it is free… So every time I was in there, there were always people trying to get in… Should be fixed

The hotel is near the main Termini train station so it was very convenient to walk to and from the station. We experienced the "strike" of the transport employees (rail, subway, tram, bus) and had to do changes to train schedules already booked. Since Hotel des Artiste was near it, it was convenient for us to go and request for changes. The hotel was also very clean and the rooms were spacious. We had a double room with shared bathrooms. This did not hinder us in any way because we had a sink in the room to speed up dressing up time. I also like the common area where we could store and heat up our bought food. This was convenient for early appointments/tour bookings The buffet breakfast in the hotel was a very good deal...which we had on our first morning at the hotel. Great spread and variety for the breakfast.

Overall, the whole experience was really amazing for what we paid. The facilities were particularly good. The beds were comfortable and the room was large enough for four people with decently large luggage, as well as plenty of outlets, enough for each of us and more, and the sink and mirror in the room was very handy. The staff and other guests kept the bathrooms clean and tidy and there always seemed to be either a bathroom or at least single toilet free so the floor never felt too crowded or busy. I especially loved the rooftop terrace - heaps of seating and plants and nice to get some fresh air and sun. The kitchen was pretty basic but it was really good to have a fridge to store breakfast so we didn’t have to go out in the morning. Also location was really good with the station less than 10 minutes walk away and heaps of food options close by.

It would have been nice to get at least two key cards as we were a party of three and often coming and going separately, even if it was just to the bathroom we would have to knock to come back into the room as the key is needed for power. One of the bathrooms on our floor also had minimal hanging space/benches to place clothing, towels etc. but we still managed without so these are both very minor concerns.

The staff is really nice and professional. The cleaning, especially on the 5th floor, where I stayed for 3 weeks, was great! Enter in the room and see everything tidy and clean. It was always refreshing after a day of work or tourism. Some people don't know how to share bathrooms, but the cleaning team also makes a very good job every day. The calm atmosphere, the terrace, and the kitchen (even though there was only a microwave to cook), offered a clean and organized space for people to put their food in the refrigerator. I couldn't be happier for switching 2 bookings for 3 weeks in the Des Artistes. Furthermore, the hotel is close to the Termini and metro stations, and for people like myself who enjoy walking, it's not far from many nice tourist attractions.

I stayed here in August 2025 as a solo traveller in a 4 bedroom dorm PROS: The room is very clean and the beds are made every day. 8 mins walk to Rome Termini Station. Bathroom facilities are clean and spacious. Staff are friendly and helpful. 20-30min walk to the main attractions. As a solo traveller it can be a good way to meet other travellers The rooms were much better than the photos. Breakfast for $8 euros which includes pastry’s, cakes, eggs, cereals and coffee. Prices are very reasonable and it’s a great value for money.

Cons: The location is a bit in the “ghetto” area of Rome. At night be sure to be cautious as a woman. There was a man near the hotel touching himself on the street. Bathrooms are not inside the room, but this is typical of a dorm room. Room could use a full length mirror.

I recently stayed at this accommodation and overall had a very pleasant experience. The environment was welcoming and the location is excellent – just a short walk from Termini station, making it very convenient for travel. Most of the major historical sites in Rome are within walking distance (about an hour or less), which made exploring the city really enjoyable. One of the highlights was definitely the rooftop terrace on the 6th floor – a great spot to relax after a day of sightseeing.

The only downside was the behavior of some fellow guests. On two consecutive nights, there was loud activity between 1:00 and 3:00 a.m., including packing and turning on lights for over an hour, which disturbed the peace. Of course, this isn’t the fault of the accommodation itself but rather a matter of mutual respect among guests. Overall, I would still recommend this place for its great location and amenities. Just bring a bit of patience – as with any shared space, the experience can vary depending on who you’re sharing it with.

It's not my first time staying in a dorm-style kind of accomodation in Rome or around Italy. I just needed a place to crash out and do some work in the common room while everyone's asleep. I had a little chat with a few members of the staff and a couple of solo travellers I caught up with in the dining room. They were all nice except the grumpy receptionist on a night shift. I got locked out of room 509 ( trip to the bathroom at 2.30am ) The common area serves its purpose , you can make a cup.of tea , eat your meal in peace or just store your food in the fridge There is Pam supermarket across the main road which is really convenient. I am definitely coming back with my teenage daughter.

The shower near room 509 gets flooded as it drains slowly. Plumbing problem which is common in many places I've been to.
