Everything was great. Location was excellent, near the bus station and near the city center. Breakfast was nice and delicious, has everything you eat plus coffee.

The sheets were dirty!

We had the MOST wonderful stay at the Shire Hotel. Prior to arrival, the staff had already been responsive on our request for twin beds, and we found out at check-in that the responsiveness entailed an upgrade to one of their gorgeous corner suites. The room was stunning, having the best corner view of the Porta Pinciana gate! Beds were comfy and breakfast absolutely did the job. The location is nice for those who want to be within walking distance of main monuments but also far enough away from the throng of people. Also, a very dog friendly property! My little guy was happy and well taken care of! We were also treated to a complementary bottle of prosecco on the 2nd night of our stay (after I asked if Harry's Bar downstairs would send one up for us). Truly the staff went above and beyond for us - and they were all so lovely!

For me the best thing about the Shire hotel was its location, it is situated near the Termini station and the beautiful park, which I enjoyed running round. It’s an easy 20 minute stroll to the main attractions (definitely not an hour as per the reception info!) and right next to a Metro stop should choose to use it. I walked everywhere and just soaked up the atmosphere and the architecture. It’s such a beautiful and lively city - spoilt only by the vast amounts of tourists! (Which I was one of!) The hotel served a lovely breakfast and my room was perfect for one person, and very quiet. I didn’t have a view of anything except buildings but I requested a quiet room so assumed I was given that one as it faced off the road. The hotel is situated on the first floor so it was hard to tell what the weather was doing without running down the stairs and outside but I imagine in summer you wouldn’t need to do this as it’s just hot! I loved the bright white hotel decor and would definitely recommend.

Like that the room is spacious and new compared to the standard rooms in Rome at the same rating. The owner and staff were really nice all the time. Take note, to give the specific time of arrival as the reception close after 6pm. We were a bit delayed and lucky we managed to call the owner to hand us our keys. She also recommended us a good restaurant around the corner. In Rome there are plenty of tourist traps and what was recommended was not one. Would choose the hotel once again if we return. Breakfast was simple if you are not a big eater. Good for us to pick up a fruit or a coffee to start the day.

The rooms were new, but the design in the bathroom had some flaws. The bathroom was always wet because of how one of the pipes were positioned. But small matter, if you can wipe it off with the towels. The water damage on the bathroom furniture is quite visible. The cleanliness of the bathroom can be improved before and during the stay.

Breakfast was not very rich but sufficient. Since the hotel is at first floor, the street noise was in the room,luckily the street was not too busy

Staff was wonderful, Magdalena was so kind when checking us in early and showing us to breakfast. Food was very good and more than adequate. Room was large and very comfortable. Great location, we were able to walk everywhere, including all major attractions in Rome and there are many restaurants nearby. Wonderful experience at this hotel. Highly recommend.

Great location, nice, elegant neighbourhood, a short walk to the Borghese park, metro (Barberini), the Spanish Steps, with nice cafes and restaurants close by. The room was bright, quiet and comfortable, especially the bed and the pillows - we got one overlooking Via Veneto through a beautiful green, leafy tree (January). The staff members were very helpful, we asked for a few things during our stay (borrowing electric kettle, wine opener and glasses) and they were happy to arrange for that, the room was cleaned on a daily basis.

Bathroom ventilation could be better (humidity and sewage smell), shower design created water spillage. Breakfast could include some fresh items (eggs seemed to have been boiled quite much in advance, no fresh bread or vegetables).

The rooms are well decorated and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. The location is nice, and the price is very convenient. We forgot a clothing item in the room after check-out and I got a message from the hotel the next day asking how we would like to recuperate the item, which I thought was a pretty nice gesture.

The building entrance is not very nice. You don't even notice the sign for the hotel before you get real close to the intercom at the entrance of the building. The room was a bit too warm. Unfortunately the air-conditioning system was still turned off because it was not summer season yet, so it was a tad uncomfortable to sleep at night and we could not open the window because the pub downstairs is a bit noisy. (the sound proofing is very good once the windows are closed)

- The beds were comfy, room was clean and spacious - Bathroom was really modern, with walk in shower and lots of toiletries - Breakfast was really good! Saw a review that it wasn't great, but it was ample and a good selection! - Really is a great for 2/3 days in Rome

- there's one mirror in the room which is in the bathroom (and steams up after a shower) would be so easy to put a full length mirror in the bedroom, would increase my satisfaction tenfold! - the hairdryer was a crappy push to start travel one - again, so simple to provide a proper hairdryer - no kettle in the room, fine for me but think this ruined my Mum's mornings lol - but again, so so simple to do - stay would have been PERFECT if these three things were done
