The location is terrific. Right by the castle, within a few minutes walk of all the bars, restaurants and the ferry boats. Even though it is close to the busy centre, the hotel is surprisingly peaceful. This is a family-run business with a very friendly atmosphere. Breakfast is varied with lots of fresh local produce, which can be eaten on the pretty terrace overlooking the lake. Don't expect all mod cons - this is very much traditional Italian and some will say it's dated, but for us this was the real charm of this little gem.

Fabulous location for food, ferry, etc. We had room 16 which overlooked the lake and part of the castle - amazing. Such a helpful owner who spoke great English. The air con worked really well. The breakfast was a very good buffet and varied. Loved the fact that you could step outside and go swimming in the Lake from the tiny beach area. The hotel is basic but adequate but the location is to die for. A really pretty breakfast terrace too.

Our room had a hand held shower only , in the bath, so would have preferred a proper shower cubicle. Be aware that a lot of the tiny streets in the old town, like other European towns, can smell a bit of urine sometimes when it's hot....maybe from dogs etc? They do try and wash the streets /pavements but we did notice it some days.

The location was great, right near the Castello, in the heart of Sirmione old town, just a few steps away from restaurants and souvenir shops. The hotel is small, clean, cozy and gives a homey feeling. Our room was comfortable, and the view from the window was very nice. The breakfast buffet has a generous assortment, and the breakfast terrace is just above the lake, with a spectacular view at the lake and the Castello. I loved these mornings on the terrace so much. The hostess was exceptionally helpful and friendly. When we are in Sirmione next time we'll definitely stay at the Hotel Grifone again.

The hotel is really close to the Scaliger castle and really convenient for everything in the center. The open car shuttle from the parking is great and well organised. The breakfast was lovely with great choice of sweet and savoury. And as it was a beautiful day we were able to eat on the terrace on the lake which offers a wonderful view. We had breakfast to the sound of the lake and the many sparrows and birds around. Just heavenly! Staff is super-helpful and kind. Moreover Hotel Grifone is super clean. The furniture is some kind of modern vintage which I believe it is part of its charm. I would recommend it for couples.

The owner is very friendly and very attentive in helping guests with any queries they have. She took the time to explain to me how the bus service to Verona works so that I didn't have to worry when I caught the bus the day after departure. The rooms themselves are very traditional and my particular room had a fantastic view from the balcony, overlooking the small beach area and the lake and mountains. It was a beautifully serene, pleasant and relaxing stay at a very affordable rate for all you got. The breakfast was amazing and the freshly made baked-goods were very tasty also.

If I had to nitpick, I think the bed-setting would look better with 2 sets of pillows - I understand that I was a solo traveler and didn't need two sets, but it made the room look a little bit weird. I did look in the wardrobe and couldn't find any extras. It was not a huge issue and I'm sure it would have been resolved if I said anything. I just think that the finishing touch would have really made the experience feel more premium.

Amazing location with fantastic views. Excellent breakfast served by dedicated and helpful staff on a terrace right by the water. The host/owner was very friendly and helped us to rent a scooter and to find different places. Details: We had a room without a balcony but could open the windows and "feel the lake". The AC was powerful and we slept really well. The wet room was ok, the water pressure around Garda is what it is but there was plenty of warm water for all our "July showers". We took the ferry from Desenzano (train station) to Sirmione (€3/p, 2024) and landed a few minutes from the hotel. Tip: Although there are ferries to many places and it can be nice to be on the lake, we recommend taking the local bus more, especially to the east side. Partly because there are usually indoor seats on the "AC lottery ferries" and partly because it is usually faster by bus. The hotel provided excellent information in advance about how to get there, where to park etc. Fyi: The car park is just outside the city core, but a small shuttle bus goes around and picks people up.

What more can you want? Ok, it's a 2-star hotel, so there's no laundry service, no restaurant, and not open 24/7. But everything else is in place. The location and views are outstanding, you can buy a drink/wine/beer and sit on the terrace; plenty of restaurants are nearby.

The hotel is located in the old part of the town right next to the castle with great views from our room over the lake. It is a very traditional hotel and the décor is very classic Italian which just adds to the charm of the place. The staff were exceptional and the whole place was immaculate. The breakfast terrace is a fabulous place to start the day with views over the lake. Step outside and you were straight into the old streets of the town with many bars and restaurants. Top marks to all the staff, great place to stay, unique but very nice indeed

Location, view of castle. Close to the town, shops and restaurant. Lots of choices at breakfast, inside and outside tables next to the water. Very peaceful, large balcony. Friendly staff, tried to help with a few issues we experienced. Transport to and from car park included.

No fridge in room but staff stored milk for us. AC was noisy and couldn’t use it, fan 1-4 speed only worked on 4 and was noisy. Bed was very hard but mattress topper was added as soon as staff aware. Bad vibration in room when restaurant extractor on downstairs. Only a small bath and shower attachment. Unable to shower at full height as no attachment or curtain. Luckily it didn’t ruin our stay and we enjoyed Sirmione.

Grifo Parking - the buggy to hotel service makes it easy. We handed over our luggage and walked to the hotel because it was so near. The hotel is next to the castle at the entrance to Sirmione and we had a view of the lake from our 1st floor room. Booking in was easy and the room was ready for 1400hrs. The room was practical and basic as expected for the rating of the hotel, just what we needed as we were using it as a base. The breakfast was very good with enough choice for everyone. Air Conditioning and TV in the room. The staff are very welcoming and informative.

No in-room coffee and tea making facilities. No duvet only sheets and a blanket. The temperature did drop in the room at night due to the build of the hotel. Obviously this would be an advantage in the summer.

The location is unbeatable, our room had a picture perfect view of the castle, and everything in the city was within walking distance. Breakfast was great with lots of bread, cheese, and sweets, and the staff were super friendly and easy to talk to.

The place is quite old and could use a refresh. It felt a bit like staying at grandma’s house, and the bathroom, especially the tiny shower with the clingy curtain, wasn't the most comfortable.
