The view from the room was breathtaking, featuring Mount Vesuvius and the coast in a 180° view. Maybe the most beautiful view of any hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The interior room featured pillars and carvings, very beautiful. The food in the restaurant was delicious. Hotel beach was convenient. Chilly May temperatures, but I did swim in the Bay of Naples.

The room was uncomfortably cold. I asked for more heat, and there was some confusion for about 24 hours until a manager finally confessed that the owner decided not to have heat in the building after the end of April. They did bring me a radiator, but I am of the opinion that the guests should have the right to make the room temperature of their choosing.

LaTonarella was our most memorable stay during our trip! It was so charming with beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea and you could see Mt Vesuvius across the water, It was beautiful in the morning. The hotel was so charming in every way from the beautiful decor, which was traditional with beautiful woods and the upholstery was modern and new. There was an elevator and nature walk down to the beach that was indescribably picturesque. We had dinner in the restaurant the first night and it was one of the best meals we enjoyed on our two-week trip. The hotel staff was so helpful with all of our needs. And a great plus was the location. We had a 10 minute walk down into the city center each night. The street was well lit to be able to walk back to the hotel as the sun was setting.

We had a wonderful stay at La Tonarella, the staff are lovely and really helpful. Our room had a panoramic view of the ocean and of Sorrento (the location is about 15-20min walk along the cliff from the main area of Sorrento, views are amazing). The breakfast was delicious and again, with amazing views! There is a restaurant up on the terrace, and although we didn't have time to eat there, it looked like a great experience. The bed was really comfy in our room and we slept well with the air conditioning on. There is USB C/regular USB ports which I found really convenient. There is a private beach accessed by a lift down, which was quiet and cheaper to rent the loungers than in the main town, there is a bar serving drinks and snacks too. I would highly recommend this hotel if you want a traditional Italian feel with spectacular views!

This is an old hotel so things are never going to be perfect, the shower didn't drain very fast and filled up with water quickly. But other than that the room was great. It was quite difficult to swim at the private beach due to the big stones leading down to the water, and it was quite choppy. I enjoyed it much more at Leonelli's beach as it was easier to swim and there was loads of food and drink options. Be prepared for an expensive taxi to/from the train station or ferry port. It's €30/€35 one way and the drive is about 8mins, more than double what we paid in Rome and Naples

We had four nights in this lovely hotel. It's superbly located with stunning views across the bay and just a ten minute stroll down the hill into the heart of the town. All the staff were kind and very helpful, we had a very nice and spacious room and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Sorrento is beautiful and the hotel is a great base from which to enjoy it: the private beach is a bonus extra and we spent one full and enjoyable day on it. We'd strongly recommend the hotel and thanks again to all the staff.

Such a beautiful, unique hotel experience! We stayed in the room with the wrap around balcony and we never wanted to leave the hotel. It was truly an unforgettable stay. Amazing breakfast in the mornings with plenty of options and a stunning view. Everywhere you go in this hotel the views are breathtaking. Staff are super friendly! Would definitely return.

We went during off season in March so the hotel restaurant was not open. The walk to the main area of sorrento where there are a lot of restaurants is about a 15min downhill. The view is amazing the entire time so it doesn’t feel like a huge burden. The only downside was my husband had hurt his foot earlier in the trip so we had to take a taxi up and down a couple times which was quite pricy! 30 euros one way!! No fault of the hotel just FYI in case you’re unable to walk far distances

We had room number 18 and the views of Sorrento and Mount Vesuvius were incredible! We had a few early tours and it was lovely of the hotel staff to arrange private transport for us to the Amalfi Coast and provide us with some hot americanos for the ride. We loved taking advantage of the included breakfast in the lovely dining room each morning. Also, very nice lunches on the terrace!

Wish pillows were a little firmer, but would still absolutely stay here again.

It’s position and views from everywhere, parking, restaurant and breakfast. Room was a bit small but had a blacony. We had a seaview room and were looking back on sorrento with chairs and table to enjoy the view. Just watching the comings and goings of boats was a pleasure. The terrace restaurant was outstanding the best meal we had in Italy. The lift to the beach is good, the beach is a little bit wavy because it is not in a protected cove, and the pebbles were a bit tricky. Discount for lounges at the beach and a lovely little restaurant.

We had a great stay. The hotel is lovely. The staff great - and a special shout out for Luigi the maitre d who calmly and humorously deals with guests and is in total control of the whole dining experience.

Our room (14) was very pleasant but at the very top of the hotel so suffers fro road noise. When we go back we'll ask for a similar type of room a floor or two below.

It’s absolutely stunning and completely unique and charming. Our room was fabulous. I couldn’t even tell how great it was from the pictures. The bathroom is OUTSTANDING! And the views and little balconies are too die for. The breakfast and staff were also fantastic.

That one step I always tripped on going down to my room, ha! It’s a bit of a walk to the main area but I really didn’t mind. It’s good to walk when you’re there. Our room had a lovely little green area with beautiful trees but it was a bit overgrown if I’m being picky.

Friendly, accommodating staff. Breathtaking view from large private terrace. Luxurious breakfast buffet with outdoor option. Lovely antiques and ceramics give the property a local, intimate feel.

The walk into town was scenic and short, but harrowing because of the narrow sidewalk and racing traffic. A shuttle would have been much appreciated.
