Hotel Rivalago exceeded our expectations. We arrived late and were shown our apartment which was spotless and stylish. It didn't have a lake view but no matter as it was easy to make the most of the lake view at all other times -and having a leisurely breakfast looking out across the lake was perfect. Great selection of breakfast - with healthy options such as apple and ginger juice. We hired the hotel e-bikes - first time we've used e-bikes as usually we'd just use our mountain bikes ... however with 34 degree heat we decided to treat ourselves. Definitely worth it as you can still have a work out going up the hill - but you can achieve a greater distance for site seeing. We went up to the 'Pyramidi di Zone' basically an area full of glacial sand towers with boulders perched on top. I can't believe this area is not more famous. It was beautiful! We stopped at the last hairpin bend before you reach the village of Cislano and just walked for 5 mins down the track and we were right next to one of the 'pyramidi'. Anyhow back to the hotel - we also hired paddle boards for 10 euro an hour. These were great fun. Finally dinner was exceptional - we had the spaghetti alle vongole - it was incredible and very generous on the clam front. The pool looked good too - but I can't believe we didn't even use it as the lake was just too tempting:)

An option of freshly cooked eggs in the morning would be our preference rather than eggs in buffet.

The location of this property is absolutely stunning! I would highly recommend that you book a lake view room with a balcony if you appreciate a good view. Probably one of the nicest locations we have been to. Spotlessly clean. Excellent breakfast.

The property is situated in a small village called Sulzano so you need to use a car or public transport to get around. There are no trains after approximately 8.30pm. You need to book a taxi in advance and they are expensive (€30 for a 10 minute trip). You can get a boat to Monte Isola where there are a selection of bars and restaurants. A return trip on the boat costs around €14 for a couple. We didn’t know this in advance which is why we are sharing it with you. It’s not a complaint, it’s just good to know before you go.

We had a lovely, large suite with a huge terrace for our stay that was very comfortable and had wonderful views across the lake. We were on the 3rd and top floor with a lift so transporting luggage to our room was easy. On site parking was also a huge plus. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is well located to two ferry piers: one for the 10 min trip to Monte Isola (highly recommend to hire a bike and do the 1 hr / 9 km loop around the island) and the other for the 20 min trip to Iseo ( go for lunch. Unfortunately ferry times don’t suit having dinner there) There is the most glorious view from the heated pool and lovely grounds over the lake.

A few small things were an issue: # No tea and coffee making facilities in the room. #No free power sockets beside the bed (could be easily fixed with double adapters). # Limited options for alternative evening dining nearby meant having to dine in. The restaurant is run by an external company and the food was only just ok.

It’s got the most beautiful views of the lake, the outside seating area is stunning we had breakfast and evening drinks here. The staff are very welcoming and helpful, we had a standard room which had everything you need and aircon. Great breakfast lots of options and we had a fantastic dinner there too the truffle pasta is delicious!

Nothing to complain about it’s lovely, the room decor is a bit dated but I think that’s part of the charm.

The breakfast buffet was fabulous . From the beautiful pastry table ,to the hot dishes ,to the meat and cheese trays and then the espresso and coffee machine it was all beautifully presented and delicious. The staff was helpful if there was anything else needed. The pool and hot tub with views of the lake were paradise as was the hotel location in one of the most beautiful settings in the world .

I don’t think I have ever felt more relaxed than at this hotel. Away from crowds and everything spotless and exceptional quality perfect for a few days rest and relaxation before full on sightseeing. If you want to experience the real “Italian lakes holiday” this is it.

Nothing really - parking was tight but exactly as they said it would be on website and email communications.

The hotel has an ideal location by the lake where you can swim. The station with boats that go to the island of Monte Isola and other places by the lake is only a 1-minute walk away, the train station is a 5-minute walk away. Breakfast is self-service, an excellent selection of food (fresh fruit, a large selection of cheeses, cold meats, homemade cakes), a good machine for coffee, tea, juices,... During the day, they offer you several types of cocktails.

We really liked the location and the size of the room, which was ideal for two adults and two children.

We didn’t like that the room was located at the very top of the building, with no elevator and many stairs, which made carrying things daily quite difficult. The rooms also felt very stuffy, which affected the quality of our sleep.

When we arrive the hotel gave a us a fabulous bottle of Champagne as it was my honeymoon . The staff we truly fantastic , super helpful nothing was to much trouble , love this hotel and staff really can’t wait to return . Excellent . ✨✨✨✨✨

Very comfortable hotel in a stunning location right on the shore of the lake. Highly recommended on one of Italy’s quieter and smaller lakes. staff very helpful. Essential to book parking - it’s limited and quite tight. Excellent ferry service around the lake and several places to eat on Mt Isola - 5 mins on the ferry

The restaurant is quite expensive for what it offers but it’s a franchise so you don’t have to eat there
