The hotel is an excellent location right in the middle of Taormina. While rather dated, the room was comfortable, well equipped & immaculately clean. All of the staff we encountered were very helpful & the breakfast offering was very good

The hotel is set over five floors with reception on the fourth & the exit door onto Taormina’s Corso Umberto on the first. However, the hotel switches off the only lift between floors from 20.30 to 06.30 every day. I am unsure why they do this but returning after 20.30 & having to climb up three flights of stairs to collect keys at reception (you are required to leave keys when you go out) is unacceptable. While just about OK for us, we observed elderly residents struggling. If it really needs to be switched off, surely this can be done much later in the evening. While not the fault of the hotel, we share other reviewers complaints about loud music from an adjacent bar every night until after midnight. Be warned if you like to retire to bed earlier

I loved the view we got - it was amazing waking up every morning and watch the sea, the town and Mt Etna. The terrace was amazing with lots of space. There was a lot of stairs to get to the accommodation from the Main Street. The hotel is accessible on a main road behind the building. So it’s possible to get a taxi there if you need to. The beach bus that the hotel offer can pick you up outside the hotel which is much easier and is better value than trying to do get to the beach yourself (if you want umbrella and chair). Breakfast was great but we stayed a week and felt it could be changed a little bit so it doesn’t get boring, just by changing bread, changing cakes, add savoury croissants. It was plenty to choose from it just need to add some change ups A toaster would be great for toasts. Staff were amazing, so friendly and helpful.

We loved the live music we could hear from our room from the restaurant below. But the singer needs to change up his repertoire, it was the same songs every night. This has nothing to do with the property as the restaurant aren’t theirs.

The location is perfect , in the middle of the city. They take care ( after paying , of course) of your car when arriving. The city is on a hill so there are few park lots and a guy takes your car and give it you back if you need it . Ask the hotel 10 min before your arrival.

It’s a tacky hotel frozen in the 80-90’s with horrible decoration . Breakfast was really poor and you can hear live music till 12 pm, that’s ok if you’re on vacations but , every single night is the same repertoire . The poor guy hasn’t got voice . This city is amazing but try to avoid the week ends , too crowded . Hordes of people by the streets , all devouring pasta and pizza at the same hour … crazy! I think white lotus wasn’t good for this city .

The hotel was adequate and clean. Location is central to the town. It has a nice patio outside the room. my room had no view but other family members did.

However, elevator works only between the hours of 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. We arrived late and the elevator was not available so we had to carry luggage down a marble circular staircase. This hotel is not suitable for people who have problems walking as I do. Bathroom is spacious but there is a step to access it. The tub shower is a jacuzzi and again slippery and not friendly to those who need just a shower. In all fairness, I'm not sure if all rooms are the same. Before booking and if the individual has ambulatory issues they need to check.

Great location, really close to the centre of the Taormina town. We walked from the bus station and it was fairly hilly but the receptionist booked us a taxi for when we left which was super helpful. Balcony was great in the evening, good amenities.

Not the hotels fault but the place beneath it play live music until midnight each night. Got a bit sick of Mr Brightside and Wonderwall after 2 nights

The view was amazing!! Charming and delightful! As a picky traveler who is used to higher end accommodations, I was a little nervous about staying in an older hotel. I have to say that our room was absolutely lovely! Spotlessly clean! Conveniently located. Great breakfast. Excellent value! A little side story regarding my experience: I was feeling under the weather had to stay behind while my husband and friends went sightseeing. I wanted to relax in the sun but didn't feel like going to the beach (we had the smaller room, instead of the larger room with big balconies and lounge chairs). I stopped the cleaning/housekeeping woman in the hall and asked her if there was a public balcony so I could sunbath. Although her English was better than my Italian, she shook her head "no" and I figured that she didn't understand my question, The next thing I knew she was knocking on my door and marched in with 2 men who went out to the balcony. I wasn't sure what was going on, but I assumed it was some sort of maintenance issue. Much to my surprise the next thing I knew, the two men were bringing in a lounge chair and placed it on my little balcony! Now that's service! Not only that but when I came back to my room after getting some breakfast, the lounge chair was made up like a bed, with a sheet, towel and pillow! What would have been a miserable day of being sick on vacation, turned into a relaxing afternoon of enjoying the amazing view without having to leave the hotel! I didn't get this housekeeping womans name (she was blonde, and a little older) but hope that management gives her a raise!

If you like to party, this is the place! The outside hotel lounge, which was right below our room and had a singer who performed until about 1 a.m. If I were feeling better, I would have gone down to enjoy the fun, since the crowd seemed to love him. However, if you want to sleep, you'll need to ask a different room or wait until the show is over.

Comfortable, clean, hospitable. Excellent, ample, various breakfast selection. Surrounded by beautiful paintings, ceramics, terracotta and ironwork in all the public areas- all work created by one man, Giuseppe Cuscona, the artisan who owned the hotel years ago. Location high above the main avenue, Corso Umberto, with beautiful views.

Hillside location makes it accessible, but with suitcases - only by taxi. It is walkable but is a steep 30 steps up from Corso Umberto.

The location is very good, right in the middle of the action. The room is big enough and the AC works well, which is very important during summer days. Also the reception staff is very welcoming and overall we had a pleasant stay. The breakfast is not exceptional but there are plenty of options to choose from. The highlight was, of course, the panoramic view we had from the balcony!

The furniture is very old and could use some renovation.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Vello d'Oro. We had a balcony with our room which was a real treat. Comfy beds and efficient air conditioning. The rooftop terrace was just gorgeous - the sunset and Etna. Beautiful! The barman was great. Being right in the centre of Taormina was such fun.

Without the balcony the room might have felt a bit cramped but this is not unusual in a town centre hotel.

Situated just a few steps down to the main square in Taormina. Nice clean large room, amazing views. Hotel finished with some beautiful art work. Hotel very quiet

Breakfast was OK, but not great. Slightly dated in furnishings etc Although the hotel has a bar and a terrace, all the residents went into the town hence it was lacking in atmosphere, which is a shame in some ways
