The fact that it was located in a residential area, where you could feel the real Venice. The buffet breakfast and the attention to detail of the room and reception. The staff provide guidance to visit the best places in Venice.

Francesca gave us a very warm welcome on arrival & although we arrived in the morning, she allowed us to leave our luggage until check-in time. She was very friendly throughout our stay and offered plenty tips eg the vaporetto stop at Madonna dell’Orto from where you can reach Murano & many other stops around Venice, it is a really convenient way to get around & see Venice from another prospective. Francesco also told us about the Traghetto, a €2 gondola crossing of the Grand Canal at 3 locations- a great tip to get that IG gondola photo. Very easy to find & only a 20min walk(with luggage) from the Piazzale Roma bus station. Fantastic location in Canneregio just a few steps from the vibrant canalside bars/cafes/restaurants on Fondamenta de la Misericordia/Fondamenta de la Capuzine. The hotel had a lovely breakfast area with some tables at the canalside. All members of staff from reception to breakfast servers & cleaners were very friendly and always wished us “Bon giorno”. The room was spacious, clean & comfortable. I would definitely stay at Al Mascaron Ridente if I visit Venice again & recommend to anyone planning on visiting Venice.

Beautifully decorated room with exposed brick from its original use as a sugar refinery. On check in we were given a map that the hotel had had modified and featured their recommendations and itineraries. Some local information was given to us which proved to be very helpful. Location is along a quieter canal with a more ‘locals feel’ which was lovely. It was about 5 mins max from the busy tourist streets. Venice even in March was busy so the peaceful nature of this hotels location was very welcomed.

Soundproofing in the room was amazing. Couldn’t hear any adjacent rooms once they were in the room but could hear them when they were in the corridor. This wasn’t too much of a problem though as we never noticed it after 9pm or before 8am.

The Al Mascaron Ridente was a very charming hotel which exceeded expectations. Our room was a canal view room, located on the first floor, which had two large windows which opened out onto a gorgeous, relatively quiet, canal. It was a pleasure to experience the canal traffic and hear the boats chugging up and down. The room itself was very clean and housekeeping did a very good job to keep it that way during our stay. The size of the room was more than adequate and included a very large wardrobe and sideboard. The beds and bedding were clean and comfortable, with extra pillow and blanket in the wardrobe if needed. The bathroom was also a good size and included shower gels, hats, soaps and spare toilet roll, as well as a hairdryer. Just outside the courtyard entrance to the hotel was the quayside where there were many restaurants to choose from, all located in relatively quiet setting, more off the beaten tourist track, which was thoroughly enjoyable. The breakfast room was exceptional, with its large open doorway looking directly out on to the canal at ground level, and had an air of peace and calm. Because we had to catch an early train on the day of departure, we missed breakfast. However the hotel provided us with a breakfast bag to take with us. I really enjoyed staying here and wouldn’t hesitate to return.

It’s hard to think of anything I didn't like.

First of all, we were allowed to change rooms to accommodate our needs. The rooms were elegant, roomy, and comfortable . Breakfast was just right, and being able to watch people go to work and parents send children to school from the window on the canal as we enjoyed our food was super. We were in a quieter part of the city with great restaurants and shops.

Being the 1st time to Venice, I didn't know the 10 minute walk to the hotel from the water transport consisted of cobblestone walkways and staired bridges while dragging our luggage (at night). A little more knowledge would have been great. Live and learn, and we did. Venice was wonderful and fascinating!

I had a very pleasant stay at this 3-star hotel. It offers great value for money, with a convenient location and plenty of nice restaurants nearby. The room was large, clean, and comfortable, and the staff were polite and helpful. While I understand it's a 3-star hotel and didn’t expect luxury, the breakfast could be improved. The selection was quite limited—mainly few pieces of cheese, ham, boiled egg, and some heated pancakes. Additionally breakfast you need to request the day before. Otherwise, the standard breakfast includes just coffee, some baked goods, and fruit, which felt a bit minimal. Apart from that, everything else was great.

Basic rooms but very clean and tidy, excellent location, affordable relative to others in Venice. What more could you want? The breakfast was substantial with eggs, bacon, toast and muesli / cereal etc. We didn’t try the pancakes but there was an option too. The staff were all very friendly and Lara on check in and check out was very helpful. Cannaregio as an area in Venice was one of our favourites as first time visitors, luckily. So many good restaurants close to the hotel we didn’t want to stray too far for meals. We would happily stay there again!

It’s a 3 star hotel and you should treat it as such. Having said that, we had no complaints, the bed was comfortable the breakfast was better than expected, we were pleasantly surprised.

Nice little hotel located 10minutes from city center. The hotel is easily located and they informed you about all the details of arrival, departure etc via messages in this platform which is incredible helpful. The personnel working there are exceptionally polite and really really helpful. The rooms were cleaned adequately and provided all necessary amenities.

The only thing i did not like, but it is purely dependent on my personal view, is the fact that the breakfast is served in a very small room, the tables are really close to each other and is a bit uncomfortable. Other than that which again is my personal view, everything was ok.

No real lounge available but cafes just a few steps away if you need somewhere to sit etc

This is a lovely hotel in the Cannaregio district. The hotel itself is extremely comfortable and the breakfast room overlooking the canal provides a great start to the day! It is set in a quiet area, with some lovely bars and restaurants in the immediate area. About a 15/20 minute walk to some of the main attractions, but it was great to escape the crowds of Venice. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Our room had a mezzanine for the bedroom. It was lovely, but did get quite warm. That said, a fan may have been available, had we asked.
