Firstly, the staff were incredibly polite, kind and helpful; and in a genuinely authentic way. The location is excellent, obviously. I booked an Economy Double which, while on the smaller side, was ideal for a solo traveler. Do note that the bathroom in particular is very small. And also there is no elevator. All of these things were clearly explained in advance though so nothing was a surprise. For the price, I think this hotel represents a great find, and I now understand why it is rated so highly.

Nothing, it was more than I expected.

It was GREAT, almost amazing :). I have been to Italy before, lots of times, and (almost) all the times the rooms in touristic areas are very small, not exactly up to the stars and THE PRICE you pay! BUT, in the case of HOTEL ORION, we were completely surprised - we went for 4 days, a family of two adults and one teenager :). First, the pricing was decent for Venice, VERY BEST position - less than 2 minutes slow walk to the Piazza San Marco (and we booked only 8 days before going, due to a schedule modification). Then, the room (we had a triple room - Apartment 1, in a separate building, 10 meters from the main building) was absolutely huge, very nicely furnished, super clean (and with daily cleaning), very large bathroom with bathtub and shower. Even though the hotel is ranked with only 2 stars (and I had a little doubt when booking, as the comments and ratings were very good but I know they are not always realistic... from previous personal experiences) the atmosphere and the staying were excellent. The breakfast, in a small and chic restaurant at the second floor overseeing two classic small Venetian streets, is perfect for starting a beautiful day exploring Venice, with (not so many but) very tasty options and quite a good coffee. The guys (and one girl at least) that we met at the tiny, but ALWAYS ON, reception are very helpful and supportive. Their recommendation for eating places, categorized on pricing/menu/style were spot on and very realistic (we have checked their list and also ate at several other places... but in fact it is quite difficult to find bad food in Italy :) ); they also gave us some great tips for getting museum/palace tickets that saved us several hours in ques :). The location of the hotel is absolutely perfect and we would love to stay there again when we will visit this extraordinary unique city a second time.

The stuff was amazingly nice, and Melba, the girl who takes care of the breakfast, was the cherry on the cake. The Hotel, while small, provided an exceptional experience, it's cleanliness and central Venice location were outstanding. The absence of lifts is a minor drawback, typical of Venetian hotels. To enhance guest experience, I recommend assigning rooms based on age, prioritizing lower floors for guests over 60 and upper floors for younger guests. This suggestion does not reflect on the high quality of service already provided. Thanks Noel Genovese.

Excellent location, mid-way between Rialto and St Marks. Clean accommodation, bed made and towels changed every day. Small room but adequate. Quite warm, but left window open. Very pleasant staff. Lots of bars and restaurants literally on the doorstep. Bathroom very small but adequate (it's an old building so to be expected). Beautifully restored beams in our room on 4th floor. Extremely good value for money for such a central location.

Very centrally located so quite a lot of pedestrian noise. The Church next door's bells ring - loudly - every hour from 7.00am! No lift so quite a hike upstairs - if you have mobility issues then ask for a room on a lower floor. A kettle in the room for making a drink might have been nice.

I was very happy with the room, location, and breakfast! You cannot get more central than this in my opinion in Venice. Staff was so friendly and helpful, in English, too. I would definitely stay there again. If you have heavy roller bags, get off at San Marco (flat terrain to hotel), if you can easily move your luggage, Rialto is slightly quicker with bridges/stairs. Staff helped me with my bags up the stairs in the hotel, thank you! Even though it was in a touristy/busy area, my room was very quiet.

Can't think of anything. Maybe some kind of TV upgrade would be nice since all channels were news in other languages it seemed, but I wasn't there to watch TV, so I didn't really care.

Very nice family run hotel located right next to Piazza San Marco. Very clean and well kept rooms. But what we loved most is the staff.. from Melba who took care of breakfast, the nice receptionists who were always happy to greet us and help. And last and most important the lovely owner Concetta who treated us like family. This was our first stay at this hotel but we are planning to stay here again next year. Thank you Hotel Orion for a memorable stay and see you again next year 😍

The hotel is in a brilliant location close to St Mark's Square. All staff were really friendly and did everything they could to ensure we were having a good stay. The hotel is well presented and very clean. Our room was a good size and very comfortable. There was a good variety of food options available at breakfast. The hotel kindly gave us a very generous take away breakfast as we had to leave to catch our flight before breakfast. Would thoroughly recommend.

the staff was really attentive and went the extra mile to make my parents feel confortable. the room was spacious and clean - it looked exactly as on the photos on the website. The beds were confy and the breakfast varied and tasty. the location was minutes away from S.Marks square and a great vatiety of restaurants and shops. they came back delighted from their wedding anniversary break! thank you!

VALUE FOR MONEY in Winter. Perfect location, price, right 4 mins away from St mark's basilica and a walk away from every major landmark in Venice. Room much bigger than expected and all amenities we needed. Super clean facilities, daily room service and friendly staff. Organised and respectful.

Odd thing you must return the key every time you go out, and get it back later, but not a problem . We could hear guests downstairs arguing sometimes but nothing to bother. We were on the last floor, no elevator due to historical building probably, so lots of stairs but not a big issue for us we are young and healthy. But if you are in your 60s with knee issues make sure to ask for first floor.

I liked the location (just next to San Marco square) and the friendly staff. Everything was clean, especially the bed linen and the bathroom.

The bathroom is too small, we barely had space to enter (the sink was so close to the toilet), the hairdryer could be changed with something more efficient that doesn’t take 1 hour to dry your hair. The walls are thin, last night we had some noisy neighbours, I couldn’t sleep at all..so take your earplugs with you.
