The staff were very nice, the place is very clean and cozy, and there's an on-site restaurant, which was very convenient for me, especially one night when it was pouring and I couldn't go anywhere... haha. Bed was comfortable, overall a very good experience!

There was no common area facility, just the kitchen in case you wanted to just sit down and chill. After the restaurant is closed, you can use the tables and couches, but that's late, so during the afternoon you have not many options but the kitchen. I say that because it was pouting, so I stayed in for some time and stayed in bed while waiting for the weather to settle. No much more than that, nice place!

It was really close to the train station, they had a lot areas to relax, it was clean, staff always available, and good communication.

I didn't like that there was only one wallet outlet in the bunk bed for charging purposes, some of us travel with more than one electronic device that requires to charge them during the night and keeping our stuff close. Lockers were too small, bags barely fit in and if it didn't you would have to leave it out hoping that none go over your stuff [it didn't happen but you always try to be careful]

The location is walkable from Kawaguchiko Station. Quiet neighborhood. Spacious bunk bed. Very accommodating host/s. Free coffee/tea. Modest kitchen utensils and equipment. Water from the faucet is potable (safe to drink). Nice shower rooms!

The toilet near the shower room only had the flush button function. It didn't have the washlet function. On the other hand, the toilet near the rooms was okay but there's a narrow opening when the door is completely closed. It can be uncomfortable if anyone from the outside could peek through it when they walk across the hallway. Also, I wished there was a shoe rack for the guests to leave their shoes. I stayed in the lower bunk bed and during my last night of stay, I couldn't sleep because of the horrible smell of a guest's shoes. I wished they also had earplugs available (although I am not sure because I didn't ask). I couldn't sleep for 2 nights because of the loud snoring of the guest in the upper bunk bed. I admit, though, that some of these experiences are not the hostel's fault.

Second time staying at Kagelow, this time in the private room and I loved it as much as I did the first time! The room was so spacious and had everything we needed, including a view of Mount Fuji right outside our window. We were here for 3 days and saw the elusive Mt Fuji every morning. The kitchen had very comprehensive utensils which we utilised during our stay, and the cafe area is soo cosy. Perfect for sitting on the deck for breakfast in the sun, or snuggling on the couch with a book in the evenings. The staff were chill too.

Friendly staff. Check-in was a breeze. Property located some 10 mins or slightly more away from the train station by foot. Neighbourhood is very quiet. The hostel has a barn style like design and the ambience is very homey and cosy. A big lounge area and outdoor patio for one to relax and mingle. There is a bar and cafe but was closed during my stay. Kitchen is well equipped. Use of washing machine is free. But there is no dryer. There are adequate shower stalls and toilets Despite full house during my stay, I never had to wait to use either. Wifi connection is strong. Lawson and 711 are very near the train station. Family mart is some mins walk away in the direction of the lake from the property. My room is modern minimalistic and comes with a fridge and TV, albeit only japanese channels. Bed is very comfortable and duvet is super fluffy and warm. There is also a desk by the window. The best thing is, the window has a perfect view of Mt Fuji. For 2 days I saw Mt Fuji in it's full glory.

1. TV has no English channel. Not even NHK English news. 2. Room has no hooks/rack/bar to hang stuff. But there are 2 hangers in the room. 3. Room is not small and I am sure it can accommodate a bench to put luggages. The room space can be better utilized. 4. Lightings only concentrated on the bed area. There is no light at the empty space as one enters the room. Which makes packing difficult at night.

Great view of Mt Fuji from our room. Facilities were super clean and well maintained. Room was comfortable and we had no issues with sharing the bathroom as everything was well maintained which was a huge huge plus! Staff were helpful. We were pretty central. Easy walk to the station in one direction, shops and dining in every other direction. The area itself is quiet and appears mostly residential. If you're coming with luggage I suggest you plan ahead as the centre is small and crowded and it's road side walking which makes for hard work walking to and from with a suitcase. Maybe look into luggage forwarding if you're travelling as group. We only had one suitcase so we managed okay but we watched a lot families struggle lugging there stuff around and people with more than one suitcase taking up a lot of space. Stay away from dining around the centre if you can. We went to the tempura place but it was just a tourist eye grab with not much substance. Go to other spots around town.

Was a bit dark in the room at night as the light was only above the tatami floor area. We had to move a lamp from the top bunk down to the bottom floor so we could see into the luggage. But really a minor issue. We got a private room which I believe is able to accommodate maybe 3-4 people max. It was great for 2 but I would see 3-4 people in that room struggling for space if they all had suitcases. In saying that, I got a sneak peak at a room that was left open after someone checked out which looked bigger that what we had so smart packing travellers should be okay.

Kagelow is an easy 10 minute walk from the bus and train station and Fuji can be seen from the street. The facilities themselves are very comfortable with a relaxing outdoor seating area and cool air conditioned dorm with large lockers. The cafe also serves as a communal space. Staff were also very friendly and helpful

There is only one bathroom, the room can feel a bit cold and humid, if not eating at the restaurant you may have to hang out in the hot sun outside. Would be nice to have a vegan option on the menu.

The facilities were great. The staff were so helpful and speak English very well. I also ask for help calling a taxi on the day I checked out due to snow showers. The location is near from Kawaguchiko station, but if you have a luggage it a bit hard to take your luggage because the pedestrian is not so smooth. My room has a window which faces Mt. Fuji. It was soooo great

The room is not so soundproof so sometimes you can hear the guest from next room were chatting and walk in the aisle because the floor from wood (it’s a modern traditional floor and designed hostel)

Highly recommend! Immaculately clean and very calming decor. The shared dorm was incredibly good value and the futon was very comfortable. Kagelow is less than 10 minute walk into Kawaguchiko town which is ideal for hiring a bike (I recommend Pu-san for cheapest price of 1500 yen for full day with regular bike). I'd highly recommend eating at the restaurant in the evening.

Would have been even better if morning coffee/breakfast was was available in the restaurant area.

The staff was incredibly kind and accommodating, making me feel right at home. The price was very reasonable and the location couldn't have been better.

I did want to bring up a couple of small concerns. With the restaurant being so popular, it seems like the common areas for hotel guests have shrunk a bit. It can be a little crowded at times, especially when trying to pack up my bags. Maybe we can find a way to make sure both hotel guests and restaurant customers have a comfortable experience? Also, I noticed that the light from outside was coming in through the windows on the upper bed . Maybe adding some curtains could help with that issue? Overall, I'm still loving my time at the hotel and can't wait to come back again soon. Keep up the great work!
