I stayed at the Deluxe Twin Room with my significant other for a one-night stay and we LOVED it! We were a bit skeptical at first because of the average reviews, but we were so surprised. This place deserves 5/5 stars~! We were immediately met with such lovely hospitality from the staff, and although not all of them spoke English, they tried their best and it was definitely manageable for English-speaking travelers. Both the dinner and breakfast Japanese-styled meals were wonderfully crafted and delicious. Our room, private bathroom, and private outdoor bath were very clean. I can't say more about the outdoor bath, it was so relaxing, and it felt like all of the stress of traveling seeped out of my body. Staying at this ryokan was one of my top experiences while visiting Japan, and I can't wait to be back!
As many reviews have said, the WiFi isn't great, however, if you have a WiFi block, then you'll be fine! It was also a wonderful way to disconnect from society for a day.

This Ryokan is slightly away from Yumoto but it is still relatively easy to close the distance by foot, 20 minutes one-way since you walk up the hill, and around 10-15 minutes in the other direction. It's pretty quiet but not too far from the shops and restaurants of Yumoto. The ryokan itself is very neat and stylish, the staff impeccably courteous. We didn't book a room with washroom included to save on cost but there were very few other guests during our stay and they all had private washrooms. So we had the supposed shared onsen all to ourselves. We made use of it several times a day and it was a very pleasant experience. The room we had was also large, very pleasant and stylish. All around we had great ryokan experience.
Probably because the inn wasn't full, there was no on-site restaurant open, so we had to take our breakfast outside. But there was a resort down the street with a big restaurant we were allowed in, and a great konbini next to it. If we walked a bit further down into the town we also had a choice of a number of great cafes with famous mochis and other specialties.

Amazing hospitality, greeted warmly and attentively always. They had treats ready for our toddler at check in and check out! English was good and communication through the app was responsive. Very large room (multiple spaces, with the large sleeping room and adjacent changing room and small sitting room), en suite toilet and shower, and wonderful semi outdoor private bath. (I say semi because it was very enclosed, but there was a bit of sky and bamboo growing next to it.) Comfortable beds and cozy comforters and pillows. A little far from the train station, and uphill, but still very walkable. Near a lovely river and in a very pretty area away from the main part of town which provides a lot of peace and quiet. The Kaiseki dinner was phenomenal, one of our favorite meals. They went above and beyond providing a special meal for our toddler, including dessert (it was served beautifully like our meals were). The Japanese breakfast was amazing as well. We loved the traditional rooms and atmosphere, and the yukata robes were a wonderful touch.
I was worried because the particular photos of the round bath looked a little dingy, but it was very clean, just had some hard water due to the minerals in the hot spring water, this might bother some. Mistakenly we did not plan enough time at the accommodations - we arrived in the evening- if I had it to do over I would check in earlier to make the most of our stay!

We stayed at Hotel Yushintei in June. It is a 20 minute walk up a slight hill from the station, or a 5 minute taxi ride. We booked the Japanese-Style Family Room with Open-Air Bath (Private onsen). It was absolutely perfect! It gave us a taste of a traditional Japanese small ryokan. The private onsen was worth every penny! The staff were very helpful. We managed to communicate in English, and the occasional time we needed help (to chase a delayed taxi), Google Translate was easily used by both parties. We deliberately didn’t book any breakfast or dinner as we prefer a more western diet, and so ate at Hakone Pizza, Yakiniku Suehiro (grilled meat BBQ) and then Cafe Renoir, by the station, for breakfast. The hotel was very clean. Highly recommended, and a great experience if you want a more ‘traditional’ Japanese experience.
Nothing - everything was excellent

We loved everything about it. The cleanliness, the onsen was absolutely gorgeous with 2 pools- indoor and outdoor. They were private and we used it 3 times during our stay. I asked for a vegetarian kaiseki dinner and the chef did an outstanding job of creating an elaborate dinner with no meat, no fish, and it must have been hard as it is an unusual request. That was the best part for me. There is a stream running by the place that you can hear in the room - lovely and idyllic. The staff was very very nice and helpful. Its a little away from the station, but nothing that a short taxi ride cannot solve.

We loved our stay at Yushintei. My boyfriend and I were staying in Hakone for one night between Kyoto and Tokyo and we wish we had stayed for longer. We really enjoyed the private onsen, the room was really charming. I thought that the futon beds were so comfortable, I slept so well! The location is very handy at night. Be warned that many places close quite early so it can be tricky to find food. We did not mind because we had eaten a lot on other nights of the trip so went in with the intention of just having a convenience store picnic (there's a few within walking distance)
We liked everything but for transparency's sake we did not have any meals here and we didn't use the public onsen, so we cannot review those. Only one socket in our bedroom worked as well, which was a little annoying for charging our devices but we managed.

The reception and kindness, the atmosphere, the amenities, the little gifts, the helpfulness with luggage / taxi, bed comfort, private room onsen was amazing, so were the other ones available. I wish we stayed at least 3 more days.
The outer bathroom door didn't fully close. The fact you have to descend quite a bit by steps when you get off the bus, which we didn't know and then we carried a lot of luggage. I would suggest luggage forwarding and going to the mountains first before going here due to the fact that it takes around 20 minutes walking to get to the station.

Everything was perfect. Our traditional room was massive, with comfy beds and a nice outdoor corner for tea. We booked the room with a private outdoor onsen and it was absolutely worth it. The hotel also has 2 communal onsen areas which you can reserve for personal use. We booked ours for 40min and it was extremely relaxing. Both the traditional dinner and breakfast were excellent, and the staff very meticulous and helpful. The whole experience was definitely worth the price.
Nothing, would return tomorrow if I could!

The facility is old but that is part of the charm. The dinner and breakfast are very delicious. It's great to have a private onsen. Room is spacious and the staffs are very friendly and helpful.

Fantastic hospitality, incredible kaiseki meals (we had breakfast and dinners). It's a small traditional Ryokan with 8 guest rooms, so the room only has a toilet and sink. To shower and bathe you use the traditional Japanese bath area, one for men and the other for women. A memorable experience. Room for improvement: the futon style mattress is VERY firm. And some interior finishes such as the wallpaper and tatami mat edges would benefit from replacement. But this is a historical Ryokan building so don't expect everything to be new and modern. The fantastic hospitality and meals are the most important thing if you stay here. Two people in our group had tattoos, it was not a problem using the hotel's communal bath. Also this Ryokan is located near the Tenzan Onsen. The Ryokan is a 15-20 minute walk to Hakone-Yumoto train station. Also is near bus line "K" which goes to the lake.
Room for improvement: the futon style mattress is VERY firm. And some interior finishes such as the wallpaper and tatami mat edges would benefit from replacement.
