The staff is composed of some of the most lovely people I've ever met, especially the nice lady that prepared our meals in the room (as per the kaiseki hotel tradition) has been wonderful! The dinner was incredible, as was the stay in general. The room had a gorgeous view of the river and the private onsen you can book with a little surcharge was magical! The Ryokan has a truly nostalgic vibe that was exactly what I was looking for in my stay.

The rooms are in the traditional style, with tatami mats as flooring. Though beautiful, it's worth noting that they have a distinct odor of hay that I personally loved but my partner found it a bit strong.

Fantastic hotel. Amazing staff. exceptional location on the river and with traditional Japanese room. Comfy futon beds and incredible dinner and breakfast. The private onsen we could book as a part of our stay was the highlight ! Highly recommend. We are so glad we chose to stay here. Bus right outside the hotel and close to the station (only 2 stops on the bus). Free beer every afternoon!

Our only thing is that if you like a sleep in, beds are folded up to prepare breakfast at 8am latest. Then put away for the rest of the day - which isn’t convenient if you’d like to nap etc. But ultimately a wonderful experience.

Breakfast & Dinner were superb. The staff were very friendly, helpful, attentive and were very nice and very efficient. Staff who served the meals took time to identify each of the dishes served at dinner, which helps us appreciate the meal more. Check-in process was smooth and easy. The 'schedule' we have planned helped with planning our daily activities during our stay. Though the staff did not speak English, they have a translator app in their phone to communicate. When checking out, we were surprised that that lady took our luggage to the bus stop outside the ryokan. Something we did not expect at all and was very delighted.

What an incredible experience and stay! We absolutely loved the room with its authentic charm - tatami mats, futons, low table, yukatas. We opted to get a room with private onsen tub - while a bit pricey, so magical. Sitting in the onsen with the sound of the roaring river nearby was pure bliss. The food prepared was also so tasty and unique! I would caution that if you aren't adventurous with food maybe this isn't the place for you. We loved the meals as we got to try so many different things and flavors. Not even sure what all I ate but it was good!!

Wonderful stay, but maybe just a tad expensive. Not sure the private onsen tub was totally worth the price we paid - especially since the water is so hot and you can only soak for a few minutes at a time. Next time I could probably just do the public onsen (or rent the private pools for ~45mins).

Everything ! The place is lovely! The location is great, easy to reach and easy to move around the Hakone-Ashi lac area, and the onsen view and terasse on the river are fantastic ! The rooms are typical and we loved the tatami floor, low tables and futon's bed, beautiful . The diner was composed of several courses, with a lot of different flavors (lots of fish) , excellent to try japanese dishes. Plus, the staff was super nice, very kind and helpfull. Basically, a prefect stay, out of the crowed , peaceful, everything we were lokking for. We loved it.

This ryokan has terrific food, beautiful views, onsens overlooking the river and a very relaxing vibe. We were given house kimonos to wear in the hotel, and to the onsen. All the Japanese staying at the ryokan also wore them and it added to the comfortable, relaxing atmosphere. I can't recommend this ryokan more for anyone seeking a traditional Japanese experience in an exceptionally beautiful part of Japan.

The onsen are GREAT. Rooms are traditional and the view to the river was amazing. Hearing the river at night was super relaxing.

They are super strict with time sometimes, and given that the room is japanese traditional we were left after breakfast super tired and without beds (they retire them as soon as you wake up). That makes it impossible to rest a little or have a short nap in the room after a bath.

location was awesome, staff was awesome. not everyone was speaking english but this didn’t stop us having an awesome experience. food was also amazing. room was heated prior our arrival and we had everything we needed. honestly, one of the best experiences we had in Japan! was not difficult to get there either. the outside onsen across the bridge was amazing.

The room was great with everything we needed and the service was impeccable. The bath was wonderful and both the dinner and breakfast were delicious. The ryokan is only a few bus stops away from Hakone-Yumoto station.

While the breakfast was delicious, it also was a bit too copious. If you're not used to it it may be a bit difficult to eat.

Location is nice. You can catch a bus to the ryokan from the train station or you can grab a taxi which costs about 600 yen. The staff, food, room and overall facility were all fantastic. You can also book a private outdoor onsen which costs 2000 yen but is well worth it. The only thing I thought was a shame was the short 45 minutes they give you for the session. The staff doesn't have the best English but they have English manuals and the front of house staff seemed like they are well experienced with hosting foreign guests. They also assisted me with transport when I was checking out and they were extremely accommodating to provide help.

One of the door to the outside balcony was broken and didn't slide properly. Wasn't a huge problem as you can just use the other door.
