Great location if you cannot walk far. Everything you need is close by, trains, buses, taxis, shops, cafes and restaurants in the huge station building with plenty of escalators and lifts. Staff were lovely. Did not eat in the hotel as it was pricey. The swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna was £5 extra but clean and calm. Quiet corridors, slept well. Big window, air con.

There were no free lounges to sit in and watch the sunset on the side of the hotel overlooking town, all spaces were taken by restaurants and cafes. There were no veggie food options. But the station was better and literally on the doorstep.

The room was extremely comfortable, the beds, sheets and pillows, the bathroom, the amenities, the size of the room is perfect and the location too.

Two things caused me some discomfort, they were minor things but could affect other people: because the hotel was very close to the metro station, there was always a little noise from the trains arriving, but I think this was only the apartments facing the back. Another thing, was the distance from the elevator to the apartment. However, there was a fire escape very close to the apartment which was good.

The rooms were spacious but the beds were incredibly uncomfortable, extremely hard which we have found in a lot of the Japanese hotels. We asked reception for some tea bags for the room as we only got coffee sachets & they wanted to charge us 1000yen $10 a teabag when our room was $600 a night with no breakfast. It's in a fantastic position, the foyer area is lovely & dining areas but the rooms are dating. Our floor had lots of stains on it. Overall the position of this hotel is the biggest bonus right at the railway station so very convenient for travel but feels quite impersonal probably due to its size.

Ultra modern facility posing as a grand yesteryear hotel complete with bellhops with no brim cap on. Everyone was eager to please and I was wanting to do the right thing considering the reasonable price I would have easily thought this five star luxury would have been double or triple the price I had a view of the Kyoto Tower from my bed

Coming in on the Haruka line train from Kansai airport the directions were misleading, and we wind up walking the entire train station to find the entrance to the hotel. When in reality, the main entrance was on the second floor up one escalator on the side of the north entrance to the train station once we discover that it was smooth sailing for the four days we stayed some signage would’ve been nice.

The location of the hotel is par excellence! Right on Kyoto station which makes travelling around super easy. The property is very good with beautiful and comfortable rooms , lots of restaurants to choose from, a helpful concierge desk and great breakfast. The Manager was supportive and allowed me a complimentary early checkin and late checkout and this makes a lot of difference to a tired traveller!

The hotel had no first aid provision. There was no antiseptic liquid or cream available at night which was a bit strange for a big hotel! The staff barely spoke English. Time to invest in their language skills if they have to deal with tourists.

The room layout was very nice. (We upgraded to a junior suite king room.) The hotel location at the central train station is very convenient. We really liked the breakfast buffet at le Temps. (Japanese omelettes, various types of smoked fish, and fruit juices. Good bread and croissants too.) The concierge staff was extremely helpful. I needed to replace some hearing aid batteries and they helped me find a local department store that had them. I was so thrilled to get them that I left my iPhone at the cashier when paying for them. The concierge staff then helped me deal with the department store lost and found to get that back too. They were also helpful in explaining how to use the Kyoto subway system to visit tourist sites including the Arashiyama bamboo forest, snow monkeys, the Nijo castle, the Philosphers walk and various temples.

Bumping down the long stairway with all of our luggage to get to the main lobby of the hotel from the train station.

If convenience had a name, it would be this hotel! 🏨✨ Sitting right above Kyoto Station, I had JR lines and the Shinkansen literally at my doorstep — hopping over to Tokyo for my next adventure was effortless. 🚄💨 Mornings here were a dream thanks to the incredible breakfast buffet — from fluffy Western-style pastries to beautifully prepared Japanese dishes, I was spoiled for choice. Check-in was a breeze with Seike at the front desk, who was so polite and well-spoken that I instantly felt at home. And the best part? My room came with a postcard-perfect view of Kyoto Tower, glowing against the city skyline. Absolutely magical! 🌆❤️

The location is very efficient for train, bus and metro access. There are also plenty of eating (and general shopping) options of all descriptions in the Porta and Isetan facilities in the station. The station itself is architecturally interesting and provides great viewing options over Kyoto. The hotel was easy to locate within the station complex and the staff were very efficient, friendly and helpful. An added bonus was being provided with a daily English language edition of a quality Japanese newspaper, which included both local and international news. Our room was spacious, super clean and efficiently designed. There was plenty of room to store things and to spread out. Facilities for making tea and coffee and a fridge made it easy to have a fruit and yoghurt breakfast in our room when we wanted to. Otpions like that are important on longer trips. We ended up staying six nights instead of four and the location made it easy to use as a base for day trips from Kyoto. We have previously stayed in Kyoto at a hotel located further away from the station and closer to the covered markets. That was delightful and more charming in an "old Kyoto" way. Location really comes down to a choice between charm with more walking required, and efficiency with convenience. The choice of excellent quality hotels in both locations is wide.

The shower/bath set-up was inconvenient. The shower was a hand-held model over the bath, but the fixed points for the shower head were either much too high (unless one is very tall) or much too low. This comment should be seen as minor in relation to the overall quality of the hotel's offering, and may not be the case in all rooms.

Located in the main Kyoto station, so connections to Osaka KIX limited train and Nagoya Shinkansen were effortless. Local trains all connect into this station. We weren't in Kyoto long so chose that convenience over staying in the historic area. Staff were efficient and very helpful. Besides the mall in the train station, which is huge, there is an underground mall with tons of restaurants just next to the train station. Also a 7-11 right outside hotel entrance : ) Taxis are always available just outside the hotel. Convenient to Fushimi Inari and south-west sights in Kyoto like Kiyomizu-dera. Room and bathroom sizes were generous.

The train station is so large it took awhile to find the hotel after arriving The hotel is also large so it can take a little time to walk to the room.

I’ve stayed here before and it’s exactly as I remember it - beautiful, well located, and the service is impeccable especially the knowledge and responsiveness of the concierge for restaurant reservations and recommendations. Being located at Kyoto station means you’re well connected to the rest of Kyoto as well as other cities for day trips. Will stay here again next time I am in Kyoto.

A minor point but the bathroom in my room was quite dated, with the shower in a bath that only had a thin shower curtain cover which meant water consistently sprayed onto the bathroom floor. Might have just been the room I booked.
