They had a great selection of extra services (snacks and coffee times in the lobby). The breakfast was very good. The onsen was rather small but also not very frequented, so it was never crowded. The hotel is a very nice place. I definitely recommend it.

There could have been more washing machines. One needed to wait quite long and was not so flexible when wanting to do laundry.

Fantastic stay! The location couldn’t be better—close to everything yet quiet at night. The beds were exceptionally comfy and we all slept great. The bath was spotless with great water pressure and plenty of hot water. Overall comfort was excellent, with thoughtful touches throughout. The amenities were exactly as described (and then some), making the whole experience easy and enjoyable. Would happily stay again!

The only downside was the internet connectivity in our room—it was weak enough that I had to step into the elevator hall to get a reliable signal. If this gets addressed (perhaps with a router reposition or extender), it would be perfect. Would still happily stay again!

This hotel tick off most of my dream hotel request: - Fair price - has Hot commnunal bath (same as onsen) - Big room space ( twin room seems to be bigger than double room) - Friendly staff - 2x massage chairs - Hotel breakfast are nice and delicious, bit on pricey 2750 yen/day but very worth to try. We were full balance and feel energised - flow drink and snack bars - nice decor with ryokan japanese style- feel super cozy - there are Lawson, 7 eleven and family 5-10mins walk away. - Nishiki market is 9mins walk but I found the market to be more ex than Kuromon in Osaka, the only special thing is the mix chilli oil furikake.

location: it tuck away in a small street so it is a 10mins to the nearest station. If you travelling from Osaka, get the Hankyu line to Karasuma station exit 24 there will be a elevator so you no need to carry heavy luggages

Stayed here for a few nights in Kyoto. The hotel itself is beautiful and peaceful, tucked away in a quiet little alley, yet only about a 10–15 minute walk to the city center — a perfect balance between convenience and tranquility. The rooms were spotless and well-designed, and there’s even a Chinese-speaking staff member at the front desk, which was very helpful. I also loved that they offered free sparkling water and coffee — the soda water was especially good, with strong bubbles!

However, there were a few things that disappointed me. At check-in, the staff mentioned an extra per-night tax, saying all hotels in Japan have it — but none of my other stays charged that, and it wasn’t shown in my booking info, which felt misleading. Also, the hotel offers almost no complimentary snacks or food, despite implying that guests can “help themselves.” There’s only a small indoor onsen, no outdoor bath. Housekeeping was rather average, not quite up to the price point of the stay.

Maybe I didn’t pay attention during booking, but it exceeded my expectations! So many services are available for free like coffee and smoothies before breakfast, then afternoon tea with lots of sweet treats, wine and even late snacks and rice with many toppings. Sparkling wine for breakfast. Hot bath (communal bath) included, nice experience. Massage chairs, lots of amenities. Friendly staff, good location. If I ever return to Kyoto I will stay here again 100%. Also a small library at the lobby was so cute, my kid loved some books and they were fun even without knowing the language, had to find and buy them afterwards :)

No view, but we didn’t care at all. Other things are great.

Where to start, we absolutely loved this hotel! We ended up spending more time in the hotel than planned as our 2 year old was teething so she didn't eat or sleep well and was tired and hungry and we had to cancel quite a lot of sightseeing and stay in. The room was excellent, breakfast full of choice (even for a dairy free toddler), and the evening light meal was great as dinner for a fussy little child. Coffee during the day was a life saver as was the onsen (they provide tattoo stickers too!) Location was good, close to Nishiki Market and some other spots but also close to the public transport that can get you anywhere you need to go. Honestly, we plan to go back to Japan and if we go to Kyoto, we are booking this hotel again!

Possibly the time it took us to get our clothes washed or use the massage chairs, but that is not down to the hotel but to the amount of people staying.

Loved the area, close to train station, markets and shops but in a quiet neighbourhood street. Our windows were blocked out for privacy, but we still had plenty of light. Room and bathroom was spacious and clean. We spent most of our time exploring Kyoto, so didn't have the chance to enjoy much of what the hotel offered. But we loved the complimentary massage chairs and toiletries and coffee.

The laundry system was my only issue with the hotel. There was only 2 washer/dryer machines and they were constantly used or had people lining up to wait for it. It didn't dry clothes well so people were not thoughtful and just kept the machines for themselves for hours at a time. I was desperate to use it one night and waited from 10pm to 2am but it was never free. Had to go to a public laundromat which also had a line.

A dream of a place . Fabulous room with a bathroom and separate toilet which helped with 3 in our room . Large bath rather than the short deep tub I’ve had in other rooms! Provision of necessities such as tooth brush. Washing machine was combined with drier making it easier to get a load done . Access to lounge with drinks during the day and great option of snacks late afternoon onwards. Walking distance to huge number of quirky little shops and restaurants as well as large department stores.

Couldn’t open the window so got a bit hot at times.

The lounge is on the 1st floor is open all day, offering drinks and snacks throughout the night. The happy hour is free, including wines and cocktails. The public bath is great and love the breakfast buffet.

There are only 2 washers for laundry for the entire hotel guests. In addition, one day we were sitting at a table in the lounge, a staff member spoke to all the rest guests in Japanese or English about the happy hour was ending and asked if they would like anything else, except us. Not sure if it was our race/ethnicity or anything, apparently we understand English and he just skipped us and ignored us. By overall we enjoyed our stay.

Hotel Intergate was an excellent hotel for multiple reasons. I chose it largely for its location which was very near to the central (Shijo) subway lines, and within walking or cross-subway distance to the East side of Kyoto (across the Kamo River), as well as a block from the Nishiki market and one subway stop from Nijo Castle. The accomodations are very good, its rates reasonable, and the ongoing food presentation from its manifold and excellent breakfasts to the variety of late-afternoon thru evening free food-and-drink provisions make it a fine place to return to and relax after a day of sightseeing. Its staff its courteous and helpful. Excellent choice.
