This was by far one of the most lovely and exquisite hotel rooms we've stayed in. The small zen garden and tatami area were absolutely beautiful. It was a joy to return to the space at the end of each day. The room was very spacious (about the size of a small apartment) and comfortable. The hotel overall was lovely, and the reception desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was excellent - on a quieter street away from the busy areas, yet within a 10-15-minute walk to the city centre and many historic sites. We definitely plan to stay at Rinn Gion Kenninji Villa again next time we visit Kyoto.

We wish there had been better communication about the rules for changing towels and emptying the trash bin. Also, when a staff member did eventually enter the room to empty the trash, it seemed to have been done in a hasty manner. The price is a bit on a high side for a one-week stay.

The location. The rooms were spacious. Some nice extra features like the indoor garden. Having the fire stick TV first time had that available to us in Japan. Good security.

The late 4pm checkin. We had travelled from Hiroshima that day and a couple in our party of 11 were very unwell and just needed to lay down go to bed and they would not allow an earlier checkin under any circumstances. In my opinion 4 pm is too late a checkin for people who are travelling. The rooms had already been cleaned and ready for occupancy as I had to attend to check that the bedding arrangements were correct for our party.

Great location in Gion. Could walk to several temples and shrines, the downtown area, ponto-cho and metro stations. Seven-Eleven and Lawson's were near by along with many family-run restaurants. The room itself was very spacious and quiet and the lighting was great.

It wasn't a big deal but it would have been nice to have somewhere to dispose of our garbage along with some dish soap to wash mugs out since room cleaning was only done on the 3rd day of our stay. But those were minor inconveniences and overall, we were very pleased with the room. We'd happily stay here again.

Great location, near all the conveniences but in a quieter back street. Room size was fantastic, big bed (in between queen and king size), great large bathroom and shower. Perfect for our family of 4, with 2 teenagers in single futon mattresses. Very new, modern, clean with all the amenities provided. Room had microwave, fridge and tea/coffee making facilities (pod coffee machine) and Netflix connectivity.

No breakfast provided and no on-site cafe/restaurant. Breakfast cafes very hard to come by in the area, particularly over public holidays. No washing machine or Laundromat.

Amazing Villa in an incredible area. Great location, perfect for sightseeing and close to transportation. It was perfect for our family of 4 adults - loved the amenities provided and layout of room. Very spacious. Very friendly reception staff who helped us with our luggage forwarding. Would not hesitate to recommend for other families and would definitely stay here again. Nothing at all

An absolute find this place! In all aspects, this hotel/villa surpassed our expectations. This is the best location to stay in Kyoto without a doubt! Walking distance to everything you could possibly want to visit, right in the Gion district but miraculously escaping the crowded roads! Less than 10 minute walk to stations that will take you anywhere. To top up the location we got an immaculately clean and very well maintained room/apartment, spacious (we were a family of 4 and our two children are young adults), bright and airy. The staff is incredibly friendly, flexible and efficient. Super organised with storing luggage on arrival and/or departure should you arrive early or leave later. Organised our bags to be transported to the next accommodation in a super efficient way. Thank you to all at Rinn Gion Kenningi Villa, we absolutely loved staying with you and will come back!!

Can't beat perfection!

Loved the room! It was a perfect Japanese style room with a tatami area and small garden area. Loved the sliding door private entry, it was like entering our own little home, ryokan style! The location was central to train stations and the shopping district close proximity to eating places as well. Staff was extremely polite and professional.

The futon was a little thin to be a futon. We were able to double it and had someone sleep on the sofa.

Great location in the heart of Gion. Our room was very comfortable, especially the beds. It was nice to have the extra space.

It's more airbnb than hotel. They do not clean the rooms, but guests can request items to be replaced. On our first day, even though we requested, nothing was replaced. They took care of it quickly and there were no more issues for the rest of our 5-night stay

Fantastic location in the Gion district. We loved being so close to all directions. Trains super close and convenience stores too. Loved the wander to the nearby shrines and the gorgeous streets of Gion. And only 5 minutes walk over to downtown Kyoto. Room was modern, simple, clean and comfortable for our family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers. It felt very safe too. Nice and quiet. Would definitely stay again.

Floor mattress a little uncomfortable for my 15 year old son but not a big issue.

Great location right next to Kenninji temple which is fabulous temple to visit in any case. Easy walking distance to historical Gion area and Hanamidori street, as well as other famous temples such as Kiyomizudeta and Kodaiji amongst others. Room is spacious, spotllessly clean and in quiet neighbourhood.

Only small negative was the fact that the laundry was only in Rinn Gion Kenninji which was few doors down from Rinn Gion Kenninji Villa where we stayed. However we were able to start the laundry and ask the staff to take the dried clothes back to our Villa without having to come back from our planned day which was very helpful
