The location was outstanding. Once you hit the streets, you are surrounded by shops, food, and transportation options. We did not try the hotel breakfast, as the food all around the hotel has less expensive options.

The living space was small and I had to crawl in and out of the bed which fit across the entire wall. More space to hang clothes would have been nice, but we managed just fine.

The location of this charming hotel was superb. Intimate feel with Beautiful decor with Japanese feel, yet all the modern touches necessary. Lounge/lobby was wonderful to hang out in, breakfasts absolutely excellent. Hot pool/bath was a huge bonus. Staff lovely!

Only drawback was the king-sized room (very small) offers almost no space to put your luggage, no surface space to place your things. Had to crawl over each other in room to get anything, get ready, etc. Hanging bars for clothes minimal and not very functional. It would be helpful if they at least added more hooks on the wall for clothes, backpacks, hats. Maybe a double room is better?

Fabulous location in Gion. Staff generally helpful and friendly. Onsen is lovely. Breakfast buffet is excellent with a variety of food options.

Room was very small and while this was not unexpected, there was very little space for luggage (we ended up storing bags in the shower recess and using the onsen facilities for washing and showering). The mattress on the bed was awful (sagging in the middle), and the small lounge was very uncomfortable. These are small things, but for the price paid to stay here, I expected better.

Great location, just steps from Gion’s main hustle n bustle. Small and personal, easy to get in and out of. Jay (front desk/bartender) was amazing! Incredibly helpful and a pleasure to speak with. We enjoyed their intimate whiskey bar and appreciated the complimentary toiletries and snacks. The Onsen was nice. The property was quiet.

The laundry room if you can call it that. 2 washer/dryers. The dryers took 3 cycles and our clothes were still pretty damp. As far as the washer, IDK if it was energy saving but my clothes had a funky smell after washing. Our room was tiny! No place for two people to open luggage. No closets and no drawers. Just a few hangers. So our room was a mess.

Very good location in the gion district. Comfortable and clean room. Nice decor and plenty of amenities. Very responsive staff, both before and during our stay.

The room we booked was a little tired and so we moved to a Japanese-style double instead which was much better. The hotel is a chain and you can feel this - for example with the breakfast which provided a good selection but was quite standard/not always cooked well. There is no daily cleaning service in the room for environmental reasons, but fresh towels, plastic water bottles and bin bags are left outside your room every day whether needed or not, which made it feel like this was more for a cost cutting than environmental reason. More expensive than other places we stayed in Japan that we preferred.

The hotel is right in the center of the charming part of Kyoto yet the room was super quiet (I have a sleep disorder). Everything was very modern and well maintained. The staff was unbelievably accommodating and efficient and they provide pretty much anything you'd need from razors to loofas if you forgot your bags. They also provided an awesome selection of tea.

The room was super small. I live in Paris so I am used to small rooms but this was really small. The huge and super comfortable bed took up nearly all the space. No exaggeration. It's okay for one person on a couple nights stay but anything more would be difficult. Of note, I chose the least expensive option so maybe there are bigger rooms available. Other than the size, it was great.

Fantastic hotel all round. The location is great - so close to the Gion Shijo station, Gion and there are endless restaurant choices around. The staff were so lovely and accommodating, we ended up extending our stay and they were able to keep us in the same room which was fantastic. Our basement room had a lovely view of the garden, we chose the premier king room and the bed was absolutely enormous - amazing! The breakfast buffet has plenty of western and Japanese options, they change things every other day so you don't get sick of it.

It was very warm in the room and building - too warm for our comfort. We were able to adjust this in our room but were a little uncomfortable at breakfast/the bar. Not a major issue and certainly better than being cold!

Excellent location in the Gion part of Kyoto; a beautiful, stylish Hotel, with great facilities, such as a spa (onsen) open from 6am, every day, with a large pool. The Hotel also provides a fridge, and a cattle in every room, and a microwave and ice machine in the lobby area, as well as free coffee, snacks and beauty products! There is a bar as well (also in the lobby). The staff is incredibly kind and helpful at the reception, and on every floor, distributing fresh towels and bottled water every day to every room, and collecting rubbish. Free slippers are also provided to go to the spa (onsen).

The 'pajamas' provided for going to the spa are very uncomfortable, and useless. The bottoms open every second, it's embarrassing! It would be truly better if traditional Japanese Yukatans were supplied to go to the spa, not these uncomfortable 'pajamas'! Other than that - everything is excellent in this hotel!

The hotel is very nice; room was clean, although a bit small after a few days. Public bath was lovely; staff was great. Great value for money and nice location. It's a block from the very bustling area, but felt mellow at the hotel. But at night it was quiet; incredibly effective blackout curtains.

Room was quite small, especially after a few days. Hotel lobby was nice, but vibe felt a little Western (for instance, there is American indie-folk playing in the lobby). There was a lot of door banging in the morning (I think it was staff cleaning rooms, but would have been better if they just propped the doors...). You have to crawl across the bed to access individual light switches.

Location in the city, lobby and decor, bed very comfortable, good snacks and coffee around the hotel. Bath was beautiful.

Rooms were very small for the price, we had very little room to put our two small suitcases anywhere and there were no shelves or wardrobes. They also only cleaned the room once in five nights. The bathroom had nowhere to hang towels and no soundproofing, only a very small flimsy sliding door. We also did not like the street the hotel was on because it was very busy with cars and had no real sidewalks so we were nearly hit by bikes and cars many times. The breakfast was good, but I found the cooked food was quite cold despite being on hot plates.
