I had an outstanding experience at Sauna and Capsule Hotel Rumor Plaza. From the moment I arrived, everything was seamless. The hotel is immaculately clean, thoughtfully organized, and modern in both design and amenities. Every detail, from the check-in process to the well-maintained common areas, reflects care and professionalism. The capsules themselves were surprisingly comfortable, offering both privacy and a cozy atmosphere. I was impressed with how quiet and restful the space felt despite being in the heart of the city. The real highlight, though, was the 24-hour sauna—absolutely fantastic. It was clean, relaxing, and exactly what I needed after a long day. The ability to use the sauna any time, day or night, made the experience feel incredibly luxurious. Another great perk? The free breakfast, which was well worth it. It was fresh, satisfying, and a perfect way to start the day. Overall, Rumor Plaza exceeded all my expectations. Whether you’re looking for a unique, relaxing stay or just a reliable, comfortable place to rest, I would highly recommend this hotel. I would absolutely stay here again—it’s a true hidden gem.

Very clean. Staff was very nice. Plenty of pools and saunas. Free water every day. Breakfast was good. Fantastic location.

Rules are fairly simple when you’ve learned them. When you come in put shoes in locker and give them shoe key + paper (will get after check-in) for locker key. When you leave exchange locker key for shoe key + paper. Wear pajamas if going to other floors. Wear the brown slippers only in the elevator areas, on 6F you’ll place them in a shelf and clip them with a number. Normal bath/onsen rules. The only rule I’d take away is the interacting with front desk every time you want to leave. Exchanging the shoe key for locker key seems like a waste of time and effort. Normal capsule hotel issues (loud sleepers, capsules get a little stuffy) I didn’t have a top bunk but they looked hard to get into/out of. Only other complaint is the steps in the bath area are VERY slippery.

The individual capsule, public shower (adjacent to the locker room) and locker room itself are all good. The breakfast and public bath (pools and sauna) were just excellent! Great choice for travelers who want to spare some budget and have a place to stay in the centre of Kyoto!

It would be great to have a washing and drying machine at the hotel. Still, you can use the coin laundry about 600 m away from the hotel. That is not a deal-breaker, but good to know beforehand. Otherwise, everything was perfect!

If i can rate it 20/10 i would. Not a fan of capsule hotel but this one is surprisingly comfy. Stayed here for the sauna. Did not expect it to be so big and a commercial 3-levels super sento. Sauna is open 24hrs. They have all the toiletries you need and more. Once you understand how things work this place is magic. Staff all very nice. Breakfast spread is great (only japanese food tho). I will return to kyoto just for this place. Location is centered in gion. Very clean very proper. Best sauna in japan (based on my limited experience)

I didn't like that I spent so much time in the sauna day & night that I skipped exploring the city. Even when im out all i think about is going back to the sauna 😂 Oh and the locker space is too small. No space to work so i just set up in the dining area.

The place is EXTREMELY clean and comfortable, but the best of the best was the incredible people at reception (ALL of them so sweet). Jacuzzis soooo nices, I enjoyed too much. Nice environment. I am sorry because i wasn't polite as Japanese standard. Breakfast delicious. Is absolutely a10 stars stay here. I loke the rule of not tattoos, i am spanish and i still feel uncomfortable watching tattos.

I make effort in find something i don't like but I LOVED EVERYTHING. Was superior than my expectations.

Good amenities, liked the spa and hotel breakfast. Very proaactive and attentive staff. Stored luggage which I sent via Yamato baggage courier for 2 days prior arrival, making the arrival experience even better. Great selection and very traditional breakfast.

Lots of rules involved in entering and exiting, adnd needing to change into pajammass prior (which can be scratchy) when visiting other parts of the hotel. Didnt like the fact that there is only 1 lift working, and had to go to 6th floor before going to lounge etc

1/ Love the location. 2/ Great options of sauna facilities 3/ bedding was as comfortable for a capsule hotel 4/ Breakfast while quite similar daily was decent for a capsule hotel 5/ Polite staff who tried their best to communicate in English 6/ Well staffed and there seems to always be someone cleaning some part of the property

1/ There could be more water points 2/ Compared to another capsule hotel I stayed at in Tokyo, complementary beverage options could have been more 3/ Somewhat strange rules which include wearing of their attire when wanted to take the elevator to the showers/sauna.

The staff are always helpful, the facilities are awesome. It quite honestly exceeded my expectations in many aspects. The check in and out are very smooth. I quite loved it there! There was an exceptionally friendly lady at the reception and unfortunately I didn’t ask her name to praise her here. She was always helpful and kind. With a bit of humor and compassion. I always loved to interact with her. Seeing her would make me smile.

The breakfast time until 9 am is way too early. Some people want to wake up a bit later on vacation and have their breakfast at 9 or even 10. But finishing at 9 is really uncool. Would be great if the hotel management saw this comment and made the right changes.

Great baths, great location, very good breakfast (Japanese style only-though the coffee was good!) and comfortable little pods.

Bigger lockers or better suitcase storage area would be good rather than having to leave your suitcase in the lobby the whole time. Also, can be a little noisy. If your “neighbours” (pretty much anyone in your pod area) make any noise you’ll hear it (eg snoring, alarms, using zippers whilst packing etc) but they’re mostly Japanese guests so generally very respectful.
