The location, located on a side street right in the heart of Gion, easy access to subway stations and bus. The room had a small seating area with a little coffee table and 2 chairs. so was a little larger than all the other hotels we had stayed at so far on this trip. Also laundry in building was convenient and worked well

Everything was good, no complaints. Although nothing to do with the hotel at all but the small restaurant located on the corner of the same building is garbage, with all the places to eat in Gion, avoid this place.

This is a great value for money in a superb location. Despite being right in the midst of Gion it was quiet for sleeping. There are absolutely no frills - really the bare minimum of space for bathroom and beds, no restaurant, and front desk staff only there certain hours - but if you want to save your money for sightseeing and dining as we did you can't do much better. Clean and easy to deal with. A couple tips: you can get breakfast next door at the Granbell for under 2000 yen if you want to eat something other than coffee early in the morning, and get the benefits of a much more expensive hotel without paying for the room there. Also in Japan you can send luggage ahead with various luggage transport services which means you don't have to lug bags on the shinkansen - and the hotel had these brought to our room before we arrived which was great.

It would be nice to have some food options in the morning for breakfast, and the staff wasn't always at the front desk. The bathroom is also only EXACTLY big enough - in fact the sink and bathtub share plumbing. Hard to get dressed in there, for example, if you need privacy from your roommate.

There is not to like. Friendly staff who speak good English. I was able to check in early for no extra cost and managed to get a late check out for 1000 yen. Very convenient location. Umbrellas a bonus as is onsite laundry. Unfortunately they are booked out when I return to Kyoto at the end of the year. Very quiet especially considering location. Loved being able to hear temple bell early in the morning. The gyoza bar next door is a must as is the tiny yakatori bar around the corner.

Room would have been small for two people staying more than a few days but a problem, just worth considering.

- Very clean - Good facilities: lovely warm toilet, microwave oven, washing and drying machines (coins only) + shower gel, shampoo and hair conditioner were provided (i liked the POLA honey shampoo and hair conditioner, and the lovely smell of the shower gel very much!! <3 I wanted to buy some and bring them home!!) - Good location: close proximity to convenient stores, restaurants and a lot of shops selling souvenirs - Good service: 1) We arrived later than the regular check-in time by mistake but upon prior agreement, we were still accepted. (To the receptionist girl who received us: Many many thanks for your kind help!! We would also like to sincerely apologize for disturbing your sleep! >.< ) 2) Another employee was helping other guests and us to solve the laundry issues. He even offered to have our clothes hanging somewhere if they were not dried well by the drying machines. ^u^ - Additional mirror in the room

- The room would be perfect if its size was bigger. :P

The manager Mr Kawasaki was super nice!!! He hurried his staff to enable us to check in early & didn't charge us at all while my earlier 2 hotels charged us for early check in :) Furthermore, he let us take the umbrellas we took to see the matsuri festival with us when we checked out of the hotel :) We were so touched by his gesture that we came back 2 days later from Osaka with gifts for him & the umbrellas too :) Besides, the hotel was super cold that was just great in the summer heat !!! We like the environmental friendly gestures with the recycle bins, the double usage of the toilet bowl cum hand washing plus the swing tap for the shower & basin. The room was sufficiently spacious & we like the unusual cloth hanger plus the aircon duct was in the middle of the room.

The bathtub was somewhat small & narrow so was somewhat difficult to shower

Excellent Location. Staff was very nice and helpful. Hotel was in a quite neighborhood and just a couple of minutes walk from the main ( and very crowded) thorough fair. Lot of options to shop and eat. Walkable distance to 2 major train lines. We would stay again.

The room and the bathroom were a bit smaller than I expected, But they were very clean. So, were the other facilities. We would leave in the morning and come back late evening to unwind and sleep. The room served that purpose very well. Also not a big deal, but a phone in the room to reach the front desk or make local calls would have been nice.

Booking this place was one of the best decision I’ve made on my trip to Japan in June. The location was superb: for shopping, it has many local shops, Kawaramachi-dori street (right next to Nishiki Market), and a department store - you can reach there by bus or walk there; for eating, there’s numerous of restaurants nearby, but also a good nigiri place and convenient store for good prices too - also available by foot; for traveling, the streets here are gorgeous and very scenic, you can visit the Yasaka Shrine which is very close by (walking distance). The station makes it easy to travel to near locations like Uji. I can gush about the location all day long lol!! The accommodations were very nice as well. The staffs are very nice and one staff named Arissa (I wrote this review almost a month later so I’m terribly sorry if I got your name wrong!) has assisted my family so much in navigating the transportation modes. The place is very well-organized, with a laundry area where you can wash your clothes there. The room itself is modest in size but still very good for our family - the floor felt a bit damp at times but it doesn’t bother us much since it’s still clean. Thank you for making our Kyoto experience worthwhile and memorable! I hope to visit Kyoto and book here again soon

The property is located very conveniently in the Gion area and close to a subway station and bus stops. The room I booked included a double bed and single, so it could accommodate 3.

The value for this hotel is very good considering the prime location. While I consider this hotel clean, this hotel is not luxurious or new/modern, so if that is important to you, this is not the place for you. The room itself is spacious, but there isn’t a closet or drawers for clothes. There’s 6 hooks on the wall and 4 hangers. The toilet and bathtub/shower are separated which is convenient. However, there is very little space in the bathroom to hang your clothes or place your skincare/cosmetics. An extra shelf of some sort would’ve solved this problem.

- I saw someone on Tik Tok recommend this, and it was a good stay for my first time in Kyoto. Location puts you right in the bustling area of Gion, so it's great if you want to be near Kamo River, walking distance to the shopping areas, and close to the subway station. There's Arashiyama Bamboo Forest and Nijo Castle west, a bunch of shrines east, Fushimi Inari Taisha south (and further transportation towards Uji), and lots of food recommendations north (which felt a bit out of our way for our first stay). Though I was slightly overwhelmed by how crowded it was, the trade off for such a central location was worth it. - Random but I liked how there was a hamper outside our room for dirty towels, which is nice because I feel like damp towels would make the room humid/stuffy. - There's also easy luggage storage before and after checking in/out, and luggage forwarding would have been easy had we needed it. Staff speak English, so it helped a lot! Thank you!

1. A nitpicky detail but when I ran my finger across the window sill, it was mildly dusty, so it made me wonder how well they were vacuuming etc. Otherwise, no complaints about the bathroom, bedding, etc. 2. It was a bit of a tight space for the 3 of us (myself, mother, and brother). There's room to open luggage of course, but don't expect to be walking around. But hey, I just needed a place to sleep, shower, and keep my luggage.

Prime location!!! Everything is right outside the hotel (and yet it was peaceful in the room) or just a few minutes walk - konbini such as 7/11, FamilyMart, train station, bus stop, Miffy's kitchen, and other places like Yasaka Shrine, bars, clubs, Pontocho alley, etc. The staff - Arisa and Kawasaki-san are friendly and nice. The room was big for a solo traveler considering the Japanese standard room and it was clean and quite nice. Also, the bath and toilet were separate, that's just great! They had laundry service and a microwave on the ground floor. I eventually extended my stay here. I will be coming back here again for sure!

There is no good view from the room. But it hardly matters!
