The location was fantastic. We liked being close to busses and trains.

We were staying in rooms 402 and 401. Our kids were in 401 and they had comfortable beds and pillows. My husband and I were in 402 and our mattress should be replaced. There was a sag in the middle and it was quite hard. They had added a small pad on top to help but really, a new mattress was needed. Also, our pillows were quite hard. The other thing is that the curtain on our window kept out very little light. Updating the curtains would help too!

We had a very large room with a huge bathroom. We could easily put our stuff away and still have room to comfortable move around. The bathroom came with a large bath. The location of the hotel is also a big bonus, you can easily walk around Gion at night when the tourists are away and take beautiful pictures. The hotel had a 50's-60's vibe in it's design what was something different but nice from all our other hotels.

A lot of noise could be heard from outside when we went to bed from machines. This was not plesant but it wasn't to much that we couldn't sleep because of it. If you are someone who can't sleep with noise, I would not recommend this hotel. Also the breakfast was Japanese (what we knew in advance), but it wasn't buffet style where you could chose from a variety of Japanese dishes.

VERYYYY SPACIOUSSS!!! The room I got for single occupancy was like triple the size of standard Japanese hotel. I was super impressed by the size of the room with big toilet and big bathroom with jacuzzi!! The room was really clean with beds and sofa and big heater ( I guess during summer it will be AC). The location is 3-5 minutes walk to famous Yasaka Shrine and the distance to famous Ninenzaka and Kiyomosu dera is walkable. Very quiet. No noise at night which is really good. The hotel front desk can communicate in English and very helpful.

Breakfast was a bit small and cold but I didn’t expect much anyway. It was fine for me though it could be improved.

Great Location, very nice front desk person. Close to the Gion-Shijo Station, walking distance to Nishiki Market and easy to get to from Kyoto Station. The rooms are comfortable, the Japanese style tub/shower area was great, large water bottle in the room along with shampoo, conditioner (rinse) and body soap. Everything else is located on a table outside the elevator on the ground level. There are two or three entrances. One is open 24 hours and the others get locked after a certain time. It is right around the corner from a great Takoyaki restaurant and walking distance from a Family Mart. I would definitely stay again.

Absolutely NOTHING bad to say. I would stay here again alone or with my family. Definitely a great place to stay.

Good hotel, clean, Japanese breakfast was very good. Great location at the very traditional Gion area. I was happy, no complaints. I would book it again next time.

Staff at reception was not visible almost at any time. Sometime I wanted to make some quaestions. Not big deal, did not affect my trip at all, since I am a quite independent seasoned traveller. But I think that could be improved.

Breakfast was excellent--traditional Japanese cooking, different and delicious every day. Soaking bath in the bathroom was very nice--like a personal hot tub. Also had a shower. Location couldn't be better: a block off of the main street in Gion. Walking distance to everything: restaurants, nightclubs, temples, kabuki theatre, etc.

Our room was exceptionally spacious, a rarity in Japan, and we fell in love with the charming decor. The bathroom was equally impressive, boasting a luxurious jacuzzi bathtub – truly splendid. The location couldn't have been better, right in the heart of Gion. What amazed us even more was the surprisingly affordable price for such a fantastic experience. Both the accommodation and the neighborhood were simply perfect. I loved every moment of my stay and will definitely be returning.

One drawback was the limited breakfast options, which were exclusively Japanese without any Western choices available. This might be a consideration for travelers preferring a more diverse breakfast selection.

Breakfast had some nice variety and was a good way to start the day. The location was very quiet and further away from the bustle, but felt safe and not super touristy, while also providing easy access to the main street and more of Gion. Really great to have a large bottle of water provided every day as well.

The location was amazing, so close to transport, food options and exploring on foot and the staff were super friendly and helpful. We had two rooms, which were very spacious and comfortable. We loved the traditional buildings of the area we stayed in, much nicer than the newer Kyoto.

Fabulous location! Convenient to Gion area and public transport. Great combination of Western style (beds, amenities) and Japanese style (yukata in room, Japanese breakfast).

Minor issue … Difficult to control room temperature. I woke up and it was pretty warm in my room in the middle of the night.
