We initially were hesitant to book due to the mixed reviews but are SO happy we did! The location could not be better, you are literally on the Main Street in Gion with so much on your door step. The room was massive, the bed was so comfy, the tower and tub were great. There are lots of toiletries included in the room and a complimentary fridge full of drinks. I agree that some features were a little outdated and yes, there are some stains on the carpet in the room but this is minimal compared to everything else it offers. If you are a traveler who is used to luxury and relying on concierge to make a lot of your reservations and making recommendations you might struggle a bit. For the price we paid I thought this hotel was amazing value and are so happy we stayedf!

Our suite was really super beautiful and location is incredibly convenient on the main street in Gion! Breakfast is served in your room at this hotel and it is delicious. At the end of our stay, we asked the hotel to send our luggage back to Tokyo, it was super easy and convenient.

The time window for serving breakfast is a little limited: it was perfect for us (we had it at 8:30 every day) but for anyone who would like to eat breakfast earlier or later it might not work that well. I don’t know if that can be changed because we didn’t need to.

Reading all the reviews, I was wondering but I could tell from the pictures that the ambience was very lovely and it didn't disappoint. We loved our private hot bath. The breakfast was delicious and so Japanese - how can you complain about it- it was everything that Japan is about. We loved eating it in our tatami room. Also, the size of the room was very generous compare to all the places we stayed in! This was the biggest room. So what it had a few stains on the carpet. Also the location was excellent - right next to Gion and buz but the hotel was quiet. So overall we stayed in many places in Japan, and we loved this one the most.

A beautiful suite and lovely boutique feel. The location couldn’t be better in Gion district. The bathroom was awesome and bed excellent. Unexpectedly there was a separate room to meditate and an outdoor rock garden just for the room. I used this location as a base and did daily trips to Nara and Hiroshima.

I didn’t like not having a choice for a western breakfast. I tried the Japanese one the first day but not to my test. It’s such an upscale place it’s surprising I couldn’t get a couple of eggs. I ended eating at Tullys for a small egg sandwich

The hotel was a great location. Staff was very helpful with everything we needed, including finding cars to bring us to the train station w/our luggage. The breakfast was brought to our room and was a wonderful example of a Japanese breakfast. It was quiet and comfortable.

There is not anything that I would change. As I stated the staff was very kind and friendly. Communication was easy. The room was comfortable, the hotel was quiet and the location was good.

Kizashi The Suite was absolutely amazing! The room was perfect with comfortable beds, a gorgeous zen garden, a large wooden soaking tub, and tastefully decorated in tradtional Japanese decor with modern amenities. The location was also perfect in the Gion district within walking distance to many restaurants, Yasaka Shrine, and Kiyomizu Temple. We will definitely stay there again and will book our next trip around our stay at Kizashi!

The room was really spacious, very quiet and tastefully furnished and decorated. We really enjoyed staying there. It was nice to relax in such an enchanting place. The bathroom was magnificent too and amenities were generous and good quality. Breakfast was delicious and they were kind enough to prepare it for us very early in the morning as we had a train to catch.

There had been a misunderstanding at the beginning because they had prepared a room with just one bed although we had booked the Executive room with two beds and two futons. The lady who received us at first was unable to understand and address the problem properly. Thanksfully a junior manager with excellent English came and upgraded us to a room with the right number of beds and did everything he could so that we could feel welcome and confortable. A wonderful stay in the end.

Perfect location, walking distance to many places you would love to see in Kyoto. In the shop on the ground floor you can find many small and cute gifts to bring home from the trip. The room is very spacious and in Japanese style, which is you should be aware prior booking the place. Breakfast served every morning in the room and it is also Japanese breakfast you should be prepared for. Personnel is very welcoming and always ready to assist with any queries. I loved my staying in this small but comfortable hotel. I would recommend everyone who wants to try Japanese style and stay in the middle of Gion. It is an amazing experience.

Well I wish all the guests would be more cautions and don’t leave the stains on the carpets, but it is not something that can screw the impression from the trip :) just a minor thing.

The location was amazing! We had ample space in our 100sqm room with a mix of traditional and western bedding for our family with teenage children. We had a room with a wooden Japanese bath and after a huge walking day, nothing was better than getting into the wooden bath to soak.

If I had to pick one thing, it would be access to English speaking TV i.e a news channel.

Room was very spacious and clean. Staff was also very supportive and very good. Stay was little different as we had the Tatami area and we loved that room.

Location was a little not so great, it was a crowded street. However once you go inside the hotel it is very good. Location is close to many places you can walk by and also close to public transport.
