The location was in a very safe and convenient location. Not only was there a ton of food options near by, but it was very walkable and the area around the inn was very peaceful. I also enjoyed the attentiveness of the staff and how sincere they were. Also, I really appreciate how the doors in the rooms locked! A small detail, but I actually wasn't expecting them to (thinking of something similar to a hostel or capsule), so that was a bonus.

I think this is a great location for solo or younger travelers, since you will need to share bathroom and vanity spaces. I did not really mind this, but could see it being an issue for some. Also, since it is an older building, the walls are thin, so you will hear people walking up and down the stairs and such. Again, not really an issue, but something to keep in mind.

After 12 days in Japan, we had our best night of sleep at the Ito Ryokan. The staff was so friendly and courteous. We checked in late due to our late train from Kyoto and their staff member took the time to go through our room and how to use the bath, set the temp and went through how to use other technological gadgets in our room. We never felt rushed and were quick to feel comfortable in our new room. The bath was exceptional after a long day. The beds were comfortable and we had the best night of sleep. The neighborhood was quiet but close to nearby shopping and restaurants. One more thing I want to mention is that the homemade, traditional Japanese breakfast was amazing! We had the privilege to speak with the chef and another staff members in the morning. All were friendly and knowledgeable about the area and provided suggestions for small business souvenir shops near by for my husband and I to purchase last minute gifts for family and friends. We have decided that on our next trip to Tokyo, we will stay more nights at the Ito Ryokan. Thanks to this incredible team for their exceptional hospitality and wonderful care.

We had the 2 bedroom suite which was perfect for our family. The suite seemed brand new, beautiful, clean, comfortable, quiet and one of the nicest hotel stays we have ever experienced. The Japanese breakfast was fresh, healthy and delicious. Best of all are the staff who are welcoming, kind, enthusiastic, and helpful. The ryokan also offered lessons in Japanese art and culture. We took a samisen lesson and it was so fun and interesting! Finally, this ryokan is close to several metro lines and the TCAT bus station and there are dozens of restaurants in the neighborhood.

Nothing!

Nice, clean room in the annexe with comfortable twin beds in a traditional style, as expected. Modern, spacious bathroom. Quiet location close to subway airport train connections. Friendly welcome upon arrival. Traditional breakfast (fish, rice, soup, small piece of omelette, beansprouts, 1.5 cherry tomatoes) was tasty and nicely presented, although fairly small in quantity- depending upon one's appetite. One pre-books a slot at 8am/08:30/9am.

Nothing as the property was as we expected (i.e. not a large corporate hotel). Note that check-out is on the early side at 10am- not an issue on this occasion.

the property was so warm and welcoming, both in terms of the staff and facilities. very authentic and comfortable bedroom space with everything you need on the same floor or just downstairs - showers, laundry, fresh coffee in the morning. location is ideal, just a short walk away from train stations heading towards Shibuya. lots of restaurants, bars, cafes nearby and a 7/11 just around the corner. there is also a great ramen place recommended by Chikako across the street definitely worth visiting! the owners and staff are so friendly and really make you feel at home, I was staying here for 4 nights before moving to a different hotel and I wish I had booked for longer! Will definitely return when I’m back in Tokyo and could not recommend staying here more.

Clean and big room - very traditional old Japanese style Ryokan; exactly what we have been looking for. Great location too. The staff was fantastic, providing us with tips for the neighbourhood and some interesting Japanese coffee jelly. There is free coffee, tea and water as well at all times. Be sure to reserve breakfast at least a day in advance. We missed it and unfortunately could not get a taste of it (though it looked fantastic).

Nothing really - we may have missed it, but maybe good to mark clearly that breakfast needs to be reserved before ?noon? the day before.

Wonderful and quaint traditional inn, very close to the subway and to many Ningyocho restaurants. We stayed in the Takematsu room (Japanese-style quadruple room) in the original building, which comfortably slept our family of four. The room has a beautiful new private bathroom with a divine soaking tub that was a highlight of our stay. Another was the delicious breakfast that the ryokan offers. The owner and her staff were incredibly gracious and welcoming (and fed us well during our stay!) Although we didn't have time to book any of the activities they can arrange, we got to hear snippets of a shamisen performance, which sounded like a treat. The ryokan also has a lounge with coffee and tea available during the day, which was a welcome spot to pause for a rest during two busy days. We were sorry that our stay was only for two nights at the tail end of our trip; would definitely come again!

The only challenge we had was that the windows in our room did not have shades, and the surrounding street lights are quite bright. This was easily remedied with a sleep mask (and only bothered one in our family), but if you are sensitive to light, it may be a concern.

We loved the fact that this is a family owned Ryokan in the heart of Tokyo that has been in the same family for 70 years. It was very traditional and the staff was lovely and very considerate. We had a traditional breakfast that was very Japanese and slept on some futon. The children had a very spacious room on the first floor and we had a tiny room on the second floor which was not big but it worked for the two of us. The area is not very touristy but lovely made of small older houses which is nice and not something you can easily find in Tokyo.

The showers are on the ground floor which makes it a bit hard but the showers themselves were nice and clean even though shared. The beds which are futon are very traditional so not very comfortable, I was fine but my husband had back pain. It was quite hard to dine out for a family of 5 and I think would recommend on booking prior or getting hotel staff to assist for larger family. I however think it is past of the experience and traditional Japanese culture and really enjoyed it 😊

Ito Ryokan was exceptional to stay at! The staff are so kind and accommodating, I felt taken care of during my stay. The traditional breakfast was delicious and beautifully served, highly recommend adding it to your stay! The rooms are traditional, simple, not big, but everything was very clean and comfortable. The location is great, close to the subway, lots of restaurants, and it’s quiet at night. The subways station will get you to make popular places in Tokyo, and has trains going to Haneda airport. I would love to stay here again!

There was nothing that I disliked about the property

Great location, plenty of delicious restaurants around, friendly and kind staff, amazing en suite shower (adding a picture as it was missing from the site when we booked, and it was the one thing we weren't sure about), Paspa smoking area 1 min away, beautiful Japanese style room, superb breakfast.

No biggy, but there was a slight odour in our room on the 3rd floor. Not sure where it came from but we got used to it pretty quickly when staying in
