We stayed 3 nights in the Annex Jack Roof, which is a cute bungalow accessible by the garden. The hotel decoration was beautiful. Large and comfortable room and common areas, lovely gardens. Loved the desk. Spacious bathroom. Smelled vintage, like at my grandma's. Nice staff. Cute cats. Quiet small library. Great location, walking distance to most downtown interesting spots, a lot of restaurant and convenient stores nearby. Beautiful neighborhood.

No wifi inside the room. Mosquitoes in the bedroom, despite using the provided anti-mosquito device (these never work). Disappointing cheap breakfast, would benefit from better quality ingredients (for example, granola instead of that dry raw oatmeal that no one eats anyway; yogurt, or an other milk option for the lactose intolerant; or good bread, there are a bunch of good bakeries nearby). Noisy street behind the room, esp early morning (noisy people and kids hanging out before school - which is just opposite the hotel, high water pressure cleaning, cars and motorbikes).

a bit noisy at times from local bars & motorcycles - but this is unavoidable in that part of town and ear plugs were provided by staff

We loved staying in this charming guesthouse with it's interesting antiques and artwork. The breakfast was quite good, as was afternoon tea with snacks. The bed was very comfortable and filtered water was available free of charge. Sitting in one of the courtyards with a good book was a wonderful way of taking a break from the bustle of George Town. The location is ideal for the historical city center, yet quieter than you'd expect. We wish we'd have stayed longer than just 3 nights!

Always wanted to stay at 23 love lane and it finally happened. The small hotel is an oasis in the mids of George Town. The style of the hotel is taking you back in time, super relaxing and beautiful. The staff is beyond helpful, talkative, and nice. 23 Love Lane is very well located, within walking distance of food and sights.

Quirky, interesting and a bit lace that isn’t bland or soulless. Friendly and helpful staff. Location in the old part of Georgetown, easy to get to the everything. plenty of different places to eat close by.

The side streets that the hotel is on are noisy at night (scooters, rubbish trucks). But that’s Georgetown.

Ventilation in the bathroom. It gets stuffy especially after someone finish using it. The bed and pillow is on the softer side. But this is just our family personal preference who prefers slightly firmer bed and pillow You may get some passing traffic noise from time to time later in the night but it’s a small trade off for being near enough to the action

A very friendly and most helpful staff greeted me on the day of my arrival and made my stay unforgettable! The room was furnished in the typical colonial style - with some original old antiques; The infrastructure (bath, shower, AC, van, WLAN, lights, mosquito repellent) were all perfectly clean and/or worked seamlessly The garden and "lobby" area is inviting you to have 5 o'clock tea or have an afternoon nap in one of the hold chairs. The attached steak-house provides the best filet in town -> including great fries and a fantastic sauce. If you are looking for the typical British colonial experience THIS is the place to be. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

This is always my go to hotel whenever I'm back on penang. Location is great, the ambiance is fantastic and one night when I got back fr a day trip, I found the housekeeping had lighted a candle n turned the lights low w the air-conditioning on for me.. what a delight to come back to a sweet scented room.

They had a new desk/reception person and when I stepped through the threshold, he looked at me and said.. this is a hotel! Hmm.. do I looked like someone who can't be staying there? Anyway, apart fr that and a bit of other tiff.. I will still come back cos I love this place and also the security uncle who always made my stay very welcome.
