Need to cut back the trees around the pool so that you can actually sunbathe/ get some sun around the pool Whole building inside and out needs a paint refresh and then this place would be perfect!

We spent hours there unwinding. And the complimentary all-day lounge? What a fantastic idea! Whether you need a quick snack, a cold drink, or just a quiet corner to relax, it’s always available and beautifully stocked. But what truly elevates The Edison to a class of its own is the exceptional staff. They are the very soul of this hotel – warm, professional, and endlessly helpful. From the front desk to the housekeeping team, every single person we encountered went out of their way to make us feel welcome and cared for. Their restaurant recommendations were outstanding, and they gave us wonderful tips for excursions that made our stay unforgettable. The Edison isn’t just a hotel – it’s an experience. It combines heritage, comfort, and a level of hospitality that is rare to find. We travel often, but few places have left such a lasting impression. If you’re visiting Penang, don’t even think twice. Stay at The Edison. It’s hands down the best hotel in the city, and we can’t wait to come back!

Really beautiful old building in a very good central location. Staff were beyond helpful and helped us to plan our itenary for our stay, they also sent a list of places to eat and drink before we arrived which can in really handy. Theres a communal lounge area with free snacks/drinks which was a great addition. The pool and outdoor seating space is really nicely done, and very peaceful considering the central location.

Noise from the hawker centre opposite was quite loud in our room, but seemed to stop at a reasonable time. Bathroom has a curtain rather than a door which I don’t think helps with the noise either. Our double room was quite small for our stay, so would probably choose to upgrade next time.

Staff were SO helpful, service fantastic. We forgot to change room to ‘please service my room’ after asking for privacy but they came even at the end of the day. Room - great size but as it’s an old building only window was in bathroom and misted. Building is old and full of character though and we love smaller hotels (35 rooms) so a very quiet hotel). Location - quiet location except for food centre across the road which has live music in the evenings but stops at 1130pm so was fine. I’m a light sleeper 😉. Would stay again!!

Malaysian hotels all have firm beds - sorry hard!

This is a truly unique hotel in a great location. The exterior and interior of the hotel is beautiful and really well maintained. The staff are super friendly and helpful (they provided some excellent recommendations for us in terms of local vegan restaurants and places to visit). The rooms are a good size and the beds are large and comfortable. We didn't use the pool area, but it looked like a really nice place to relax.

Can't really think of anything to put here to be honest. If you're staying in Penang, this place is where you should be staying.

We received a warm welcome on our arrival . Albert gave us wonderful recommendations for restaurants and sight seeing . The room was comfortable and stylish. Breakfast was lovely . Snacks and drinks were provided day and night. Happy hour with a free wine and nibbles was a lovely touch . The staff were outstanding with lovely senses of humour. I loved the pool . Nothing was ever too much for Albert . He spent ages sorting out flights for us and was always Hayton give advice

Beautiful building with spacious rooms, a lovely lounge/breakfast area and a shaded pool. Perfect for exploring GeorgeTown. The staff were great and very helpful offer plenty of recommendations. We had breakfast included, snacks and cold drinks whenever you like in the lounge area and umbrellas to protect you from the sun (use them!!). Would highly recommend.

A small thing but a door rather than a curtain on the bathroom would be nice to offer a bit more privacy.

The location is fantastic, right where you want to be to explore George Town. And the hotel itself is great - quirky, with some lovely heritage features. But the best thing about The Edison is the staff - they were attentive but not overbearing. They listened to our requests prior to check in, and did their best to deliver a top experience. Albert, the manager, can provide tons of recommendations for meals out, places to visit, things not to miss.

For us the hospitality was great and want to give a shout out to Albert and his team. Although it was a short stay it has been one of the best stays so far in Penang and we have stayed in many places. location was great there was parking complimentary light refreshments pool

due to the preservation of the beautiful architecture just be very careful of the steep stairs. Its not neccesary a negative thing but with age catching up just need to be extra caution.
