Location and peacefulness.

I was a long staying guest and i requested a deluxe king room, no effort was made to accommodate my request, i had to stay in a double single room for 9 nights. At least the property could have contacted me but ZERO contact was made. Please explain……..

Really good location and super affordable price for large rooms. The gym is ok. The swimming pool is too small. The Rotating restaurant on the top floor shows its aged legendary past. Service is also good. I took a room from the corner facing Eastern and Oriental Hotel which was quiet and nice. The oldest thing I’ve ever seen was the iron which is such an old model and doesn’t take water in. ;) But overall I really like its aging identity which is quite cool.

Customer service is really good; they gave me an early check in 12 noon,(as the room is available) even though the check in was at 3pm. Later on when I had some trouble with noise (from some other guests), they switched out my room with not further questions asked. Toiletries are always sufficient, and even a little extra sometimes. It’s been really comfortable and am thankful for the extra touches of service which made it more memorable and restful. Thank you!

Property facilities are a little old and worn out; sound proofing is not that good but can make do.

The views from a high floor, sea view were great as we could watch the coming & going of ships & cruise vessel's. In addition many small, local fishing boats (binoculars help) can be seen as they go from Penang kampung harbours to the fishing sites. The swimming facilities were good, non-slip surface around the 2 pools. 1 shallow pool for children & 1 large pool for adults, a rope of floats across the pool indicated the area for non & poor swimmers as beyond it the depth dropped away steeply. There is no lifeguard present. Towels, sun-beds & shower / toilet facilities are available but no food or drink option. The view from the rooftop bar is good however you will pay more for cocktails & other drinks than you would in most local bars & restaurants. Our stay did not include the buffet breakfast & we did not eat in the hotel in the evenings, so cannot comment. We did have lunch from the "snack menu" & the food was excellent. The residents lounge was a nice area to chill out & plenty of sockets taking UK three pin plugs were available to recharge phones etc. Wifi signal was good, on an unsecured network. We had purchased a 60 day 50gb sim card that we put into an older phone, it was handy for ordering GRAB taxis, (download app on App Store). The foyer, staircase & reception area was impressive. Lifts are available & had a quick response time during our stay.

The shower was not "separate" it was over the bathtub which did have chipped enamel. The bathroom door appeared at some point been used to retain a large cat (?a Tiger or Panther) as the bottom of the door was deeply scratched & delaminating. There was debris behind the bedside cabinets that appeared to have been an oversight during hoovering. Penang island has a lot of high rise building projects ongoing outside of the World Heritage Site old town. A rail link from airport to Georgetown is due to be completed by 2030.

The front desk staff are excellent - from check-in to check-out procedures, advice on sightseeing and shopping - they were so helpful and efficient. The view from the rooms is excellent! You can see the bay. The rooms are clean and extremely spacious. The bathrooms are clean and well-equipped. Housekeeping does a great job as well. The buffet breakfast is also excellent.

Unfortunately, the rooms can feel a little dated. The artwork makes the room look very boring - it needs a touch of Georgetown/ Malaysia. A tiny complementary snack or biscuits would make the experience even better.

Gym very small, apart from 15% total state taxes they charge extra 20-25 ringgit per day for room service which is ridiculous. Should be included in booking price. For 8 night stay we paid extra 180 on top of 15% taxes. Very bad surprise.

I really love coffee house staff.. Congratulations to Ms Hasniza, Bella , Ravi n Wanda for good hospitality.. They are friendly, kind and always smile. Concierge staff also good.. Mr Michael n Mr zaini.. You're doing great..!! Keep up a good work..

I was there for 3 days and 2 nights, for 2 nights I could not sleep peacefully because of the sound of children playing and babies crying. When outside the corridor, quiet. Very strange. Room number 1025,On the first day, the room was very dusty. The towel is old and has black spots, I had to go out to the store to buy fabreez and dettol spray.The door of the room (latch part) is broken, I have told the reception and they have sent maintenance staff, they have fixed it but it is still the same because the condition of the door is old and rotten.

Position of the hôtel..near everything..can walk to town.. Quiet room..

Room not to clean.. Carpet not hygienic, dirty, got rubbish under the sofa. Toilet..water leaking..

On arrival we had had a delayed flight and a big hassle at immigration as we had no idea about the permit. I dropped our bags and needed to park the car. It was dark and the directions felt complicated. One of the doormen - he was Nepalese and from 2 hours from Pokhara but I’m not sure of his name- offered to come with me. It was so wonderful to have this help. I’m sure I would have missed the entrance to the car park and the advice to park on 5 th floor. It was lovely to be welcomed back to the hotel by him after being out on an exploration of Georgetown
