Room: Extremely spacious. The air conditioning is powerful and does not blow directly onto the bed. The room is constantly cool. Toilet and Shower: Clean. The shower and toilet are in separate cubicles and the toilet sink is in the open between the two cubicles. Water pressure and temperature control are great. Bed: Old and a little hard but comfortable enough. It has mosquito nets draped around it. Staff: 10/10. There is always someone on duty and ready to be of service - Even when we arrived at 12am! Location: Great. It's a short (and reasonably priced) taxi ride to the local haunts in Georgetown. It's located right off the main road after a short but wide alley and is quiet at night.

Windows: People can easily see through the windows into the room from the ground floor. You will have to open the glass window to reach the wooden blinds and shut them for some privacy. Access: There are no lifts. The staircase to get to the second floor is slightly steep and narrow. There is barely enough room to fit someone carrying a large luggage. Be prepared! Location: Because it is relatively hidden, your taxi driver might get the location wrong (like ours did when we arrived) because the short road leading to the hotel is not named. A good landmark to use is the shop PENYET STATE OF NINE which is opposite the road leading to the hotel!

Joyce and the staff here were very friendly and helpful. Great value and location in Georgetown. Easy to walk everywhere. Facilities are nice and you are definitely get the luxe island vibes staying here.

Had wifi issues during my stay, couldn't connect in my room so I had to go to the common areas or work in the lobby when needing to hop on. Not issues for me, but maybe for others traveling: If you're a light sleeper there is a club across the street that plays live music every night usually until 2:30AM and you'll definitely hear it through the windows. And if you want a super soft bed maybe stay elsewhere, the mattresses are very firm.

The hotel is in the heart of george town i.e a UNESCO heritage area and vibrant night life location. We also loved the decorations and the lovely staff (special thanks to Joyce)!

Too bad there is no breakfast service, but there are a lot of cafés around in walking distance

The staff were delightful! Could not have been more helpful. Location is perfect, just around the corner from the Red Garden food court and many other streets that offer hawker stalls to restaurants. Walking mostly. We will stay again. Good value for money. Thank you.

there was a bar a street away that was very noisy untill 2am, bad singing. Luckily we were on the top floor, with windows shut it wasn't too bad but we did hear other guests complaining about the noise. Not the hotels fault but apparently all they can do is get the guest to put in a police complaint.

We loved our ground floor Deluxe King room with its high ceiling, clever layout, attractive furnishings and ample space overall. The tucked away location avoided street noise and we weren't troubled by surrounding night-life noise despite being typically sensitive to it. At times our upstairs neighbours' footsteps seemed busy but mostly the whole ambience was very peaceful. The small lap pool and free ice-cream were a bonus on the hottest day.

The Hotel is perfect little boutique place , I always try to stay here as its such a gem, with location unparalleled, the nicest most helpful staff who go above and beyond to help with anything and everything, the place is gorgeous too - another fine stay at my fav. Hotel in Georgetowns' Old Town Quarter !

sadly a new music venue has opened up very near, and they were making a racket untill 1 am one night (wknd!) and 12/ 11:30/ 11:00 pm the nights I was staying, i noted the noise to the Hotel staff, they have already complained to this venue, and will be taking it further - bearing in mind this is a city centre establishmnet besides many later-nightime venues for sure, so some audio is expected, but this was Karoke style catawallin' bad rock songs, (was it a band, or the public, I dont know, but it was bad!) - not bad enough to spoli the stay but just enough to warrant commenting on - its in hand, dont let it put you off - its only a glitch upon perfecetion ! and it was WKND so I wasnt flipping over it!

The architecture, design and amenities are just stunning. Feels very Penang. Truly incredible value for money and unsurpassed location just off Chulia Street. Staff are so pleasant and helpful too.

Unfortunately the new bar (not associated with the property but very nearby) made sleep really difficult. We arrived on a Thursday and while the staff did everything they could to ensure we rested well, the karaoke (?) noise was too much. As it was likely to get worse over the weekend, the staff very kindly arranged for us to move to another of their properties, Jawi Peranakan Mansion, which was also beautiful. I would happily return to Muntri Grove if the bar closes, otherwise I’d stay again at Jawi or one of their other properties. Amazing place but the noise is hard to deal with.

Great rooms, with a very roomy layout, comfortable beds, and excellent staff. Joyce was so friendly and helped with any request I had. Very close to the heart of Georgetown, so 10 minutes walk to all the good restaurants and street food.

The locks on the doors, while secure, were a bit tricky to figure out. Not that it matters, it's a super safe area, but it was a bit of a hassle. Also, there's a nightclub on the street over that has open-air music, but it's not overly loud from the hotel's location and it's done by midnight, 1am at the latest.

Room is gorgeous, spacious, comfortable and very fully, thoughtfully equipped with many little practicalities that make a difference for frequent travellers.  Fantastic location on Muntri Street to easily walk and explore the numerous restaurants, cafes, attractions and street art murals around. The daily complimentary afternoon tea offered at the poolside from 3.30pm - 5pm is another lovely touch and a good chance for foreign visitors to sample tasty local nyonya kuihs in the comfort of the hotel. Some reviews have mentioned the noise at night from a nearby bar but I honestly didn't think this was an issue. There was some noise but it was relatively muted - I always travel with earplugs so just popped them on and could hardly hear anything. Slept well through the night on the comfortable bed. I visit Penang regularly and have always tried different hotels, but I think I have finally found my "forever hotel" here!  

Wifi was stable and good enough for leisure use, but maybe the hotel can consider upgrading the speed to make it even more reliable for those who might need to get some work done remotely while on the go :) Thanks!!

Great location in the heritage area of Georgetown. Muntri Grove itself is a beautiful building complete with plantation shutters and with a welcome pool to retreat to after sightseeing. Lovely cafes and restaurants are within 200m of the hotel. Very friendly staff. So lovely too to have had a ‘visit’ from the monkeys one afternoon as they passed by the hotel pool.

Some noise/loud music later in the eve but this was not the fault of the hotel and it was ok overall.
