Good room and location

Pillows rather old! Nee,d re,placing.

the location is good near to supermarkets and restaurant also. the staffs are always helpful during our stay in penang we only book in merchant hotel. we love the place

my son enjoyed the room.he feels like in a space.even me also enjoyed.

upon check in all was fine. the issue only started the next day when my check out and during breakfast. 1.No receptionist during my check out and there was few other guest waiting as me.all waited almost like 20 to 30 minutes.this was realy frustating. 2.while room was delayed for check out,so me and my wife decided to have breakfast 1st.when to the counter,the staff(bangladeshi)told us that we cant dine due to our room number was not in the list.that made us MAD more.we had to argue and he accepted at the end. 3.hot water was not hot enough. 4.room pillow need to be changed. 5.please do look over the 4 points above please for a better future.

One of the standout aspects was the friendly and helpful staff. The location is another huge perk of this hotel. It’s centrally located, making it easy to walk to many of Penang’s famous attractions, local eateries, and historical sites. If you’re here to explore, the hotel’s location couldn’t be better—everything is right at your doorstep, so you save time and transportation costs plus it also have free on site parking (limited)

The WiFi was a bit frustrating as it was slow and sometimes barely worked at all. Additionally, the water pressure in the showers could have been stronger, and the water temperature only reached a lukewarm level, which wasn’t ideal. Other issues such as noises from nearby karaoke and street might also be taken into consideration (esp for light sleepers).

Counter Mr Hafiz and the two trainers was helpful and very friendly.The kitchen Breakfast staffs,Chef Ms Agnes Yeo prepared Good breakfast foods,Sophie and the Indian gentleman who served,was very courtesy...Good job,well done !!!. Hotel rooms,although it is an old hotel,the house keeping staffs done a good job too.Hope to see a Smart TV on my next trip.Wifi was good. The ground floor gent's toilet has ceiling leaks,already Informed Mr Hafiz. Hotel areas surrounding facilities is acceptable.Walking distance to Chowrasta night street foods. Taxi stand/services just a 5 minutes walking distance. Taxi driver uncles are very friendly...very good. That's all I can think of. Overall is GOOD..8.5 Rating

Nothing bad to comment. Importantly are the staffs services and attitudes who makes our stay comfortable. Your hotel has a group of good staffs. Thumb up !

it has a tub! older hotels tend to have bath tubs compared to newer hotels. even if they do, its at a higher price. and location wise, just walking distance to a 7e and nasi kandar line clear. comfy beds. the parking is sufficient but since its deep in penang, can get cramped so trucks/mpvs might have a problem, the guard/staff were helpful and the breakfast and lunch service was good (custom cooked) as long as you dont expect full on buffet

can get a bit noisy at times because there's a club / karaoke nearby. water heating takes abit of time to warm up but works well. also the staff should be abit more responsive to questions here. because we wanted to confirm about the lunch and breakfast arrangement but did not get a response in time.

I went here with 2 of my friends and we stayed in the Deluxe King Room (if I’m not mistaken). It was only RM200 (with taxes) for 3d2n. We were so surprised to find a bathtub and a balcony with seaview on our room (No. 604). I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels, luxury, 5 stars, 4 stars whatever, but I really love this hotel. When we arrived, we were in awe, and when we left, we were so happy we chose this hotel. To mention, my friends and I dont have driving license so we walked everywhere we want to go, and let me tell you, this hotel is placed in a very strategic location in walking distance (the furthest we walked was 1km away, about 25mins). Once you step out of the hotel, you gotta choose if you want to go left, right or turn back. If you go left, you’ll arrive at the famous Nasi Kandar Line Clear, Chowrasta Road, Chowrasta Market, KOMTAR and such. If you go right, you can arrive at Padang Kota Lama. If you turn back, you’ll arrive at Cheong Fatt Tze, Little India, the jetty (forgot the name) and many more. We truly enjoyed our stay here. The bed was comfortable. I fell asleep very easily. The staffs were so friendly and sweet. We even got to leave our bags after checking out (Check out at 12pm, but our flight at 8pm, and we planned to walk around a bit more before leaving for the airport), and also when we arrived but we can’t check in yet because the rooms were not ready (Checked in at 2pm, arrived at 11am). It was a pleasant stay. The huge windows gives a beautiful natural lighting and many different big mirrors really helped us three women having smooth application of makeup and in fact it turned out so well haha!! Thank you Merchant Hotel for being one of the excellent parts in creating bits of memories of us three in our memorable vacation!!! :D

The door for the balcony doesnt shut closed well. At night, it keeps on banging slowly everytime the wind hits it. It kept me awake for a few times because I thought it was a ghost and so I got scared hahaha! But after the first night, I learnt it was NOT a ghost, so it didn’t matter to me anymore.

Spacious room for two comfortable good lighting of the bathroom comfortable bed great location car park area provided staff are helpful - they sent me a hairdryer when the one in the room was not working

there was some odd smell at the entrance of the room but it was subtle, so it's fine furniture is slightly old but working well hotel towels are not the newest / whitest but they looked like they were washed properly no gym, not as advertised

Good Location. Friendly staff. Good rooms. Clean and comfortable especially the higher floors which more quiet than others. Air con very effective. Good size toilets. Working lifts.

Toilets not well maintained. Blankets too thin. Hair dryer not functional..
