Everything was perfect except for one thing which I’ll put below but it was one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at. We stayed in one of the mezzanine rooms with a balcony. It was great that there was a toilet on both levels.

When you closed sink in the downstairs bathroom to wash your face or have a shave, the press down plug wouldn’t open again so then the sink wouldn’t drain. Three mornings we mentioned it and three afternoons, when we came back to the room, the plug was up and sink drained but when you pushed it down again, the same thing happened. It was clear that the maintenance people hadn’t fixed it, just lifted the plug up. This was a very small (albeit inconvenient) complaint but wouldn’t stop us from staying there again.

The location, and rooms.

1. Noise level next door. We could literally hear conversations, as well as persons taking showers next door, so close-sounding as to be almost in the same room. 2. Over-air conditioned lobby. Almost cold! 3. Clueless, poorly-trained staff. A trainee working at Reception was alone, and didn’t know the meaning of “concierge” when I inquired about one. She apologized, and said there wasn’t one, which is nonsense in a supposed 5-star hotel. Also, not enough staff to greet guests checking in. 4. Poor and small selection buffet breakfast. Not up to standard to similar rated hotels. 5. Loud bar across road, blasting music into the early hour. Do NOT get a room facing the main road. 6. Pool overly-chlorinated.

We had a wonderful stay at The George—easily one of the best hotels we’ve experienced, thanks in large part to its incredible staff. The service was truly top-notch, with the team consistently going above and beyond to accommodate our needs. I was especially impressed by the way they delivered their service with such care and attention, making sure my family and I felt completely taken care of throughout our stay. I’ve stayed at some of the more high-end hotels in Georgetown, but none of them matched the warmth and professionalism of the staff at The George. The hotel itself is also ideally located—many of Georgetown’s key attractions are within walking distance, and for everything else, a Grab is just minutes away. And the room? It was everything you could want for the price—comfortable, thoughtfully designed, and equipped with smart, intuitive amenities that made our stay even more enjoyable. We absolutely loved our time at The George, and it certainly won’t be our last visit.

The parking wasn't the best as the space was too tight. But it's Penang and space is a luxury. Totally understandable.

The room itself is comfortable, I needed a quiet room in town and this hotel met my needs well. It has a good location, situated opposite Nasi Kandar Line Clear and just a 5-minute walk to Kimberly Street to find things to eat. The room includes two toilets, and the shower room is clean. Hot water and strong shower flow. Staffs are freindly but seems they always busy. The breakfast is average, but they offer fresh fruit juice, which is a nice touch.

Our room has two levels: the bedroom and shower room are upstairs. However, it may not be convenient for everyone, as you have to carry your luggage upstairs, and the space upstairs is quite tight despite being wide. the lighting feels dim at night, especially when using the staircase to go upstairs. On day 3, we noticed the air conditioning was leaking, but the technical team came and fixed it immediately. Hotel Lacks Google TV so no netflix

Great looking hotel. Loved the informative yet artistic display of the location’s history throughout the hotel building. Lovely staff. Clean room. Loved the complimentary drinks and snacks when we arrived in our room. The location is in walking distance to a lot of great places to eat. There’s a lot of negative reviews on here regarding the pool because of its size. We didn’t have an issue with this or where it’s located within the hotel. Overall enjoyed our time here and would book again!

Not a big deal, but not great for the environment. There wasn’t anywhere to indicate we didn’t want a turn down service. We stayed for two nights we did not require our towels to be changed over the 2nd day. There was nowhere to opt out of this service. Like you get in some hotels of a similar calibre.

First class hotel. Lots of variety for breakfast. The manager is such a wonderful person. She made it a special stay for us and helped me in taking care of my wife who was a little sick during our stay. (Her illness had nothing to do with the hotel)

I found the concierge to be very arrogant and condescending. He was quite full of himself. I didn't enjoy dealing with him at all and actually avoided him when I could. Such a shame as the rest of the staff was first class.

Location is always most important to this traveller and The George is the very heart of old George Town. I loved this location. It is a completely new build from the ground up in the old style of architecture unique to George Town. Spacious suites, charming and attentive staff and within a ten minute (or less) walk to the main attractions of the old town.

We stayed for five nights. Unfortunately, the area around the table and rubbish bin in our suite was never swept and was sticky. We have stayed at many hotels in Malaysia and one thing Westerners can count on is disappointment with the buffet breakfast. However, Asian clientele might well have enjoyed it.

The location was excellent, nearby to fantastic eateries and cafes. The hotel exterior and interiors were a nice colonial style but clean and spacious. Staff were friendly

The housekeeping is poor. Bathtub and basin are not cleaned properly. There were dirt! There are many small flies in the bathroom which is a sheer deterrent! Bath towel had some stains and bedsheets weren’t very clean. There are dust on bedside lamps and on the bed racks and headboard.

There is an indoor pool - with large open area giving the feeling of outdoors, fitness room, and steam room. All very well appointed and maintained. The hotel is within easy walking distance of most tourist attractions in the old town. But it is very hot so other modes of transport are advisable. The room was great, very spacious with good fittings, comfortable bed, storage spaces, well appointed bathroom.

We did not prepay for breakfast but had it on Day 1, being tempted by the extensive buffet, offering many different options. We were disappointed at the quality on offer, the juices were not fresh, the breads and pastries were not fresh, the coffee from the machine in the restaurant was not great. We did not have breakfast here again but went up the road. We did not see any guests in the restaurant at either breakfast or lunch again. Maybe the hotel could upgrade their offering?
