The noise. Was blasting loud music till midnight which was quite disturbing.

Very stylish and considered modern design. The room is spacious and very user friendly. The hooks along the wall were surprisingly useful. I found the bed very comfortable and slept well (it is on the firm side). The shower was also great. Location is very central and walkable. There is no fridge in the room, but each room has an individual box in the communal fridge facing the lift.

Considering how well the rooms are designed, it is surprising that the design for the entrance is not fit for purpose. The approach to the front desk and to the lift is paved with rough gravel, so it is not possible to bring your suitcase in on wheels – you have to lift and carry it. This is just stupid. The entrance design is “ inspired by a construction site” – okay, but first it needs to be functional.

The furry staffs aka the cats! Although one of the furry staff just sleeping on my last day at the hotel. The interior of the hotel was unique. The front desk is located on the right side of the hotel. I like that there's umbrella for the guest to borrow from the front desk. The check in staff were kind. When I check out on the next day, it's another staff and that staff is strong for carrying my luggage like it's nothing 😍. The room was comfortable. The snug heavy bedding was great, I love it. There's small long window in the room and I like that window as I can see some of the Penang city view. The toiletries was nicely arranged on the wooden tray. There's also QR code to WhatsApp chat with the hotel staff if there's any problems. I'm dumbfounded by the fact that the huge mirror on the wall is the toilet door 🤯. There's blind curtain outside the toilet and it's remote controlled 🙈. There's Coway water filter and shared fridge right in front of the lift on my room level. I checked out at 12pm and I stored my luggage till 6pm. That evening I was stuck at the hotel lobby during a sudden heavy downpour so I just sit on the lobby waiting for the rain to subsided. Thank you so much Mokozoyo Hotel and the staffs for everything. Hopefully I can come back to Penang and stay at here again.

I wish that there's some notes about the air-conditioning panel that was right beside the toilet door (yes I went and ask the staff about it). I was sweating right after check in and feeling embarrassed for not knowing where's the air-conditioning remote 🥲. I can hear some sound from outside the room.

The design of the hotel was beautiful, very Japanese zen like. I loved the industrial minimalist look of the room. The hotel provided all the necessary toiletries and they even had free snacks and a water machine on each floor. The food at the restaurant (can't remember the name) was a little pricey but DELICIOUS. I also liked the sandwich cafe on the first floor. The hotel is pretty centrally located and it was easy to reach some popular tourist spots that were within walking distance.

I wish the sandwich cafe would've stayed open until 5 or 6.

Excellent location, walkable distance to attractions. Modern, simple design and aesthetically pleasing.

Some areas are not maintained well. Shower area is extremely mouldy🤢. Pantry not stocked up as advertised.

The hotel is gorgeous. Service is excellent. They are very responsive to my queries. This is the only hotel that I stay at that uses Whatsapp as communication. The location is central and safe. Staff is nice and cool 😎 love the Tongue in Cheek toiletries. The room is clean and cosy . Forgot to mention their super chill Hotel cat 🐈 I will be back 😁

There's a bar on 2nd floor that operates till midnight. The hotel is not soundproof so can feel the hotel shaking. But they end at 12 pm so not an issue for me.

I love the overall deco of the hotel's interior and room, the cool & quirky captions on the toiletries, the sandwich bar (cafe) and the listening bar/dining restaurant within the hotel premise. I just wish that I could have stayed more nights here.

Just a little note that I didn't know there was no water boiler/electric kettle inside the room. I thought the thermal flask was an electric kettle until I read the instructions in "The Unusual Guide to Hotel Mokozoyo". Hahahahaa, not sure if it will be a good idea to have it explicitly stated in a note or something at the flask and cups corner.

Hip hotel in a hip area of Penang. We really liked the complementary snacks and the cocktails at the listening bar. The hotel is walking distance to the old town and there are many restaurants and cafe just outside the hotel (other than the in-house cafe, restaurant, and bar).

We would have liked the option to have breakfast on site, but when we stayed the cafe opened a bit late, at 9:30am. It'd be perfect if the hotel adds a pool.

Great location, comfortable room size, clean with basic amenities available. Mini fridge, hair dryer is in the room but there isn’t ironing board available. Refillable water machine- hot/cold is fantastic with small snacks available. There’s also hotel bicycle renting service and umbrella available. Lift is available if there are baggages. There are some parking slots in front of the hotel available too.

It’ll be even better if the check in time can be earlier. It’ll be great if check in is available 12pm rather than 3pm.

The hotel is one of the more aesthetic hotels in Penang. It has a hipster vibe and has many insta worthy photo spots. The location is great and near several food places. It is also a 3 min walk to a nightclub, Midnight Black, which may/may not be a good thing to travellers. It is easy accessible and convenient to get a Grab ride. The room is clean and pleasant to live in, with an industrial theme. The smart tv is really useful with Netflix and Youtube. It is value for money and great for budget travellers who do not wish to live in a hostel.

There are not many facilities as this is a boutique hotel. There is no pool or laundry services (there is a laundromat across the road) or a lobby. Would recommend to have more household products in the room - tissue paper (we were using toilet paper throughout), conditioner, hand soap (it was not working).
