I stay at The Guillieru Harbour Hotel because it is fairly quiet, has lovely views across St Paul’s Bay and is well placed for buses up to the best beaches at Mellieha and Armier Bay. The buses to Sliema and Valletta are very frequent also and there is a stop 50 yards from the hotel. It is an easy stroll along the promenade to very nice bars and restaurants. My room was comfortable, if a little dated, and I had everything I needed, including tea & coffee and toiletries. The English breakfast was good but I would have liked a variety of bread rolls. I didn’t like the machine coffee but I bought a really good coffee from the bar for €2.20. There were always staff available in the foyer if you needed anything

Considering the location, there was nowhere to sit out and enjoy the wonderful view apart from on your balcony. I went in mid September and the pool bar was closed, the pool wasn’t heated and I just think it could be so much better with a little imagination.

We enjoyed our stay with balconies and sea views, decent space and facilities and a comfortable bed. The foyer and public spaces are good and attractive, with a fine location on the sea front. The hotel certainly looks the business on arrival and feels more authentic than some others we walked past. There is a swimming pool for guests that is open for most of the day (not supervised) accessed from the second floor, on the roof of the restaurant. The restaurant is used for breakfast and later in the day as two eateries, one aiming at finer dining, the other for more regular fare The hotel staff were friendly professional and helpful as were those providing the breakfast service. The value for money was reasonable and the overall feeling was of a hotel that has more character than some of the modern 'glass box' offerings, although they would have a higher quality finish to individual rooms.

Our corner room on the second floor was a bit tired. Although some recent work with a paintbrush had apparently been done. But there are some deficiencies that would take a bit more fixing, such as no bathroom extract fan, air conditioning that sort of worked, and bathroom tiling etc that let the room down. The room didn't feel that it was in the same league as the public areas, which was a pity. These things would take a good deal of time and money to sort out. How important they are to a guest would depend on how fastidious you are, but they did cheapen the experience a bit. However most modern hotels would be rather better finished than this. Some waiting staff in the 'fine dining' restaurant were rather pretentious. However:

The room was spacious and comfortable with a nice balcony with a great view to the sea. The desk on the room is good enough to work from a computer for some days.

The shower requires maintenance, the water was either ice cold or boiling hot making it hard to take a shower. Even after a technician tried to fix it wasn’t solved completely.

Lovely hotel, clean and comfortable. Allowed us to use the facilities before check in time. The cocktails were phenomenal. Booked a street view room and was upgraded (kind of) to a slightly sea view room. Breakfast was tasty and all staff were friendly and helpful.

Felt like our room was one of the smaller rooms. Pool area is high up and exposed to winds, view obstructed by buildings. Lots of loud construction works during the day (assuming time of year). Were not informed of facilities, WiFi, breakfast on check in but was easy to get the information so not a massive gripe.

Location was excellent and staff were very helpful and accommodating. We were due to check out in the morning and had plans for the rest of the day until the flight home at 21.30. Unfortunately I was unwell so we had to cancel our plans. The staff were able to arrange for us to keep our room until later in the afternoon so that I could rest for as long as possible.

I found that the fitted sheets weren't quite deep enough for the mattress so get coming off so I would often wake up with my pillow on the mattress not the sheet.

Location is on the beachfront, very well connected with public transport, with a private pool, restaurant, wellness... Excellent view and hot-tub. Big and comfortable room. Friendly and helpful staff.

Towels were not exchanged during our 3 nights stay, even though the room was cleaned every day. Hot-tub is not very private, you are basically exposed to the entire beach but also to rooms above this one. Breakfast is very basic and nothing local in the breakfast buffet. I would not include that in my next arrangement. Public Lido in front of the hotel with loud and not very inconsiderate visitors (unfortunately from my own country) might be a bit off-putting to some of the guests who seek rest and quiet time.

I loved the view from the balcony, I liked that you couldnt hear traffic noise ... The staff were very pleasant ... The breakfast options (for me) were great ... The room and bed were comfortable and clean - I would definitely book here again.

You have a lovely baby grand piano in the lobby, however its clearly not played and its incredibly out of tune - could perhaps get it tuned, its not expensive to do - I would have enjoyed playing it. Also it would have been nice to have the option of buying some snacks (crisps / chocolate) from the little bar area next to reception. Im not criticising the hotel as I had a wonderful stay - these are purely suggestions.

The room i was assigned was great value for money spent. - very large room and bathroom - comfortable bed I haven't had breakfast at the location, but i did taste their kitchen's pizza and coffees / beer from the bar. I have only good words for them. The location is great for relaxing, close enough to the attractions by foot or bus (there is a bus station just outside of the hotel) but far enough from the city noise.

These are a list of thing that i thing could be improved: - Add items to the minibar to be sold. Right now is just an empty mini fridge - Provide slippers to the guests. The ceramic tiles on the floor are cold in the winter / spring. The slipper and a bathrobe can be used by guests going downstairs to the SPA - Doublecheck the cleanliness of items before a guest checks in. In my case, i did not use the water heater for coffee/tea, because it had stains inside.

Lovely staff. Very nice bedroom with huge windows and terrace, big king sized bed. Excellent standard of cleaning.

Breakfast was awful. We only had it for one day and then we went out to a little cafe for almost half the price. We met others from the hotel who thought the same. Nothing around the hotel in terms of shops or interest. A 15 to 20 min walk for anything; and further to a supermarket. Beach quite a way away. Website is misleading; there is only a quay nearby.

The secret behind the hotel's low price was the ongoing renovation, both outside and in some rooms, which does not significantly affect the quality of the stay. The rooms are very nice, clean, and comfortable. The balconies are beautiful and spacious, especially on the 5th floor facing the city. I particularly recommend this side in winter because it is warm and sunny. In summer, the sea-view side is a better choice as it is cooler. The location is peaceful, making it a great option for couples. The staff is very friendly. Highly recommended!
